When I entered the store at approximately 11:30 a.m. on June 4, there were no other customers. I ordered an egg sandwich. When I attempted to pay, the worker at the cash register did not know how to use the register, and another worker had to be found to take my money. That itself took several minutes. While I was there, I also saw a worker handling and preparing food without using gloves on her hands I ultimately waited for over twenty minutes for my order, while in the meantime five or six other customers who had placed orders after me came and went. When I finally complained after twenty minutes, none of the four workers behind the counter seemed to know or particularly care about what had happened to my order, rather seemed almost resentful at my unhappiness with the situation, and simply prepared my sandwich and handed it to me without apology. Frankly, Indolence and sullenness of staff permeated the place. The manager, who was ordinarily there and who has run the shop very efficiently, was not in at that time, and perhaps that was the cause of the breakdown of staff responsibility and efficiency. I believe the handling of food without gloves may be a matter for the State of Missouri Department of Health or an adjunct office monitoring restaurant safety. In any event, I would advise against anyone patronizing this store for the near future unless and until the company cleans house.
Desired outcome: I believe a review of staff competency and qualifications should be undertaken. As for the health safety aspect, the handling of food without gloves, it goes without saying that likely one or more Missouri safety codes have been violated.
