Forever 21 - item process and system

My experience with f21 was very dissatisfying and frustrating. I had found burgundy ankle strap heels that I wanted to buy but there was only one side as the other was missing and, even after asking an employee to help, we couldn't find it. I was told that I could order online and proceeded to go to the counter/cashier to order them. Now at the store there was a 30% off sale for those heels but given that it was an online order, the cashier said that I had to pay full price with shipping (it came to around $32). That was fine. Once it got shipped to my house, I found a couple defects so I came back and asked for them to do an exchange. They said that they couldn't exchange it because it came from the warehouse so it wasn't their problem and that we would have to call their number and do the return there. Another option was to buy another pair right then and there and when I did the return on the defects, to just ask for a refund. That seemed fine until the price went up to $38 for the "second" pair. I showed the employee my mobile receipt showing I only had to pay $32 but she said it's a "new purchase" and she can't fix it. Shouldn't you honor the price if I already paid that amount? It's not like I paid a sale price either, I payed full price! I was perplexed and didn't find that reasonable so I didn't go along with that order, shipped my defects to the warehouse on my own the next day, and requested for a replacement. A week has gone by and now I'm notified that I won't be getting my shoes because it's out of stock...this whole thing took 2.5 weeks! I will be getting my refund but this whole process was extremely disappointing. It wasn't even about not getting free shipping or the 30% even though I found the one heel there- it was the store missing the other side. It was about the odd price change, the whole exchanging process, and communication system between store and warehouse. I bought/ordered the shoes at the same store and just wanted to exchange at the exact same store- I didn't go anywhere different. That became such a huge complication even though I simply wanted an exchange for my shoes that were mailed to me with a defect. Half the time, the employees were looking at me as if I should think up of a resolution of some kind- ummm hello, shouldn't the employee be finding a solution for the customer not the other way around? It was almost like a "deal with it" attitude. This experience left a very bad impression on me.
