UnityPoint Health Poor ER care

10/10 don’t recommend the ER here. I was in here a week ago pregnant, about 10 weeks pregnant and bleeding with a foul smell. The male doctor wanted to stick a catheter up my urethra without pain medication for a pee sample when I was BERY capable of peeing in the cup. He didn’t run any other tests like blood work or a culture sample. Then for the ultra sound ( I have not been to my on for my first appointment yet) the lady did it in less than 10 minutes and didn’t even look to make sure everything else was ok besides the baby. Now 1 week later I’m back in the same shorty ER where they are not busy having people wait 2 hours to just het checked in and when I had to pee and asked to pee in a cup they wanted me to hold it in waiting room for everyone to see until I was called for a room 😡🤬

Recommendation: 10/10 don’t recommend the ER

UnityPoint Health Shut Them Down

I have received the worst service and care from Unity Healthcare, of every medical provider I have ever had. I am well traveled, including with the military. Despite having a referral for a biopsy for suspected uterine cancer, they just repeatedly can't seem to muster an appointment for me. They make professional issues and problems on their part your problem. They blame clients for their poor service. Since they take government contracted money for vital, critical public care that we have all paid into, I think their consistent, continuous poor quality delivery of care is reprehensible. This is after I ended up in the hospital because of their malpractice and almost died, requiring surgery after severe hemorrhaging and extreme blood loss. They should be audited and shut down. They do more harm than good, use vulnerable and homeless people as an excuse, and are a scam on the public dollar. SHAME. WASHINGTON DC UNITY HEALTHCARE, including mobile services, nurses, doctors and staff all need to be fired and replaced with service that can easily do better.

Recommendation: Not even worth seeing. Ever. For any reason. More likely to harm or kill you than help.

UnityPoint Health Me and my sister went to see my dad and they told us only 2 people can come each day

Me and my sister went to see my dad and they told us only 2 people can come each day. But... it's gotta be the same two people every day. I checked their rules and it doesn't say anywhere that it has to be the same folks all day. This place should get a fine!

UnityPoint Health Zero Stars

Zero Stars. Nightmare experience. Would never recommend them to anyone. My Dad, a two time veteran suffered to die because of the way he was treated. Outside agencies have reviewed what they did. They said UnityPoint did not meet the minimum standard of care and what they did was cruel. No care or compassion. They just want your money. HORRIBLE experience-HORRIBLE people! BEWARE!

UnityPoint Health The billing office at UnityPoint At Home couldn't apply both of the insurances for me and my son

The billing office at UnityPoint At Home couldn't apply both of the insurances for me and my son. I had to call every time because I was billed instead of the insurance companies. Even after calling the billing office twice, they said they hadn't billed the secondary insurance and would do it. But it never happened. Instead, I started getting calls from a collection agency. The collection agency applied the secondary insurance to the bill. It's totally wrong and a bad business practice.

UnityPoint Health I got a cpap and stuff from this place last year, had to pay with my own money cause my insurance deductible is so high they don't cover it

I got a cpap and stuff from this place last year, had to pay with my own money cause my insurance deductible is so high they don't cover it. They charged me crazy high prices for the stuff I needed. Like, they made me pay $480 for a cpap mask that you can get for $25 somewhere else. And they sold me a resmed cpap machine for $1300, when it's only like $500 in other places. Don't ever buy or pay for anything from these guys if you need cpap therapy, get your stuff from somewhere else and save yourself a ton of money. I'm never giving them another cent, don't make the same mistake as me, stay away from Unity point cpap equipment!

UnityPoint Health This is a complaint against UnityPoint Health in Fort Dodge

This is a complaint against UnityPoint Health in Fort Dodge. It was a terrible experience. My Dad, a two-time veteran, suffered greatly due to the way he was treated. He suffered greatly as a result of your actions. You claimed to provide comfort, care, and compassion, but it was all nonsense. His body became swollen because you withheld his heart medication, which was very small. If he could eat, he could have swallowed it. He died in convulsions and foaming at the mouth. He suffered greatly before passing away. An external agency reviewed your actions and concluded that this was not hospice care. You did not meet the minimum standard of care, and what you did was cruel. It was a terrible experience. But you received your payment of $10,945. My Dad did not deserve what you did. Your disrespect and disregard for human life is unacceptable. Terrible! Terrible!

