Choice Home Warranty - Built in microwave

My Viking microwave display panel went out and you cant tell the time, minutes hours or seconds it is set to run for, everything else works but a technician said the part to fix it was no longer being made. I filed a claim under my Choice Home Warranty plan. They insisted the technician file the claim, which he did. They sent several messages indicating...

Choice Home Warranty - Their warranty contract

They are 100% a scam. My wolf microwave broke, and they told me to go back to Wolf for the warranty. The tech. that came out had no idea what he was talking about. I had to have wolf verify the tech was incorrect in his determination. My next conversation with the case manager she mentioned that my microwave is $2,000 and she is not going to pay out on that size claim. Obviously, it matters to the case manager how much they pay out. There is also nobody to complain to other than case managers. According to the company "they are the highest-level employee in the company."

There is no reason to have one of these policies if they are just going to make excuses to not cover anything.

Desired outcome: Fix my microwave or replace it like they should.

Choice Home Warranty - Reimbursement for services in an emergency

It was 91 degrees on July 17th when my A/C stopped working d/t a broken fan motor. I called and made a claim that evening. I heard nothing that evening all the way into the next evening when I finally called a serviceman and paid out of pocket. I have spoken to a few customer service reps and supervisors, all who can't seem to read their own contract where it specifically notes that: "An event will qualify for Emergency Repair if the emergency involves the loss of heating or cooling, loss of plumbing or substantial loss of electricla service adn the emergency renders the dwelling unfit for a person to live in because of defects that immediately endanger the health and safety of the occupants of the dwelling." It further says, "In the case of an Emergency Repair, You will not be required to obtain our prior authorization for service. Only in the case of an Emergency Repair, you may directly contact a qualified and insured Service Provider to obtain service..."

Naturally, I contacted someone once I passed the standard 4 hours and heard nothing from CHW. Unfortunately, the reps are not trained to read their own policy and neither are the supervisors. They can't think on their own and have no ability to understand what an EMERGENCY is, even as it is articulated in their own contract. I've been attempting to be reimbursed since July. It's now going on September. I intend to write the CEO (since no one in the company knows of anyone else in organizational rank). I also intend to post my experience on other sites to make sure no one gets caught up in this kind of situation with this company.

Desired outcome: No resolution whatsoever.

Choice Home Warranty - Refused to pay the replacement cost of a rang top microwave oven

On May 7, 2023, I reported a broken microwave oven to Choice Home Warranty, 2147 NJ-27, Edison, NJ 08817 under the terms of my home warranty policy ( Policy #: [protected] Claim #: [protected] ), which is covered under my home warranty policy with them. After their technician confirmed that the unit was beyond repair, I followed the company's procedures and submitted a claim for replacement. To my disappointment, the company offered a mere $191 towards the replacement cost, which is far below the market value for a comparable microwave oven.

Despite repeated attempts to engage with Choice Home Warranty, including requesting their assistance in finding a suitable replacement within the offered amount, my efforts were met with silence. I also sent a certified mail to the CEO of the Choice Home Warranty to resolve the matter. Their lack of response and refusal to address the issue have left me frustrated and dissatisfied as a consumer.

I firmly believe that the company's actions violate the principles of fairness, transparency, and adherence to the terms of the contract. As a resident of Virginia, I trust that our state's consumer protection laws are in place to safeguard the rights of consumers like myself.

Desired outcome: I am seeking a resolution that entails a reimbursement of $370.99, which represents the actual cost of a replacement microwave oven that I have identified in the market.Ash Noor22845 Lacey Oak Ter, Sterling, VA 20166

Choice Home Warranty - payment not received

We are a heating and cooling contractors we had started to work with choice home warranty on June 2022, during the next 3 months June July and august we had done multiply jobs for choice, they are stating that payment would be released after one month from finishing the job so on July they have mailed 2 checks ($928, $100) we continued working with them waiting for rest of payment.

On august they stopped sending us work orders, so when we called we got told that our account has been frozen for 6 months due to low stats from us, we got told that the money they owe ($15,453) us will be released on February 2023, when we contacted them on February we got told that we are in line to get payment.

