Today I was shopping in the Towson, Maryland Michaels store. My intention was to purchase a poster size frame and two corresponding matts.
I carried a very heavy poster size frame to the framing counter and gently placed the frame on the counter.
Approximately 30-seconds later, the Michaels framing associate, shouted at me to remove the frame. Evidently, I had placed the frame on someone's artwork. The owner of the artwork steps in and said that no harm was done to the "artwork" and obviously when carrying the frame, I was unable to see the artwork.
I waited at the counter for this customer to be finished. When the customer left
the framing associate barked at me asking if I had a question. I said no and left. That was bad enough.
I went to wait in line to talk to the store manager. She yelled at me to say that she was cutting fabric. Mind you, all of this happened in a full store and witnessed by other customers. I waited in the front of the store and the store manager acted like my complaints were irrelevant and that she was totally uninterested in my concerns. She told me to call Michaels corporate and told me that the number was 800-michaels.
Throughout the year, I have had numerous prints framed at Michaels and was very pleased with the customer service and the outcome. This time my experience was horrible. While I understand retail store staff are stretched, this behavior was beyond the pale.
