On May 31, I took my 2009 Honda Odyssey to Mr. Tire, 2315 Davis Dr, Cary, NC 27519 for an emissions inspection so that I could renew my registration. They called and said I did not pass because the engine light came on. I came to pick up my vehicle and on the way home, it kept hesitating, almost to the point of stalling out. I turned around and took it back to them. I asked why my car was now hesitating, even though it was driving perfectly fine before I brought it in for inspection. I asked if they possibly did something wrong to it. The man at the counter assured me that they had only hooked a machine up to it. I asked him if he could check with the man who worked on it to see if there was something else he did because it was now not running correctly. He said the man would not be back until the next day and they could look at it then. I told him I was too afraid to drive it home so I got picked up and left my car. The next day, they called to tell me many things were wrong with my car and the total to fix all would be $1259.77 plus tax. I told them I did not have a job right now and could not afford that so I would be in to pick it up. They said that, no matter what I decided, I still owed a "Diagnostic Fee" of $179.30. I told him I never asked for a diagnostic to be done. I just wanted to know if the mechanic who worked on my car had remembered if he touched anything that could have caused the current problems that were not there before I came in. They insisted I pay the fee or that I could not have my car back. After discounts, they made me pay $136.21 (Invoice #197049) before they would give me my key. With someone following behind for support, I was able to get my vehicle to a mechanic I trusted, located about 20 minutes away. After checking my car thoroughly, he assured me that it only needed a tune up (6 new spark plugs and coil #5). He fixed my car for a total of $319, which was more than $1000 less than Mr. Tire on Davis Drive would have charged me. My mechanic assured me that some of the items on the estimate absolutely did not need to be done, and parts and labor were far overpriced. I am requesting that Mr. Tire at least pay me back the "diagnostic fee" I never agreed to for a total of $136.21. I would like to know how I go about getting this amount back. Thank you.
Desired outcome: Please refund the diagnostic fee that I was not told about in the amount of $136.21
