Menards - Customer service store manager attitude

On 5/24/2023 my wife purchased several items at the Scottsbluff NE location, one of which was priced at 5.99. When she arrived at home, she checked her receipt and discovered that she had been charged $39.00. She immediately went back to the store and with a store associate double checked the advertised price which was $5.99. She went to the service desk and inquired if she would be able to get the advertised price, the service desk contacted the Store Manager Jeremy who arrived a few minutes later. She asked him if he had been informed of the situation and his first response was, in a very demeaning manner, " yes and you're not getting this for $5.00" She responded that she was just asking and that he didn't have to be so rude and he responded "well you're not getting it for $5.99" She was embarrassed and felt that he was insinuating that she was trying to do something dishonest.

This is the second incident with Jeremy the Store Manager in the last month.

I purchased a refrigerator and washer recently, the fridge didn't get cold enough to keep delicate foods from spoiling, so I contacted Jeremy and he very reluctantly agreed to an exchange. When I asked if he would be able to provide free delivery since I had picked up the fridge myself and this time I wouldn't have any help to return the defective fridge and pick up the replacement. With the same demeaning attitude he stated that Whirlpool did not provide him with money to deliver their products. I told him I lived less than 5 minutes away and I thought it was just good customer service to have a couple of his guys load the fridge onto the back of a truck and run it over to me since it was his store's defective appliance that we were exchanging. He again very rudely refused, stating also that until I returned the defective appliance he would not release the exchange to me, making me feel again that he was insinuating that I was trying to take advantage of or trying to cheat the store out of something. I decided to just let it go since I understood that, bad attitude and all, he was fully within his rights to refuse my request. But this new situation with my wife made me feel that at the very least, this mans behavior needed to be reported.

Over the years I have spent 10's of thousands of dollars at this store and to be treated so rudely and with such little respect by this man is very discouraging and insulting. Menards has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau and averages less than 2 stars on Yelp and other online review ratings. I would think that corporate would take more of an interest in raising those marks.

I retired as a manager for the US Postal Service so I realize that usually upper management will side with their mid management employees. I don't really expect this complaint to accomplish much other than to make me feel that I didn't just roll over and do nothing. Thank you for your time and attention.

Desired outcome: Although I know it is highly unlikely, I would actually like to see this man reprimanded and at the very least have him receive coaching on the way he treats his customers and on his terrible attitude.
