On June 16, 2020 I went to LabCorp @ 601 E. Hampden Ave. Suite 340, Englewood, CO 80113 for pre employment blood titers, a quantiferon lab test and a urine drug screen test. I had the required paperwork with the list of titers and quantiferon selected. I checked in and my blood was drawn. When my employer called for the results - my CBC and chemistry panel results were sent. The titers and quantiferon were not drawn. Somehow the completely wrong tests were drawn and done. This mistake was discovered June 23, 2020. I went back right away on June 23 to the same LabCorp with the same requisition, explained the situation and had my blood redrawn. I was due to start my job June 29, 2020. I was told by the phlebotomist at LabCorp the titers will result right away and the quantoferon takes 3-5 days. I said this could be a problem for me starting June 29, could they please send the quantiferon right away since they made the mistake and now everything is delayed one week. She assured me yes, this would be done. Well, it is now July 5th and the quantiferon test is still not complete. I have called LabCorp CSR every day since the results did not post June 29. Every day I get a different story. I have a record of the calls and hopefully you do, too. Today the CSR, Melanie, told me the specimen was not received until June 30 due to shipping delays and it will take 4-5 days to result. Meantime, I have lost this week's wages and have incurred rent and living expenses. I will likely lose next week's wages and possibly my entire contract. I believe LabCorp violated HIPAA by sending the wrong test results to my employer. Please investigate this mistake. I want to know what happened, how it happened, and what is being done to make sure it does not happen again. I want to know what you can do to compensate my lost wages. I want you to understand the inconvenience this mistake has caused me, my family, my employer, and the hospital where I should be working. I should be working taking care of patients and I would be, had this mistake not happened. I understand the workload covid19 has placed on the healthcare system. It is no excuse for the mistake and cascade of events that occurred.
I await your response.
