No class, no refund
I scheduled the lesson with the first teacher and she canceled it. After that, Tutoroo matched me with a second teacher, let's call him Mr. A.
Mr. A agreed to have the lesson then canceled at the last minute. This was frustrating that the platform has no reliable teachers. I have been asking for a refund from Tutoroo for two weeks and all they say was "I will match you with another teacher."
I do not want to waste my time and have lessons with teachers that I do not choose. I insisted on getting refunds but they never budge.
I ended up calling the bank and file a chargeback to this transaction.

The company offered that I give free 4 lessons for a student's trial (he paid in full which was 36 x 4). In return, they promised that if the student does not continue I will get refunded 50% of the amount. I have been trying to get a refund since March. The company ignores my emails, messages, and calls. I have been contacting them every other week and still nothing.

I haven't heard back for the individual I wanted as a tutor, and there are no other available tutors who meet my needs or availability, and Tutorscam is not offering a refund! There is no obvious link to their refund policy, but it states that they will offer a refund if no tutor is available. Well guess what, THERE ARE NO AVAILABLE TUTORS AND I STILL Can't GET A REFUND! The person I was chatting with told me that I can't get a refund because there are tutors available, which is not true, and then told me to review the refund policy without even providing the link and then logged off. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Tutorscam is a predatory business! This is my first attempt at finding a tutor for french ever, and I will never trust a site like this ever again. I WANT A REFUND! I WILL SHOUT AND SCREAM ABOUT TUTORSCAM ALL OVER THE INTERNET UNTIL I GET A REFUND!

Unethical behavior
If you're a tutor or a student, don't use this platform. It has all of the hallmarks of a predatory scam. They are not upfront about the terms of the tutor's use of the platform, and actually deliberately hide them on the website, in order to misdirect both parties. The student pays an inflated fee for the tutor's services, but the tutor will not get paid for the first two weeks of lessons. Of course, there is no guarantee that the student will stay with you afterwards. They also refuse to give the student a refund as long as there is another teacher that they can introduce them to (i.e. as long as they say this is a possibility, they will hold on to your money). This is an arrangement that is not favorable to any party but Tutoroo. It's a disgusting and unethical way to run a business, and unfortunately they have probably extracted money from a lot of customers.
Desired outcome: Refund the students without imposing unfeasible conditions, or pay the teachers the full amount.

Tutoring services
I am baffled and disgusted by the way I am treated by this horrible company. They are holding onto my 25 euros since over a month now and there is no sign of a refund. I have been speaking to them on whatsapp and I get nothing but a generic reply saying that they will follow up on my refund. At first, they wanted to connect me to a different tutor and then they themselves told me that they will issue me a refund. Unfortunately there is no sign of a refund yet. I thank my stars for not paying this scam company more money otherwise I would've lost it as well.
The customer service says the same thing over and over again like robots and I am very scared that this company has my card details. If you're looking to find tutors, please do not use this company.

Consumer-hostile refund policy has me chasing a refund after weeks without a service provided
I signed up for Tutoroo to find an English tutor for my kids.
I found two suitable profiles, got a response from both, and signed up for two lessons immediately once we seemingly agreed on a time slot. For ten days, I had no further response, and then my selected tutor said she was unavailable and would be leaving the service.
Tutoroo reached out to additional tutors without consulting me as to my preferences or my criteria, and I'm counting five total tutors since my initial setup, some of which I had screened as unsatisfactory when seeking out tutors, and none of which have actually come through or proposed a service.
After nearly four weeks, I am chasing a refund and being told curtly it is against policy, so I have effectively been duped out of money, and left at the mercy of their customer service department, who takes far longer to respond to my inquiries than to prod tutors without my approval.
I would like to get a full refund so that I can make alternative arrangements for my children, as the service has simply not been provided within a reasonable time frame and to the level promised by their website.

