I purchased my Cardell cabinets back in Aug, 2022. The cabinets were put in Nov 2022. I didn't realize that one of the cabinets had a crooked front face that couldn't be adjusted. The factory just sent it out anyway. I called Cardell, their sending another drawer face. At the same time I noticed that one of the wall cabinet shelf was warped. Their sending another one of those as well. I purchased a template along with the countertop. I verified size and had menards place the order for the countertop from Midwest. When I got the countertop, the edge was broken. I asked for a replacement. I waited another 2 weeks for the replacement. I inspected for damage visually. I didn't see any. At home I turned the counter top pieces upside down to attach the corner pieces. The next day after I gave the countertop glue time to dry, I turned the countertop over. When I was placing the countertop on my cabinets, I noticed that the top felt like sand paper in places. The most of it was along the front edge. It seemed like the equipment that seals the laminate was running out of Sealant. What gets me the most upset is Midwest placed a sticker right over the rough spot on the countertop. They have no quality control.
Desired outcome: This brought to Midwest and Cardell's attention.
Menards - Customer service
Are your employees required to pass a "How to Be Rude to Customers" class prior to being hired? Particularly at the checkouts and is a global issue in Big Rapids, MI. Poor/rude service that keeps getting worse over the years. Checkout staff is cold, callus, intimidating, and unhelpful.
I am retired and have a bad back. I also have an arm in a sling from a shoulder injury. Yesterday, at the checkout counter, the cashier watched as I struggled to put my items from cart to belt and wouldn't lift a finger to help. Then acted as if she was put out because she had to reach for a 1x6 in my cart to scan it. After paying with a rebate card I asked how much was left on the card and the response was a cold "check your receipt". Then, as I struggled to bag my own items, she looked at me and sighed because I was holding up her line while she was attempting to scan the next customer's items. This is not just an isolated incident. There was actually one trip a few months back where the I was insulted with the same type of attitude while THREE employees were leaning against the service desk, about 12 feet in front of me, watching. None offered to help bag the hundreds of dollars worth of items on the belt even though there were other customers waiting in line. Are you kidding me? It's as though you are trying to drive away customers! It's working.
I am currently in market for a dishwasher & refrigerator and will be purchasing them from Lowes.
Desired outcome: Too late for me. I'm already gone!
Menards - Mask policy
My husband and my 1 year old child and 4 year old were in the big rapids Michigan store location yesterday. As we were checking out we were reprimanded by the cashier. She told us our children could not be out of the cart without a mask on. My husband and I respectively had ours on but she rudely told me to put the kids in the cart or put a mask on them. My daughter is 18 months and it would be incredibly dangerous to strap a mask to her face, she would be unable to remove from her face if breathing became a problem. Mind you there is no one behind us in line and we are very mindful of social distancing ourselves. I feel as you are leaving the store the cashiers shouldn't be so combative about mask's on small children. We were told there's nothing we can do about it, it is your policy. Why would you have a policy where a 1 year old must wear a mask? And a 4 year old? Shouldn't that be the parents decision? So in order to follow the policy I put the children in the cart and left. I won't be back until this unsafe policy is changed.
Desired outcome: Change policy
Menards - Patio door
Found a patio door in the damage items for sale at Menards. Sales man took number off door punched it in said door was $300 said okay . I'll pay for this now and pick up tomorrow since store was closing in 20 mins. He said door usually listed for $1500 so let him get his manager. Manager punches # in and says he was unsure but expect to pay double $600 for the door, they would call next day to let me know. I call the Wisconsin main branch try to tell them about it they direct me back to Big Rapids manager who was upset that I called main branch now he says door is $950. I tell him they should clearly have it marked. Told a friend what happen they go to the store door still not marked they tell him $900 same day, $50 less.
