I purchased an online membership. I went one time and I no longer wanted to keep the membership. I mailed Planet Fitness (Salisbury N.C. Location) a letter requesting the cancellation of my membership in April. In May I saw that the company was trying to take the payment out of my account on a membership that I cancelled. I called Planet Fitness and I spoke with a female employee. Who tells me that they have not received a letter from me in the mail? I made her aware I did send the letter and that I no longer wanted the membership. She tells me that I should send the letter certified or come into the gym. When I had a chance I came into the gym and made them aware I wanted to cancel my membership and that I sent a letter. At this point, I am speaking to a white male. The white lady says didn’t you call I said yes she said I told you we didn’t get the letter. I try to explain how I don’t understand how you didn’t receive a letter and I have not received anything returned to sender in over a month. The guy says he can't cancel my membership because I owe a balance. At this point. I am over it if the lady stepped in and said she spoke with me on the phone and she knew my issue. That past due amount should be waived because theoretically there should not be a balance I did what I was supposed to do by mailing a cancellation letter in advance time. I don’t like the customer service provided to me. The male and female spoke to me with a terse tone. I even asked for corporate information and they told me it just comes back to them. I will not pay anything for something when I have done everything on my end correctly. Stay away from the Planet Fitness Salisbury location their staff could use in-service training on how to talk to customers.
