On1/24/22 I attempted to fill a 'regular' type prescription med recently at CVS following a trip to urgent care for a dental infection. On 1/24 & 1/25 CVS did not have it in stock. Clindamycin is a regular antibiotic which SHOULD be on hand along with other usually prescribed meds. This type of med is needed in a timely manner as a dental infection can quickly get out of control and have detrimental effects. As an RN, I find this is FAR from being health related professional service with the customers safety in mind. It is no surprise and completely understandable why many people are now turning to alternative measures for treatments and finding some help and relief. Furthermore, when you do "attempt" to call them, they MAY/MAY NOT answer after 30 or more minutes of waiting OR the call just hangs up automatically. Perhaps their inability to do the job is related to the overwhelming pressure for giving out vaccines vs the filling much needed medications. Certain pharmacy employees have been rude when you may finally be able to speak with them (if at all) and customer service seems non existent. My question is, if the infection gets worse/out of control and causes unwanted complications due to not receiving the antibiotic, who then is responsible? Finally, I did get true assistance from Emily on one of the 800 lines who was professional caring and transferred the prescription to a local pharmacy which filled it. Thank you Emily.
Desired outcome: To have my antibiotic filled before the infection gets worse.
CVS - Pharmacist lied and screwed me out of my months medication.
My husband had gone in to fill a prescription for his monthly medication. They needed a prior auth so they gave a 3 day supply until that went through. Then when he goes to get the rest, and they inform him they charged the insurance so now he can't get the rest of his medication for the month! Your company is awful! Every month. Horrible employees
They do this every month where they mess something up and then they are never held accountable! This is peoples medication and they’re not properly doing their job. Happens to my mom, my husband, and my aunt each month and this will be the last time we use CVS for anyone in our family, even though that means another prior auth and more trouble, but we can’t keep having incompetent employees messing with my families medication like this! Then to say not our fault we will see what we can do, wasn’t the most professional response and it’s entirely their fault. We should have paid cash, but instead they ran it through insurance knowing he couldn’t get his medication if they did it that way. No more ignoring them failing to do their job. I’m just angry
CVS - Filling prescriptions
This is not the first time I have had an issue with filling my prescriptions. However, this most recent time is a huge ball drop on their part. I had a corneal debridement on my left eye on Wednesday, October 23, 2019. I dropped my prescriptions off on Saturday October 26, 2019- this was for Vicodin for the pain the debridement brings, and Tobradex which is an antibiotic to prevent infection.
I called today, October 28, 2019 because the person I left the prescription with said that it would be filled by today, they just needed to verify the Vicodin with the doctor because it was a doctor in Rhode Island. Since then, I heard nothing back. As I called, I waited on hold for about 10 minutes before anyone picked up. When they did pick up, they told me that they were refusing to fill either prescription because the doctor didn't write my full name and date of birth out. While this may be protocol, I'm livid that no one decided to try and get a hold of me to try and resolve this and I now have a severe infection in my eye because of how long I had to wait to get an antibiotic that they never even filled or let me know they weren't going to fill. Ultimately I had to drive to North Smithfield just to get both of these prescriptions.
I never complain about things like this, but I have been sitting here in pain for almost a week now and now it's even worse because of the eye infection.
I'm not sure how to resolve this, other than the pharmacy being more proactive in reaching out to the patients to keep them in the loop. Because even when I ask for call backs about prescriptions being ready, I don't hear anything. But something needs to be done because I could have lost my eye sight if I didn't go to my doctor again and didn't go to a different pharmacy for emergency antibiotics.
