USCI Medical Assistant Course
I payed almost $1600 dollars for this course ! out of pocket hoping to get a fresh start on a career change. The advertisement is not truthful. Yes, it was self-paced but once I finished the course, they mail you a certificate. During the course it gives you monetary incentives for keeping good grades. a total of 50$ they are supposed to tally it up and send it to you in a check form... All my grades were above 80% and they never mailed me my incentive.
Another red flag was that they say they will pay for your testing through NHA to get you officially certified ...FALSE! I called and the reps answer with attitudes. He told me " Pay for your own certification and email us a receipt and we will send you a refund. What kind of s*** is that! I was extremely upset because not only I no longer have the funds to at least take the test, they took advantage of me wanting to pursue this course. Yes, I take responsibility, it's just the opportunity seemed very legitimate.
Desired outcome: nothing.
Charges
I signed up for this program under the impression I could cancel as long as I was in the time frame.I called and did that in the appropriate time during the COVID season I did not know they did not keep promises. Did not complete not one assignment and did not receive any kind of materials for them to charge me the 1500 they have. They have reported to the credit beaurus that I am late every month on payments. They have ruined any chance I would have had for help for credit in desperate times.
False advertising
I signed up for the Phlebotomy class on August 2nd of 2022. I paid in full for the class which was the $989.00. I was told on the phone two days after and two weeks after that if I had finished the class and did not get a job after the class, I would be refunded. I was also told by many employers that US Career Institute was not an accredited school. Two months later I called to get my refund after not being able to secure a job, and Marcus told me that the policy was not true and that I will not get a refund. I filed a chargeback on my credit card and today, November 16th of 2022, received a call from a lady in her own house with dogs barking like no other and couldn’t even hear her saying that I had to pay a $989.00 course fee plus a $148 late fee due to filing the charge back. I informed her what had happened and said if I do not pay, it would be sent to collections. I am currently am 18 year old full time college student, also signed up for EMT school which will actually get me a job. I work only two days a week at the moment (scheduling conflicts with class/college) to pay for my $1000 per month rent, and am barely making that work. And after reading so many other complaints, I realized this will never go away on my credit report and that US Career Institute is truly money hungry and does not care that they are falsely advertising and scamming their students.
Desired outcome: I would like an apology as well as the charge taken off.
And on top of that, training centers to get your 40 blood draws do not even want to allow you to get your draws due to having no hands on training at all.

