SPARE YOURSELF FROM TROUBLE LET:
If you haven't signed with UBH, spare yourself the heartache and look at another builder such as Tilson (great prior experience; wish we had gone with them this time). UBH is a big con game, based on our current "never again experience." The salesman talks a good talk but knows the company walks a crooked walk. This means his goal is to deceive you!
THE SALES PITCH IS, "the house will be done in five to six months and you can move in without mortgage payments for the rest of the 12 month construction loan, while you fix up your current home for sale." THIS IS A LIE! Based on our experience, and that of many other posts on Yelp and elsewhere, I have come to believe that the company never intends to complete your home before the construction loan comes due. You will have two mortgages to pay if you believe their lies. The office manager (Selma, TX) will ignore you. And that seems to be the culture of UBH as you read other stories here and on other platforms.
LOOK ELSEWHERE, UNLESS YOU WANT poor workmanship, lack of communication, lies, construction material stealing to use on other homes that are just as behind schedule, construction material left uncovered and open to the elements for months, did I say lies, substandard lumber, broken windows installed as is, more lies, "the manager will call you in 15 minutes" but he never calls - ever!
CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISION. Their construction supervisors don't supervise. Unless you bring defects to their attention, problems don't get corrected. We've been through three supervisors, so far. The company doesn't even notify you that they no longer work for UBH. We found out from a subcontractor that one of them quit because he did not want to be part of the lies anymore.
It's been a year since the building contract, eleven months since the forms went up. Still not completed! If you want this fun experience, by all means, hire UBH. But don't say you were not warned!
This is crazy how much all these complaints sound identical to mine! Signed contract back in October of 2021 they got started building around February. All materials should have been at our location but oh no missing windows so there hasn’t been any work done to my home in about 2 months and by the way im on my 5th construction supervisor and they dont even tell you the previous one is gone! If i could go back in time i would definitely not use this company! my forever home is a forever nightmare
We closed in October with this company as well and you are exactly correct! It’s be a nightmare for us as well and still not complete! Would never recommend to anyone!
Pretty much hit the nail on the head.
I had UBH build our house in 2016. We are near the bay do we had it put on pilings 10' in the air.
During construction, before the house was dried in, it rained for 4 weeks.
The 3/4" tongue n groove flooring warped.
Ken Snow, the construction superintendent for our build from their Kendleton office told us no problem..you got a 10 year foundation warranty.. it's covered...
UBH denied the claim ..said it doesn't effect the structure integrity.
Other than that, pleased with the home.
Well just a follow up, we finally finished the home a few days before Thanksgiving and we ended up with 10 construction supervisors! And to top everything off the 3% financing we were promised after the house was complete was all a lie so now we had to scramble to find some sort of decent rate. This has taken a few years off my life but they don’t care one bit! And we just met a couple in the next town over that had the same salesman as us and guess what he lied to them as well about financing and everything else! This company needs to be taken to court or something
