Great Clips

On July 21st or 22nd, I went to Great Clips in Falmourh, Maine to get a trim. I had been there three times prior and the stylist (Dane) had done a fantastic job. He seemed to have a particular technique for thick curly hair that really worked for me.

Alas... no more Dane. Instead, I got a young woman who not only appeared new and nervous, but completely ignored my (simple) instructions. I could tell she was a newbie because she had to keep stopping to check the lengths to make sure both sides were even. Too bad her training didn't include listening.

When I sat down, she asked me "what we were doing today". I mentioned that although I was generally happy with my length, I just had too much hair and it was wild and overly thick. I said SPECIFICALLY that I only wanted about an inch taken off of the back, thin and shape the sides, and hopefully get me back to where I can have bangs.

Then end result is that she took almost three inches off the back, my sides are still thick, no chance of bangs, and in humid weather my hair looks like it belongs on Albert Einstein. When I was in the seat and after the cut, whereas I was always offered an option on conditioner (how I keep the curls controlled), I was offered a SMALL spritz of what seems to have been the house brand of ineffective conditioner. What I got was so small that I felt like she was keeping track of tenths of an ounce.

I can now cross Great Clips off my list of places to get a quick trim, and once again need to find a salon that a) doesn't have a revolving door, and b) has TRAINED stylists. I would have paid more to not have to let this grow out before I can get it fixed