Cancelled after 5 days and they still put it on my credit
I cancelled within the time frame and was told that it wouldn't be on my credit. Needless to say it was a lie. They put this on my credit and refused to remove it. I was told when I called that in no way would it affect my credit and I could reapply with them at any time because it was in the money back garentee time frame. I go to borrow money for medical reasons and I'm told they put the full amount on my credit. I was informed that this is common with this school and unfortunately rarely do they remove it. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone.
Never received services but turned over to collections
I looked into US Career Institute in early 2016. I was hoping to get a certificate in medical transcribing. They were suppose to send me the materials needed to begin the course. I could not actually begin the work until I received the proper supplies. I started getting bills from them but I never got the materials for the course. I notified them that I would not pay a bill for a service I am not receiving. I was told I would get the materials. I never got a single thing from them (except of course bills which I would not pay because I had no way of knowing if they would follow through on their end). Several months went by and still no materials were ever delivered to me. During this time I became very sick due to an exacerbation of a chronic illness I had been diagnosed with the previous year. I never fully recovered and my health condition seemed to be worsening with frequent flare ups. By the end of 2016, I had been taken off my regular job and placed on permanent disability. I still had not received anything from US Career Institute and at this point I had become unable to do the home training even if the supplies did come. Had I received the proper materials I would still have paid for the service provided but since nothing was ever actually provided I refused to just send in money for nothing in return. US Career Institute turned me over to collections for an amount of approximately $1200.00 which remains on my credit reports despite my disputes with them over the charge. It has drastically impacted my credit score and since they keep renewing the report it will likely never drop off even after a full 7 years. Due to all this I have been unable to get a proper amount of credit I need in order to have some medical procedures done that might possibly improve my condition somewhat. With all that said, I do not recommend US Career Institute at all.
Desired outcome: Charges dropped and completely removed from all major credit bureaus.
Us career institute
I took the medical assisting class finished
Most of the course passed everything won’t 95% but it suddenly stopped giving me access to more modules I contacted student services and I really wanted to finish the course but it’s a total scam I didn’t get anything and they stopped giving me access to the course work. This place is a total scam I waisted my time and money, no one graduates because they won’t allow it.
Will not help you become certified in NC
I have held massage certifications in NJ, SC, NV and recently moved to NC.
NC state requires a reference from a bodywork or massage therapist instructor. The school has a "policy" that will not provide references. I was told over the phone that most students asking for references are from their college professors. I explained that the state board *explicitly* asks for massage/bodywork instructor. I was treated very poorly and was shamed over the phone to ask for this. Who else am I supposed to ask for a massage/bodywork therapist other than my school? Also, I did their in school training and was involved with clinics etc. Some of the program is distance.
Also it took nearly 2 years, 1.5 to be exact to become certified in NV because they had a distrust of the school. I had to sit in front of massage board in NV to be approved. They were able to assess my character in a few minutes so 🤷♀️
swindling people
Be very careful!
Run from them. I cancelled after enrolling for just one week and i returned everything they sent me for the first lesson over 7yrs ago. They then turned around to report it on my credit report that i am owing them over $1000 .
They report it on my credit report every 6month as something new.
They are destiny destroyers and not destiny builders.
Please don't sign up or enroll in any course with US career institute!
RUN!
medical coding and billing specialist
Do not take the course through us career institute!
You will not be ready for the cpc test.
I finished the course. Most of the course was learning the icd 9 coding, which changed to icd 10 8 months after I started the course. I asked about the change and was told that idc 10 was not that different from icd 9, also was given a practice booklet for idc 10. But was told by medical coders that it is very different.
I started working through the booklet, when I realized that I could not work through it because I did not have the correct book. I need idc 10 book. Which was $89.
Nested I had to join aapc which is $150 to join. At that time ordered three test prep test questions at $29 for 50 questions.
I missed 30 question per test. I relied that I did receive enough training in the cpt code book and no training in the hpac. Also had to purchase updated books at $89 each.
Now I had to purchase a test prep course at $350 along with a study guide for $114.
Along with the extra I had to purchase the test which was $350.
I would recommend the course through aapc. You will save money. The he aapc course will give you all the material you need, test question and the test with the purchase of the course. The only thing is you do need to be a member of aapc to get a discount on the course.
totally agree...don't be foolish as an ex employee.
100% DO NOT enroll in their courses. Around 18% of you will never start and are giving money away...and only about 15% will finish the course. Their DEAC accreditation is a farse. The individuals who rate for-profit schools completion rates have the best intentions...but the majority of their money comes from schools who don't even come close to their requirements for completion rates. The DEAC wants 80%...sit down with your school. No matter what bs they throw at you...they can't crack 20%. They'll say inactive students, those who didn't pay, or pay the right amount to help their cause, but the math doesn't add up. All in all this is a product you can get anywhere, and you are better served contacting your local medical facility on what they use. And I promise you it won't be this product. Avoid the heartache and stay clear.
did not get what I paid for
This online school is a sham! When i signed up for as at medical billing and coder, i expected to learn the skills of becoming an entreprenaur by starting my own business. They quickly put me on a payment plan to make sure they got their $1500. 00 but when i finished within 10 months, i received a certificate not a certification which i thought i was getting. I was also told that they would help me with my resume to start working in a doctors office to help me build client el for my home based business. That never happened. Whenever i called, i was transferred to a voice mail or the person i needed to speak with was never there. The real icing on the cake is when i threatened to call the dept of education, they stopped taking my calls altogether. This school is a fraud!

false advertisement
This school advertises for one thing and then after you enroll, they state that you need to upgrade your enrollement to receive additional books for the course. When I called them, I am placed on hold and no one returns the call or emails back.. At the end they blame you for not enrolling on the phone, because if that was done versus online, the proper program would have been chosen. In order to get a refund, you have to pay for at least half of the class and then they take out for classes you complete.

oooh really welll help me get certified after i have paid 1, 000 for no hands on training programs
I am the Assistant Manager of Student Services for US Career Institute. Many of our courses are available for an optional upgrade to include bonus materials such as books or useful tools of the trade. I would like to stress that the upgrade feature is completely at the discretion of the student and the course can still be successfully completed with the standard option. We do offer a review period in which a student can preview the course without further obligation. Our Enrollment Specialists are available to answer questions of any student prior to enrollment and after enrollment, our team of Student Services representatives are happy to assist our students.
false advertising/information
It is legit...only problem is you are not going to get what you think you are going to get. The website and brochure does a really great job at omitting a lot of information. In the packets I recieved I was told that by completing the course of my choice I would recieve a certification. I was told onver the phone and via email that Yes I would recieve...

To whom it may concern, I signed up for this program over a year ago. They said I would have my materials in 1 or 2 weeks. Well time went on then 3 or 4 months later I received a letter from them hoping my school work was going well and that I needed to make a payment. I called them and told them I hadn't even received the material. I told them I was going...
