Townwood Homes The hallscroft model — leaking window

Home Possession was in February 2018, Into the 2nd Year February of 2020 our window showed signs of leaks. Townwood Homes Handyman came out in March 2020 resealed an out side window for water penetration and wiped the leaks on the ceiling it caused. On December 01st 2020 the ceiling leaks reoccurred. We then spoke to the Construction Manager who came out with in the same month and inspected the problem.
Was assured by the Construction Manager from Townwood Homes he will return in Spring 2021 to work on the issue and repair the ceiling but as of ending August 2021 no one from Townwood Homes has contacted us.

Desired outcome: repair

Townwood Homes build quality

I am renovating my home that was built by Townwood homes back in 1994. I understand that the house is nearly 30 years old, but what I found behind the drywall was all original. The framing is the worst I have ever seen and one of our floors even slopes up an entire inch near the back of the house because the framers put the sub floor on a lintel which is higher than the joists. There were hidden junction boxes behind cabinets with live wires. Even the 40 amp stove box was hidden and routed to another box. It would appear that the electricians and the cabinet guys had different plans. All in all, its a complete crap show - I have never seen a home built with so little care. I have no idea what Townwood Homes is like today, but back in 1994 they were putting up lemons.

There is absolutely no way this house would have passed structural or electrical inspection back in 1994 as the code violations are glaring and dangerous.

This was part of the Stonehaven development - expensive homes for the day and even now. Its a damn shame what was hidden behind the walls.

Townwood Homes worst customer service

We have got squirrels in new house because builder forgot to put shingles on all 4 corners of roof. Wood is exposed so squirrels chew the exposed wood and entered attic. I called the builder about that, first of all the person was very rude and he mentioned that its homeowners responsibility to deal with it. So I called Pest removal company to get the inspection done at my own expenses. They took pictures of exposed wood, and I sent that to builder. Its been more than month calling customer service to fix that but no luck. Its very frustrating experience. So I would suggest everyone to never buy a house from Townwood Homes.

I bought a detach house in Brampton. Moved last june and had this same bad experience from Townwood homes. The paint job was horrible. The staircase was not sender properly very poor finish and clear not applied. Paint spray all over the glass, tiles and the tub. Harwood chipped, scratched and hyper dirty. Mud and dirt in between the wood. Large amount of moisture and mold built up on the windows. Due to poor air circulation in the house The humidity level in my house is crazy high in winter it varies between 70% - 80 % the normal humidity level should be between 30%-40%. The houses are still airtight I don't understand why townwood homes unit does not come with an HRV unit. First the construction office supervisor inspected my house he suggested to turn my 4 washroom fan all the time, the fan from my furnace should be on 24/7 and I should buy couple of dehumidifiers get them running all the times, completely contraditory tobthe harwood company advise. After fighting back the Customer service manager Joe came over for an inspection he gave me a very poor lecture of the physics of humidity, he suggested I should buy couple of dehumidifier and place them in each rooms, turn off all the fans and keep cleaning the windows, remove the mold and water on the frame. He acknowledged there is a lack of air circulation and confident he will never get an HRV installed unless I pay for. Please inspect your windows for any mold and humidity build up. I purchase a home from Townwood in Feb of 2015 and my closing was March 2016. It's only been a month and a bit since I resided here but the amount of items that need to be fixed is INSANE! I have chipped hardwood and scratched all over the house prior to moving in which was brought up during my PDI. Also, the paint job is horrible- does not look professional at all! Simple things such as door knobs and missing light bulbs were not fixed which was bizarre. As a first time home buyer this was quite a horrible experience. I've called numerous times and emailed them but the steps they take in order to complete the unfinished tasks has been dragging. It is unfortunate that we us consumers have to pay upfront for everything but they don't have everything done 100%. The first 2 weeks the husband and I had to bathe from a bathtub since the guest washroom shower knob malfunctioned and the shower glass in our master had not been installed. This has been one horrific experience. Still waiting for painters and the hardwood guys to come in and fix the numerous items that need to be done. Oh and yesterday someone came to do some touch ups. Last night when I got home all I saw was paint dust everywhere and the worst part was when I looked into my master washroom. My towel and bathrobe that were hung up on the door were thrown into the sink and my liquid soap had been poured all over robe. Very unprofessional people that they have hired. All I can say is I regret buying this house, worst decision ever.

My wife and I have gone for our appointment and met with Leigh Ann. She is opinionated, but always let's you make the final decision . You can wither appreciate what she is suggesting or you can simple tell her that you are not interested. The upgrades are expensive so is buying a home. I was fully expecting for the prices to be high and at that point of our appointment my wife and I had to make decisions on what we really wanted them to do for us and what we could live with upgrading in the future. Once you simplyfy it the decisions become easier.

I agree too. Designer was rude and short. I arrived late for my appointment by 30 minutes because of a misunderstanding on my part. I apologized, but she proceeded to cancel my appointment and reschedule for another day even though there were still 3 hours remaining in the appointment slot. I had stated that I already know all my selections from the open showroom saturday which I had listed on paper in detail already. It was a matter of paperwork. My husband and I had taken a day off work (not an easy thing to do) and she cancelled it to punish us. Very rude throughout the entire process.

My family and I regret our purchases with Townwood Homes. They mislead you when booking the home and the shock comes at the Decor Centre, not only are they over priced
On their finishes but the prices change contract to contract ! The sales centre lady is a NIGHTMARE ! Be prepared to have the joy of home
Buying shattered as they do nothing to help !
