I was in the store today with a return and a basket of items I needed to pay for. There were two people in front of me and a person behind me all waiting for returns for quite some time. The manager of the store came to the front to assist, in the 10 minutes. I was waiting I was asked 10 times by another worker if I needed to check out if I was in the right line she literally asked me 10 times minimum. With body language and tone suggesting, I didn’t want to check out myself. I patiently and kindly responded each time. No I’m in the right line. I did not want to get in the kiosk line to check myself out because I didn’t want to lose my spot in the returns line. I needed to do a return! The general manager looked at me and said are you in the right lane do you need to do a return or cash? I said to her “No, I’m in the right line. I’ve been asked 10 times if I’m in the right line and I’m in the right line I need to do a return.” She looked at me and told me to “relax” in a very rude and condescending tone, body language etc. I was getting a bit frustrated at how I was being treated as though I’m an idiot, and I don’t know how to use the self-serve kiosk and I was in the wrong line. Once I did get to the line to do my return after all of this… She kindly did my return and would not ring up my items that I wanted to purchase. She sent me over to ring myself up. I understand how to use the kiosk. I love them and most of the times I prefer them it’s faster. However, in this situation, I needed to do a return and was treated unkindly, rudely, and the customer service was honestly very disappointing. My experiences at Michael’s are always amazing. I felt it was important for you to know how rude your employee / general manager was at this location today. Ask someone the same question 10-15 times and see if they get frustrated… lol
I tried to respond kind each time even though I was being spoken down to.
Desired outcome: She should be held accountable for how she spoke to me. It was rude and unnecessary. Also when a customer is doing a return, and having had waited 10 minutes or more, you should kindly ring up her items.