From April it is impossible to get a hold of them by phone and they have blocked our access to online portal.

From our investigation this is their way of work,

*Use a contractor

*Assure payment coming after a month +

*Pay first payment

*The contractor thinks that he will get paid

*When they owe a high amount, block contractor and stop payments.

There are thousands of contractors that they did the same thing to them. (Numerous of Facebook groups)

It is a serious scam; we have filed a lawsuit against this business

Desired outcome: pay us $15,453

Choice Home Warranty - A/C doctor non payment for HVAC work completed

I was a service contractor for Choice home warranty. They had put us on hold in July for a job that needed completed. After the job was completed we were told the hold was lifted but we had no new calls coming on and we had contacted them several times and finally was told that we were temporary deactivated and to finish all our jobs on out board and that we would be reactivated, so completed each job. Then we were told we were on 180 deactivation and they would hold our payments for that time period. Over $15,00.00 they owe me. Our 180 days our up and they now say they are leaving us deactivated.. That's fine but I want payment for the work we completed. The had us complete jobs and had no intention of paying. I am told to contact accounting to release payment but they said that they can not until the hold is lifted.

Desired outcome: I would like payment for the work we completed. I have every invoice download even though they are no longer on the portal

There are many who have had similar incidents and share your story.

I have asked and called numerous times for explanation on how I was suppose to get paid after they promised me by credit card my first appointment. Now I find out that all the info I needed to file an invoice that would result in an error are no longer available to me and screenshot their message telling me that my previous diagnosis are no longer available.

Over 2 months of work and not one check or even credit card payment that they have promised me. Its a shame what they put their employees, customers and contractors through.

Choice Home Warranty - Denial of water heater replacement reimbursement

On Jan 2, 2023 I filed a claim when our electric water heater failed. On Jan 3rd I received an email from CHW apologizing that they could not find a vendor and directed us to their "reimbursement option". I found a plumber on my first phone call and scheduled a visit for Jan 4th. The plumber diagnosed electrical failure of our heater rendering it unfit for use. He had a replacement heater on his truck but we explained that we had to submit his diagnosis along with photos to CHW to get pre-approval. My partner and I are seniors with limited computer literacy. CHW's form called for specifics that the plumber was not able to provide since their company bills water heater replacement as a package deal without itemization. I made my first phone call to CHW's claims dept for guidance on how to handle this when I could not submit the claim form without such itemization. The lady put me on hold to see what she could do, but we were disconnected when she returned to the phone. Much time elapsed with additional calls trying to resolve this issue and to send the photos. We did not get a timely response from CHW, despite their form saying a response would come within 10 minutes, and we allowed the plumber to proceed. But we later received a call from Terrek at CHW saying he had everything needed and was submitting it to claims, while the plumber was still here. Later that afternoon, we received an email from CHW denying our claim because we had not secured the necessary pre-approval. We appealed but this was denied too, telling us that we should have sent the plumber away after his diagnosis, until further notice (although this appears nowhere in the contract or instructions we received, nor was it explained on any of the phone calls we made). We feel as though CHW took advantage of two seniors by directing us to an option that was almost impossible to satisfy in a timely manner. They denied us "on a technicality". This is unfair treatment of senior citizens.

Desired outcome: We are seeking reimbursement of $1,263.00

It's not just seniors (although I find this egregious), they treat EVERYONE in this manner. We, too, had an issue with our water heater the Friday before Memorial Day. They sent out a plumber (AMPED Properties & Renovations in Oklahoma) who advised that we needed a replacement. Being a holiday weekend, we were without hot water for 4 days. On Tuesday after the holiday, a "tech" (I use this term loosely) showed up at our home to replace the water heater. The majority of his time was spent continually pulling up his dropping pants (cheesy plumber jokes, anyone?), although he did manage to rip our existing water heater out of its location, leaving two pipes/valves leaking water everywhere. Witnessing the manner in which this gentleman conducted himself, I asked that he stop working and I proceeded to call AMPED. While on the phone, he got into his truck and took off, leaving water leaking into our home. After getting no where with AMPED, I was forced to contact another plumber to resolve the leaking pipe situation, Fast forward to Choice...they REFUSE to give us any amount towards the cost of a different plumber because "it was your choice to not use our approved vendor." I haven't heard too many positives about any home warranty company, but Choice Home Warranty is definitely bottom of the barrel as they're clearly about the almighty dollar and couldn't care less about their customers.

