Menards - Wash machine

Attention Galen Heckman
I purchased a wash machine back in July the receipt at the top says I have until October 14 to return.
My wash machine has quit working I had a service tech look at it they said the mother board is fried and recommended I return as its only been in use for about 2.5/3 months and I paid $800 for it.
On Monday (10/4) afternoon I went to the Menards store where I purchased my wash machine from (Brooklynn Park) and talked with the worker on the floor in the appliance area explained my situation was told yes bring it back & that yes we have the wash machine you'd like to buy in stock.
So later on Monday we loaded my wash machine up to return and purchase a new one. The person at customer service desk said oh its an appliance let me get a manager. The manager said see down here lower on the receipt pointed out the date on the top of the receipt didn't matter and didn't care to listen to me and said I needed to deal with Whirlpool directly. The top of the receipt says, 10/14 and I just wanted to exchange! And the manager simply turned around and walked away.
I was shocked I have bought appliances before from Menards and I have never been told the return policy is different and I was told by the worker earlier in the day I could return for an exchange. The receipt is confusing and very misleading and I am greatly upset regarding the way this is being handled!
I called the store the next day (10/5) and asked to speak to the general manage and was routed to the same front end manager who spoke with me the night before.
I again called the store the next day (10/6) this time I got to speak with the general manager and all he said was to I needed to deal with whirlpool. He didn't seem to care when I said Id take my complaint to cooperate and Galen Heckman as all I want is a working wash machine which I paid Menards for and not a fixed up lemon...
I feel Menards should have let me return/exchange my wash machine and they should have to deal with whirlpool not me. Now I have to wait at least a week and a half for a service technician through whirlpool to look at my wash machine and was forewarned if not covered by whirlpools warranty I'll have to pay for the technicians visit and repairs...
I have an in home child care and I need working appliances and can not sit and wait for weeks and weeks and hope it can be fixed (meanwhile I have to go to the laundry mat as I need clean towels, sheets etc. to run my business.).
Please just let me return this to the store and purchase a different wash machine I don't want a brand new appliance that needs to fixed with in weeks of purchase!

Desired outcome: To be allowed to return wash machine for purchase price so I can purchase a different wash machine that hopefully wont have the same issues....
