I booked a Jeep compact car on priceline for $100 and chose pay at location. The location was Miami airport Fox (offsite) office, 3 minutes from airport via their shuttle. First of all, there was only one rude and grumpy employee at the register and the line was through the door. One angry customer checked in the back office and there were 5 employees sitting around. The customer came out and told everyone in the line they told him to leave or else forfeit his reservation. After about 20 minutes another employee (male, bald) came out and finally I reached him after 40 minutes. He said they don't have the car I reserved, which is Jeep Compass or similar, but instead has only the upgraded version which is a "mid-size". The price was 140 dollars more than the car I reserved but being that I had already waiting for over 1.5 hours, I wanted to get the car and leave. Then on top of those, he made me buy the insurance because they have no way to "confirm" I was insured. Eventhough i had it pulled up on my phone ready. Just to recap, I paid more than triple my original reservation and I waited over 1 hours 45 min. And the final straw was that the car that was "upgraded", was a Jeep Renegade. I paid extra for a car that was SMALLER than the original car I reserved and agent claimed it was an upgrade. Mandatory upgrade. Dishonest thieves and just poor service all around.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
Fox Rent A Car - unlawful practices
Dear Sirs:
I booked Fox Car Rental, Miami Fl through Priceline as I was having a Holiday family get-together. My wife, son, his wife & small baby were with me. My wife and I flew from the Toronto airport to Miami on Monday, December 17, 2018 and my son and his family flew from Norway. We arrived at Fox Rental to pick up my car at 10:30pm.
The car rental agent told me I was 2 hours late, so they gave my rental to someone else. He told me if I needed a car that it would be $20 more a day and I had to buy their car insurance, it was the law.
I tried to reason with him - I had a contract (he said, so what?), a baby was with us, how could be charge us $20 a day + mandatory car insurance from them? Then because I questioned him. he smirked, told me he will not take my abuse and refused to give me a car, he said "I have no car for you".
My family along with a baby were left stuck with no car, late at night. I went back to the Miami airport and rented an Avis car, reasonably priced with no hassles.
What is troubling is that this car rental company is very dishonest about prices, did not honor the price nor the contract, lacks customer service qualities and left me stranded late at night with a baby in Miami, a city I did not know.
Fox Car Rental needs to be investigated by law enforcement for unlawful and unfair practices and not honoring contracts that are purchased on Priceline .
Priceline needs to thoroughly investigate and remove Fox Car Rentals in Miami as an option.