We are experiencing similar treatment from Choice Home Warranty's 'sister company, Home Warranty of America, in regards to our HVAC system. Our HVAC system has been out of commission since Jan 12.

We are disgusted with how they scam their customers. We've been trying to locate the physical address of HWA and find it daunting. They make it very difficult to serve Small Claims Court papers. They also 'bank' on customers giving up to their persistence in declining the claim, because there is no way one can 'force' them to pay.

I am notifying every realtor I know, sharing our experience, and encouraging them to only represent home warranty companies that reflect their goodwill and positive character. CHW & HWA are false storefronts for theft and some other sorts of evil.

Choice Home Warranty - Policy #: [protected] claim #: [protected] leaking hot water heater (initial claim filed 10/09/2022)

I reported that my hot water heater was leaking. To this date, the issue has not been resolved. The claims manager informs me that: "1/10/22 10:07 AM) Ronisha Lewis: per our conversation claim will not move forward until you agree to pay non-covered cost of 325.00 to tech for modification for bringing unit up to code as well as permits and access." I have not had a technician in my home to evaluate the problem so how can I be expected to pay blindly? Also, the technician, peugeot drains, has refused to perform the repair and has requested to be removed from your companies' vendor list. So, I don't even have a technician assigned to my claim. This claim is over a month old, I have damage to the wall and adjoining room. However, this is what I received today: 11/14/2022 01:41 pm

According to our records your Water Heater has been resolved. If you have any additional questions or feedback, please reply below.

It has not been resolved and your company is in breach of contract. I have many pictures and video but regardless what format I put them in, I am not able to submit them through this portal.

Desired outcome: Replace water heater and any damage resulting from the delay in my claim.

Choice Home Warranty - Address problem

July 10, 2022

Choice Home Warranty

2147 Rt 27 South

4th Floor

Edison, NJ 08817

To Whom It May Concern:

Policy [protected]

7/7/2022: Filed online claim with Choice Home Warranty for A/C not cooling the house. After about 2 hours I called the CWH to follow up since I never received an email or phone call. Customer Service stated that dispatchers were manually calling service providers in my area.

7/8/22: I called CHW to follow up on my claim. The man that answered told me that to speak to the Claims Department I had to call a different number, I informed him that he could transfer me to Claims, like they did yesterday and he informed me I was wrong. I hung up, called back and asked to speak to Claims, and was transferred. Customer Service stated that dispatchers were manually calling service providers in my area and that I could use the “Reimbursement Option”. I declined.

7/9/22: I called CHW to follow up on my claim. Customer Service stated that dispatchers were manually calling service providers in my area and that I could use the “Reimbursement Option”. I declined. I then called five local service providers in my area. I asked for a list of the service providers that have been called so far, they declined to give me that information.

One Way https://onewayhvactexas.com/midland-tx/

First Service https://www.firstservice.org

Billy Black https://www.billyblackhvac.com

Aire Serv https://www.aireserv.com

The Right Way https://therightwayhvactexas.com/

I inquired at each one if they worked with CHW Reimbursement Option, that if they came out to service my AC would they follow up with CHW’s demands so I could receive my reimbursement. They all stated that No, they DO NOT work with CWH under any circumstances. After receiving this news, I further declined the offer to use CHW “Reimbursement Option”.

7/10/22: day 4 of no AC in my home, in Texas, in July, with 3 dogs and a small child. I called CHW to follow up on my claim. Customer Service stated that dispatchers were manually calling service providers in my area and that I could use the “Reimbursement Option”.

