On Wednesday, August 17th, I went to the Budget rental in Oakland (Earhart Street) to pick up a car. Upon completion/payment of my rental, I discovered that there were two customers (one of whom was myself) that had the same stall/rental car. I returned to the desk to see the same representative about the mistake. There was another customer at the desk next to me who was complaining about a problem she was having. Instead of telling me that he was handling my issue, he seemed totally distracted with listening to the other customer’s complaint. When I finally asked him if he was working to fix my problem, he just nonchalantly replied yes but was basically just sitting and watching and listening to the other customer speaking with the other Budget rep. After 20 minutes, I told him I wanted a refund and that I would go elsewhere. He stared at me and said “no problemo”. His exact words. He pressed a couple of buttons and said “done”. When I asked him for a receipt to show I was refunded, he simply tore what had been printed out and slid it across the counter. I told him that he should have better customer service manners and just got a deadly stare. When I asked him his name, he said “why”. I told him because I was going to file a complaint. He told me his name and I walked off. I have rented from various rental companies when I needed a car (I am a local resident) but have never rented from Hertz and never will again. What an unpleasant experience.
