Sometime in 2012, we joined trade winds vacation. when we joined, i specifically asked the sales person if this was like a time share in which getting out of this was nearly impossible. she said that No it was not, in fact, when we no longer wanted the membership to just stop paying. We decided after seeing that we could get a vacation cheaper thru other means, that we no longer wanted this service...even though we paid a lot of money up front. In the last 5 years, we have been getting calls about our membership. When i told the person we no longer wanted to be a member, she said that we could not stop our membership as per the contract. i ask for a copy of the contract and never received one until the other day, 9/6/2022. Also, we have received several calls from tradewinds and each time we have expressed vehemently that we did not want this membership and was told we could not get out of this membership. Also, pretty much each time we ask for a copy of the contract. On 9/6/2022 we received some kinda contract, but It is not a full contract. there are no signatures or initials on one page. We were offered a mutual settlement and release agreement if we paid 710.00. We are retired individuals and cannot even think about affording 710.
Desired outcome: I would like for tradewinds vacations to stop contacting us and what ever membership they think we have, to cancel it immediately.
Do you know the law firm that is filing a class action suit against Tradewinds for fraudulent service? They called me and I was not able to write at the time so can't remember their name. Coincidentally, I got an invoice in the mail two days after the call for 3 years of annual dues. Hadn't heard from them in years. Paid $6000 to get in back in the mid-'20s. Use them once for a room in Galveston. Bugs and nasty condo. We had to get our own room elsewhere. Other times could never get a room where we wanted to go.
My personal experience has been one of harassment and threats from Coconut Club Vacations. What I find very interesting is we joined "Ultimate Excursions", NOT Coconut Club. We were told they changed their name but I found out through BBB complaints, at least 18 clubs share the same email address; "info@yourtravelservices.org.". This also includes " Tradewind Vacations, Birmingham, AL" (#12 on BBB 2016 complaint). My interaction with Coconut Club is very well documented with all emails.
I attached email showing Mr. Lee (manager) at Coconut Club's response when I demanded they leave me alone. The language in his answer is quite clear. Membership is
"membership is either active-dues paid or inactive-dues unpaid. Just understand if you ever wanted to reactivate you have to pay the dues up to current. No issue here!"
I am awaiting response to my BBB complaint as of 03/09/2023.