I filed a complaint with BBB and noticed over 10,000 complaints against this business. So I investigated and have decided to file with NJ Attorney General: Division of Consumer Affairs, Office of Attorney General TX: Consumer Protection Division and, as CHW so generously stated in their fine print; TX Department of Licensing and Regulation.

7/11/22: day 5 of no AC in my home. After reporting CHW to BBB and TX Attorney General last night I received an email this morning that my claim was assigned to Adequate AC and Heating in Odessa for a tech to come out between 11am-3pm today. After sitting here waiting for 3 hours I called Adequate AC and Heating and they informed me that they HAVE NOT RECEIVED A WORK ORDER FROM YOUR COMPANY FOR THIS JOB AT ALL. They also stated I am the 5th customer today to have this same issue, that they are willing, able and ready to get this job started but they can't until they have a work order from you. So, yet again I am on the phone with your company to find out why you failed to do your job yet again.

7/12/22 Tech came out and informed me and you that I have a freon leak in a condenser coil and that the coil is under manufacturer warranty but is on backorder from 12-18 weeks. You stated, thats not our problem and offered to pay him $1400 for the job, using the part that wont be here until November and that I have to pay $400 out of pocket for. I called to ask for another option. I didnt get an answer and was on hold for another 30min before I had to hang up.

7/13/22: I am on hold yet again to find out why I have to pay $400 and why I have to wait for a part to arrive in November. I spoke to a very nice and helpful man who assigned me a case manager to discuss the fee and the other option of having the tech simply weld the coil. I now have to wait for an email with case manager information.

7/15/22: case manager stated fee is for disposal and permits, which no permits are needed nor is there any disposal of the unit. Denied welding repair of AC unit, stated the HVAC tech told him it would cause more damage, which is a lie, since the HVAC tech told me that welding it would save them money and be done in 2hrs. The case manager straight up lied. The refund of $50 would be looked into. So, there it is. CHW is making me wait 12-18 weeks for AC repair with a child and pets in the home.

I am a single mother, and a veteran. I live paycheck to paycheck and if for one second I thought I could pay upwards of $1500 to get my AC or any other appliance that's broken, fixed, I’d sure do it. But I can’t, and that's why I pay a company like YOURS to fix the broken things. I am so frustrated, angry and worried it's making me ill. [censored] you guys.

ENC: This email was sent to case manager Kenneth Poole on 7/17/22

Let's think on these things:

1. You won't let me get my AC condenser coil repaired via welding from HVAC tech because you stated: He told us it would cause more damage to the unit down the road"I called the HVAC tech, he in fact, never said that, he actually recommended it. So, you lied to me.

2. I have a freon leak in my outside unit. I have 3 dogs. Freon is sweet like antifreeze and dogs lick it. So, for the next 12-18 weeks I will have freon leaking into my backyard... with 3 dogs.

3. Since I am not an HVAC tech how am I supposed to know when my AC unit is completely depleted of freon? The unit is still running. So in 12-18 weeks when my AC unit is completely fried because it ran without freon for who knows how long... You will owe me a whole new unit, upwards of $5000."While a leak outdoors poses little threat to you, leaked Freon can harm plants and animals, as well as contribute to ozone layer damage. In addition, a low refrigerant level places strain on your air conditioner’s compressor, causing damage to this and other components. Run your A/C too long without enough refrigerant, and the system could fail completely."

4. I have a small child, it's 88* in our home. It's only a matter of time before she gets sick from this.

5. Freon is $70.00 a pound and my unit needs 14lbs, do the math. Each day that CHW denies my claim for repair I lose more freon. In 12-18 weeks I'm sure it will all be gone, so you will then have to pay for a refill, and you will pay... So maybe if it's repaired NOW you won't have to spend so much LATER.

I have filed complaints with BBB, NJ and TX Attorney Generals and TX Division of Licensing and Regulations. I've gotten a lawyer disbarred and beaten the IRS on my own. I've got nothing but time, and plenty of ink. I'll take this as high as I can, CHW will be famous. You overcharged me $50, and took $420 payment for services not rendered. Let Adequate AC repair my leak with full payment to him, freon replaced and the bogus charge of $375 for disposal and permits (for which the HVAC tech has no idea what that even means, so you lied to me TWICE) waived and I'll drop this. Do the right thing. It shouldn't be about money when people are suffering and YOU can make it better.