UnityPoint Health Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. Billing staff is rude! I used to work for this hospital and I am greatly disappointed by how much it has changed for the worse. I moved my kids to Pekin Unity Point. I put my mother's name down as an emergency contact, but they listed her as the responsible party for the bills! I received a collection notice in my mother's name for $60. They already received hundreds from our insurance company. They knew exactly who the insurance policy is under. After several emails and phone calls, I finally got a person and not a recording to return my calls back, while I am at work.. only to be treated like a scorned child. This woman verified that the bills were sent back as undeliverable because that person doesn't live here. She turned it around on me for not contacting them earlier about their mistake! I have been begging for a refund for weeks now and have never received one! It was a horrible situation and now I have to pay collections due to their mistake. I have never not paid any of my bills. I have been a patient with them for over 42 years. They lost my family's business. Too many hospitals out there! St *** treats their patients much better.

UnityPoint Health I've been tryin' to get UnityPoint Health to fix my insurance on their end

I've been tryin' to get UnityPoint Health to fix my insurance on their end. I've been a customer of theirs for years and they've always covered the costs of my supplies. I retired from the Army and switched my insurance over to my wife's, who's also in the Army, and my supplies are still free. Unity Point at home sent the claim to *** with the wrong SSN and it got rejected. Since then, they haven't been able to fix the problem and I keep gettin' a bill for $287. I've called 'em four times and it still ain't resolved.

UnityPoint Health I've been gettin' dry needlin' from a UnityPoint Physical Therapist for 'bout two years now

I've been gettin' dry needlin' from a UnityPoint Physical Therapist for 'bout two years now. In the Explanation of Benefits they sent me, it says that the charges for the dry needlin' are the PROVIDER's responsibility, not mine as the PATIENT. They're sayin' that 'cause I signed a waiver under pressure (if I didn't sign it, the therapist couldn't keep treatin' me), they can charge me for what's actually the PROVIDER's responsibility, accordin' to my health insurance (HealthPartners). *** C from HealthPartners has been tryin' to get in touch with *** at UnityPoint Central billin' multiple times to explain this to her, but she keeps ignorin' her calls.

UnityPoint Health I got a check from UnityPoint Health

I got a check from UnityPoint Health. I paid them too much and they owed me money. I deposited the check using mobile banking to my bank at Community *** on 7/25/28 for $29.00. My bank then charged me *** for a returned deposited item for a returned check (couldn't find AC). I asked UnityPoint Health to give me my money back and cover the bank fee. The person on the phone said I should send the check back and they'll give me a new one, but they won't pay for the bank fee I had to pay when I tried to deposit their check with my overpayment to them. Basically, I'm asking UnityPoint Health to give me my money back and also pay for my bank fee.

UnityPoint Health On May 13th, our doctor told us we needed to rent a *** blanket for our newborn child because she had jaundice

On May 13th, our doctor told us we needed to rent a *** blanket for our newborn child because she had jaundice. We were informed that we would only need to use it for one night. We picked up the blanket on Friday evening and used it until Saturday early morning. We had a follow-up appointment with the doctor to run new tests, and thankfully, the newborn was fine. The doctor said we could bring the blanket back, so it would only cost us for one day, which was $100. However, the place we rented from was not open on Saturday and Sunday, so we had to wait until Monday morning to return it. Surprisingly, they charged us for three days of use, even though we only used it for one day. They also refused to let us bring it back any earlier. The staff at the rental place had initially assured us that we would only be billed for the day we used it.

UnityPoint Health I had a surgery at UnityPoint Hospital Cedar Rapids in October

I had a surgery at UnityPoint Hospital Cedar Rapids in October . Before the surgery, they called me and said I had to pay my health insurance deductible, which they estimated to be $4770.68. I paid it with my credit card. After the surgery on 10/6, I got a letter from my health insurance company, Wellmark. They said they didn't pay $4665.90 because it was a contract or network saving, and it didn't count towards my deductible for the year. In December , I had another surgery, and I had to pay the full deductible of $5000.00 for the year. I called UnityPoint Central Billing many times, but they haven't given me a refund for the $4770.68.

UnityPoint Health I got admitted to a hospital in ***, **, but it wasn't UnityPoint Health

I got admitted to a hospital in ***, , but it wasn't UnityPoint Health. They sent me bills for ***, Acct# ***. Sadly, I paid them without checking with my insurance company (BCBS Federal) first. Turns out, BCBS never received a claim. I reached out to UnityPoint billing to ask for a breakdown of charges (it's been weeks and still no copy), and I also informed them that they haven't billed my insurance yet. I gave them my insurance details, but still no *** sent to BCBS. I signed up for their online system, but it's useless because it doesn't show an itemized ***. Seriously, what the heck? I called again and was told to talk to central billing because they couldn't find any record of my account. And guess what? The phone system gave me an error and told me to call back. So, I called again and asked for a direct number, but they wouldn't give it to me. They put me on hold for 15 minutes after promising to send an itemized ***.

