I had a third surgery this morning. My doctor called in a prescription to my CVS located at 28740 South Dixie Highway Homestead Fl 33033 - telephone number [protected]. My doctor ordered a prescription immediately this morning after my surgery for Percocet for pain. A common pain medication. When we went to pick it up with an antibiotic and we were told that they are out of the pain medication. Never called the doctors office or me to let either one of us know. I asked about a generic and she said the doctor would have to send in another prescription. Great 5:45 pm on a holiday weekend. Asked what did they gave in stock so I don't have to go back and forth. The answer was no. He can send another prescription and they would see if they have it. They also cannot call another CVS. I wish I could use Walgreens. They keep you informed as soon as there is a problem and they would have called the doctors office to get a substitute prescription right away. This is not the first time. I needed an antibiotic for an infection I got from my first surgery and again they didn't have it and didn't know when they would get it. This would never have never happened at Walgreens. They are a pharmacy and should have the medication that a doctor would prescribe, should be able to call or look up on the computer another CVS that would have it, call the doctor if there is a problem and let the patient know. They have an attitude that "it's not my problem. I don't care". It's not going to help me with the pain I'm in but something really needs to be done. We met others that said it goes on all the time and the pharmacist could care less. You really need to correct this problem for others in the future. I'm calling my insurance company and filing a complaint with them. Unacceptable!