Refunded, at last. Nearly four months, keep at it.
23rd of June, and two reminders later, still no sign of a refund from TUTOROO, just an email promising to chase it up and silence ever since. So 30 days is more like 40 and counting.
Also, since when does it take 30 days to refund anything using online platforms?
TUTOROO were incredibly efficient in taking my money, and pushing unwanted tutors once I'd signified I wanted out, but somehow, the refunding of my money is suddenly incredibly complicated and time-consuming.
Unprofessional and unethical.
Don't worry, we're already in touch. I've even gone back to the site and enquired about other tutors, but none of the ones that are of interest have even bothered to respond, and so far three you've put me in touch with have declined and mentioned they have left or intend to leave the site. Your Paris team is putting me in touch with people in the UK and South Africa, when I explicitly mentioned I wanted someone local to have in-person lessons.
I will also add that all the tutors have different rates, lower than the initial tutor I booked, but I guess I'm just expected to may the difference anyway. Yeah, no.
So far, you're holding on to my 96 euros, and have provided me with nothing but wasted time and a bunch of pointless emails about a borderline fraudulent refund policy.
How long are we going to do this dance? Please refund my money. You've wasted 3 months of my time, and unforgivably, my children's.
Two weeks have passed. I found another tutor on the site, to demonstrate good faith. No reply from said tutor. Two other tutors proposed, one on the other side of the world, defeating the purpose and not in my search criteria. The other one never replied.
This has gone on for nearly two months. Customer service sends me back screenshots of them denying my refund as proof that they are denying me a refund for providing no service. Meanwhile, they have my money.
Refund me Tutoroo, this is extortion.
No communication. Tutoroo are withholding my funds, having refused a refund, and providing no updates.
The tutors seem to be bailing on this platform, not surprising given their policies and complete lack of service.
Where's my money Tutoroo? I paid 96 euros for pushy emails and surly customer service? Process my refund and stop pretending you've offered me a service by trying to steer me towards tutors with inadequate résumés.

Update: After emailing my issue as outlined above, I had to chase the request on 22/04 following a lack of follow-up. The request was declined.
I received the response via Whatsapp to my phone on 23/04 reminding me of the free replacement policy and stipulating I would not receive a refund as long as there were replacements available in my area.
At this stage, I am becoming rather irate, and will be contacting Tutoroo on a very frequent basis until my refund is processed.
I have not been provided a service for the money spent, I will not be coerced into a service that is not worth the large amount at stake, and insist on a refund.

Refuses refund request when it does not have a suitable teacher
This company is a scam, and if you have any issues be prepared for non-existent and unprofessional customer service where they charge you before lessons are confirmed, and refuse to offer refund if your preferred tutors are unavailable. The website has a disconnected customer service number and they actively avoid providing information about their policy.
I paid Tutoroo for lessons on 22/03/2021, where I contacted two tutors for availability. Both tutors were unavailable for in person meeting. When I requested a refund, Jericha from support would respond and say they'd passed it on to the local team. No one followed up promptly or would address my refund questions until I escalated it several times. Sophia from the local team only sent auto generated spam messages to the tutors about setting up a date to meet, which I had already communicated and determined both were unavailable.
This was written in reply by support:
"Please feel free to contact your next preferred tutor, just skip the payment page.
According to our refund policy, we can not issue a refund unless there is no tutor available to cater you.
Thank you for your understanding."
DO NOT USE THIS UNETHICAL COMPANY. The payment page cannot be skipped when sending inquiries to tutors. So not only are they charging payment beforehand, but pushing additional contact with remaining instructors I've reviewed and found not to meet what I am looking for.
I will NEVER be using Tutoroo again and will be reporting it to the ombudsman for their dodgy communication and policies.

I reviewed all remaining tutors and they either do not meet my availability, provide in person lessons nearby or have the specific dialect I'm seeking. Given that I've been introduced to 3 replacement tutors without success, why is the refund not being issued? I've escalated this matter and requested information regarding a reference for the invoice charged and case number by Tutoroo Melbourne team. This still has not been provided but instead I've been given the runaround where I have gone through various customer service persons who continue to deflect and no resolve the issue of getting my money back.

Sophia connected me with a third tutor on 25/03/2021, which still does not suit my preferences and availability. I'm shocked by the complete disregard and refusal from Tutorio to refund my payment when the service I'm seeking cannot be provided. I also find it appalling that they're dragging this out and continuing to randomly messaging tutors, not taking into consideration what I've specified or and my dissatisfaction with their platform.

I have made multiple formal complaints now as well as emailing them over the past few months about this and still no refund as I was never connected with a tutor. I have tried calling the Australian phone numbers and they are disconnected. They put a tick for 'resolved' on my other complaints, but they have not been resolved. Absolutely disgusting.

Payment to the tutor
Tutoroo are not professional at all.
I had two students who paid for 4 lessons each but we did not continue the lessons after two weeks, and this was the choice of the students.
According to their policy "Should the student choose to terminate or discontinue lessons after two weeks, all our tutors are protected under Turoroo's guarantee that they will receove 50% of the total amount of fees generated from the two weeks of lesson"
I have been sending lots of messages, which they reply with "we will follow-up", "we shall continue the discussion on whatsapp" but they are messing with me for almost two months now. I did my part of the job and gave 8 lessons in total. Still waiting for the money to be sent.