UnityPoint Health Every time UnityPoint Health (UPH) provides a service, they assign an account number

Every time UnityPoint Health (UPH) provides a service, they assign an account number. I've been paying the bills they send me, making sure to note the account number, payment date, and amount (which is the total due for that account number). However, when they receive my payment, they randomly apply it to other accounts without informing me. Consequently, they charge me again for the same account number that I've already paid. Moreover, after they take my funds and allocate them to other accounts, they send me "final notices" for bills that my records clearly indicate as paid.

When I call to inquire about this issue, they explain that the money was applied to older balances. I request them to send me an itemized breakdown of the charges so that I can understand where all my money is going. They agree to do so, acknowledging that I can't pay the charges until I have this information. However, they promptly transfer the matter to collections, despite the fact that I am still sending payments for the bills they send me. It seems like they are taking advantage of the situation and mishandling the funds.

Overall, there is a significant lack of transparency and accountability when it comes to managing the funds at UnityPoint Health.

UnityPoint Health When we got our Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for ****'s well-check on September 1, 2022, we didn't get why there was a $177 charge

When we got our Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for ***'s well-check on September 1, 2022, we didn't get why there was a $177 charge. Our insurance covers well-checks 100%. *** called *** office ***). He talked to the billing department thinking it was a coding issue. The billing department said it was coded right and it was a BCBS problem. So, *** called BCBS. By now, *** was getting really frustrated. The BCBS agent called *** with *** on a 3-way call. They talked to billing and billing transferred them to a nurse who said that *** notes said they took his blood pressure, ordered the regular blood work, and checked his health history, all of which was standard protocol based on past annual well checks and there were no extra or new procedures done at that time. Based on this we don't get why he's being charged $177 for an office visit. Also, when the nurse called with the follow-up call to give blood results, it was part of the "office visit charge".

Because I've been working with a disability for seven years, my CMS *** got canceled. I tried finding a private health insurance company, but UnityPoint Health won't tell me which insurance networks they work with, so I can't apply for the right plan. UnityPoint Health I went to UnityPoint Clinic on 7/23/2022 for treatment

I went to UnityPoint Clinic on 7/23/2022 for treatment. The lady at the front desk said she couldn't check my insurance even though I showed her my legit card with all the info. I had to pay from my own pocket. I called the clinic and billing office many times, but no one at UnityPoint wants to give me a statement with all the info I need to submit a claim to insurance. I keep getting passed around between the billing office and the clinic. I need the statement ASAP so I can submit the claim before the time runs out. They said a supervisor would call me back twice, but they never did! I still haven't gotten the statement! The clinic's website says they take major medical insurance plans and will file the insurance. Cigna PPO is a major insurance. If the front desk lady can't check insurance, then UnityPoint can't be trusted to do what their website says. And now they won't give me the info I need to file the claim myself! People should know about UnityPoint's bad customer service and how they don't communicate or cooperate between the clinic and billing office. I want the ComplaintsBoard.com to help me fix this so I can file the claim. I have the dates of service, my insurance card (front and back), and an incomplete receipt that *** Express gave me. The clinic should already have copies of all this info because I showed it to them when I went for treatment on 7/23.

UnityPoint Health On December 15th, I talked to *** at Unity Point billing to finish up my current **** after having my daughter

On December 15th, I talked to *** at Unity Point billing to finish up my current *** after having my daughter. This was on a recorded line. My daughters insurance was turned on in mid November (born in October), so the hospital bills weren't back yet from her new insurance. I asked *** to charge my card for all current bills (except the hospital *** as it wasn't through insurance yet). She said she would do it, and I asked her to email me a final receipt. She did that and I got charged *** (see supplement). She confirmed that my account was all caught up, except for the hospital *** again on the recorded line. In January, I got a Final Notice for a service date of September 14th. Since I had confirmation from ***, and I knew that bills might still come to my house if they were already generated after a payment, I considered it paid and filed it away. On February 10th, I got a letter from a debt collector saying I owed $88.97 from the service date in September. I immediately called the debt collector and asked about the *** since I had confirmation. I talked to *** and she said that a part of my payment seemed to have been applied (17.03-see supplement) but not all of it was paid. I asked them to put the file on hold while I figured out what happened at Unity Point. On February 28th, I called Unity Point and talked to *** on a recorded line. He confirmed that he didn't know why *** missed the *** in December and would request his supervisor to pull it back from collections. He said he would call me in 2-3 business days to confirm. I never got a call, but I decided to wait a week because we all need *** in this time. I still never heard back, so I called again. No one answered, so I left a message with my name and phone number on the billing phone number. Please see supplement for remaining complaint request-Titled ComplaintsBoard.com Complaint Unity Point.
