In July 2017, I was forced to buy a 1 YEAR MEMBERSHIP TERM in order to use a Thousand Trails RV Park near Donner Summit, CA. We were having mechanical problems and had no options nearby to stay.
I discovered in October 2018 that Thousand Trails has been charging my credit card monthly dues since July 2018. I have had several very frustrating conversations with member services, and had been treated disrespectfully and aesthetically by their reps. I explained to them that we were displaced by the CARR Fire in Redding California and have no home base, since being evacuated. They refused to remove my unauthorized charges from my credit card account despite never using any Thousand Trails RV parks since July 2017. They claim that l inadvertently agreed to renewing my membership in 2018 when I joined in 2017. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I don't live near any of their Parks and just needed to use their facility once in 2017. I was charged about $300 just for that single stay, and they're still charging me. I submitted an email to stop charging and reverse all unauthorized charges against my credit card, but l am getting very sceptical feedback from the reps. That l wiil get My much needed money back. We need that money since being displaced by the wildfire in Redding.
File complaint with BBB
Just joined two months ago and tried to make a 2-3 night reservation two weeks in advance to two campgrounds listed on the region I am attached to. Both did Not have a site available!
The absolute worst customer service. You can't get a copy of your contract, nor do they provide an email address only email through their site, so they don't have a paper trail.
Reading the complaints, I want to cancel my membership, which I just started so it doesn't auto renew and can't get an address to send to cancel it. Very deceptive practices.
I am experiencing the same issue. I talked to them on the phone to cancel, and they said submit a letter. I submitted three letters. I am still getting billed. They will not do anything via email or letter. It is almost like it goes into a void. Out of frustration, I asked them to schedule a specific time to talk about this. I haven't received a response to my email yet...even though they responded to an email once before. I doubt they will respond or show up at the call. I have a tentative meeting with an attorney on Friday to discuss other matters, but I may have to add this to the list. Now that I have done some research on canceling Thousand Trails, I feel like I have fallen into a trap. Oh boy, as you can imagine, I am not happy about this. I have perfect credit, I just retired from a government contract position with the clearances that go with that, and I spent 7 years in law enforcement. I refuse to have my reputation taken down by this kind of behavior. I will fight this wrong to my last breath. Of course, I do hope for resolution...that somehow, they will come back and say "yes, we reviewed this, and you are right, we will stop billing you.". I doubt that will happen. If these complains are true, this may be a long and arduous process to force them to cancel.