Tutor charges not refunded
January 13, 2021 - Tutoroo took payment from my student for 4 x 1.5hr classes for first 2 weeks without confirming with me that I was available for 2 classes per week x 1.5hrs. I told them for January, I was only available for 1 x 1.5 hrs per week.
January 13, 2021 - I messaged the Support Team to let them know I was not available for 2 x 1.5 hrs per week at that time. I could only offer the student 1 x 1.5hrs per week. I told them they should check with the Tutor before booking classes and times. I asked them to refund the student half of what they charged him.
Jan 18, 2021 - No reply from Support Team so messaged again.
Jan 19, 2021 - Support Team replied and told me to discuss the lessons with the student later that day (1st class), and let them know what was decided so they could adjust the payment.
Jan 20, 2021 - Tutoroo confirmed with both me and my student in the group chat that we had only time to schedule 1.5hrs x 2 weeks. The dates and times for the lessons were confirmed with Tutoroo.
I thought they would take care of the refund, so I was embarrassed when my student brought it up again on Feb 16 that he had not had any news from Tutoroo at all.
Feb 16, 2021 - Messaged the Support Team again about the student's refund, and as of today, Feb 24, have had no reply.
Although I will also ask the student to lodge a complaint, I felt impelled to do so today on behalf of my student who trusted Tutoroo and because I advertise there and he got me as a tutor through them, I feel bad that the company has not taken care of him.

I sign up for my daughter who is in hughschool and needed assistance in english. The teacher I chose quit after 2 sessions. After a few months of arguing online and giving me a few teachers who have no experience I teaching english for high school. They did say they will talk to their payment team. After another month of wait, they now tell me I can get credit for 4 lessons. But service to what? One of the teacher they offered told me herself she has no confidence. Please assist. I need to get my money back. They are cheater. Where is the consumer right in this instance?

German lessons
Firstly, I was incorrectly charged €53 per German lesson for 2 lessons with Christiane in Berlin instead of Christiane's actual rate of €35. Christiane advised I had done this as it is advertised incorrectly in your invoicing section. I have contacted Tutoroo several times and received no replies.
Then my son's first lesson was supposed to be at 5pm UK time today and we were not contacted. You have NO information on your website about how these lessons are to take place. My inquiries on Cristiane's inquiry section have gone unanswered and we have NO idea how your programme works. We have been woefully let down by a very muddled and unhelpful website. I require a FULL refund as the lesson did not happen and I have received no communications for Tutoroo. This is a total of €106 for the 2 lessons and I expect t it to be repaid as promptly as you took the payment from me.

Took my money before connecting me with a tutor
Tutoroo quickly took $152 out of my account without warning before even finding me a tutor. It has been weeks and still nothing. I have asked for a refund and they are refusing. I already found another tutor through a different much better site and I have just lost my job and can't have this kind of money taken from me. in my case, . After 2 lessons, the teacher claimed she is not paid by tutoroo. she then decided not to continue. I asked for refund from tutoroo and they refused. I looked for a second teacher, whom I thought may fit my need, but there was no reply from the second teacher. So i requested a refund. tutoroo then offered me a teacher whom I believe do not fit my requirements.( yes. they chose the teacher for me. How do they know what I need?). I told them this teacher is not suitable. then they said I cant get the remainder of my money back as they hv other tutors for me. The point is almost all of their teachers are ESL teachers.I need mainstream English teacher for VCE. they DO NOT have any tutor for this purpose, and yet they refused to return my money. They took my right to choose my own teacher and offered me an ESL teacher.They are shameless too as these conversations took place in the chat platform where the first teacher can actually read the shuttling of messages. up to today, they still refuse to refund me, instead they said I can choose any tutor and can get tuition anytime in the future. The issue is, they DO NOT have a VCE English teacher.

I inquired to this site Tutoroo to get a tutor but before they had found anyone for me, I had already found a suitable tutor for myself on a different site and no longer need Tutoroo. Tutoroo has taken $152 out of my bank account without warning or before a tutor on this site had even accepted me, as the person they put me in touch with has too many students already. I have messaged them multiple times about the matter and they will not give me a refund or find me a suitable tutor since apparently they can't give me a refund, and now aren't responding at all.

My name is Oana Bogatan. I have paid 120 € for two private tutoring classes that they will not take place due to misinformation both on my side as well as on the Tutor‘s side. It seems the tutor is not getting the money I transferred prior to getting in contact with him. As a consequence he has cancelled his account. I am no longer interested in using these services and I request to be put in contact with the Payment Team/ Customer Service from Germany, Munich and to be refunded.

I haven't got my refund! "If the student does not choose to continue after the second week, we will pay you half the tuition fees." This is the policy of TUTOROO however they do not refund half of the fees. I sent several messages mostly no reply if so "Hi Anna, we apologize for the delay. We will follow up again with our finance team. " the same message from 2 months. I ll appreciate your help.
I finally got refund today, after many complaints. Problem solved.
