Rogers Services / Rogers Electric - Employment

Good afternoon. My name is Laura Sanchez and I am the wife of a former employee, Mark Sanchez with Rogers' Electric. During the start of the COVID pandemic, my husband worked countless hours and went into other hot COVID zones more often than any other employees. He rarely called in sick and always went above and beyond, even taking on numerous jobs far away from his home. In July 2020, while out in the field, my husband contracted COVID and came back home only to recover in the hospital, almost having to be intubated with the possibility of a lung collapse. He remained in the hospital for 6 weeks and was sent home on oxygen only to be told he was also suffering from Stage 3 Colon Cancer. Due to his absence and the ending of his FMLA he was released from employment on November 14, 2020. My husband received his cancer surgery and fought through chemotherapy for most of 2021. At the end of November 2021, he contacted his former supervisor and human resources inquiring for his employment once again at Roger's. He was informed that his employment was accepted and he was given an offer letter to start his employment once again. He completed the physical, drug test and filled out all the necessary paperwork, as well as offering his shirt size as he was informed that he was being rehired. After a very trying and difficult year of his covid and courageous cancer battle, this was a huge relief to our family. As, I am unemployed myself with a grave neurological illness that relies heavily on IV infusions, chemotherapy, many daily medications and round the clock home health and nursing care.
Well, he was just informed today, that due to a write up several years ago, the safety people informed his supervisor that he was not deemed to be employed. Mind you, this write up did not involve any disciplinary action and his many awards and bonuses far superseded this supposed write up. How can a company provide an offer letter one day, send him for all the work up, paperwork, physical, drug tests to prepare for employment once again, be told no in a matter in minutes? I would respectfully ask that this be investigated better and an explanation on how this decision was reached provided and also who were all the individuals involved in this decision. Thank you.

Desired outcome: rehire for employment as offered