Desired outcome: Complete replacement of my AC system within 14 days, AND a full refund of $370 contract payment, AND a written apology

Choice Home Warranty - Deadbeat home warranty company

CHOICE Home Warranty Company - Deadbeat company
I purchased a 42 month home warranty with Choice 9/2021 for $1176. In August of 2021, my HVAC completely broke down. Choice could not find a technician as the weather was 95 degrees. I contacted the last company they sent and it agreed to service the unit, even though CHOICE was not paying for services on other jobs they accepted. CHOICE and the service company agreed to the reimbursal method so my technician posted the estimate on their site. Choice replied on their website to me indicating the work could be completed. Now that it is done, Choice will not cover the work. I asked to cancel the policy and they will only refund $426 for the policy that still has 31 months left on it. DO NOT USE CHOICE HOME WARRANTY! They are a deadbeat home warranty company.

My close friend is experiencing the same issue with CHOICE for her appliances. This is a pattern of behavior for CHOICE Home Warranty. The best advice is to bank the monthly fee and cover your own service issues when they arise. Whatever the case, do not use CHOICE Home Warranty.

Choice Home Warranty - Home warranty

It would be so nice if Someone at Choice Home Warranty can find a way to Please Help Us with consideration, understanding, and Customer Service.

Choice Home Warranty (CHW) policy - [protected], regarding claim number - [protected], on 05/22/2021, I truly feel discriminated against, and that we have been treated extremely unfairly by CHW. I am a handicapped and disabled senior citizen who needs help - Please understand, I have only very limited computer and online data skills and can barely even open an email up. I turned in a claim for a partial drain blockage in our home (half of our home was draining and half was not), we waited and did not hear back from CHW or a plumber all day long - later saw an email stating CHW will be dispatching a plumbing contractor to correct this issue. Waited 24 hours and was not contacted by CHW nor any plumbing contractor, then saw another email stating we could obtain a plumbing contractor ourselves, which we had no choice but to do. Plumbing contractor came out mid morning on a Sunday, on an after hours rate, the plumber first mentioned to us he could not locate what he called a clean out, then he pulled toilet, snaked the drain from there and got the not draining half of home, draining again. Tested entire home and saw drainage issue was corrected. Attempted faxing plumber's statement to CHW for reimbursement. Contacted CHW and was told they would not compensate us for this service, because it was not approved - after them telling us to contact a plumber ourselves. Did attempt contacting CHW and got a recorded message to call back and contact them during regular working hours. We do not know in our contract, if there is any funding available for floor repair for plumbing drainage stoppage damages or not. CHW obviously has no interest in customer satisfaction - at least to us anyway. It is also clear to see that contractors that will not respond to them for their customer's issues either. This becomes even more obvious, from our own perspective, as they have treated us this same exact way before.

Back in 2019, we had an issue with a leaking water heater, that caused some flooring damage to our utility room, same policy - [protected]; with claim number - [protected], on 11/25/2019. CHW did not dispatch any help to us then either, and after time went by and water continuing to leak, they instructed us to contact a plumber ourselves, which we did. By this time the flooring in utility room had become compromised, and had to be repaired before water heater could be replaced, so we were out days before this situation finally got repaired. We have received absolutely no help at all from CHW, no support at all from CHW, no commitment for service at all from CHW, no understanding or consideration at all from CHW, and no reimbursement at all from Choice Home Warranty regarding 2 claims. Only contempt has been shown to us by Home Choice Warranty, and all for us putting our trust in them to take care of our home, to the tune of $1050.00 on 04/15/2018. If they are not abled to cover every aspect of a water heater failure, they should remove it from their list of covered appliances. We truly feel cheated and that the money we paid to CHW, in good faith, was wasted on them. If nothing else, will be done by CHW, we would like every cent of the $1050.00 refunded back to us, because CHW has done absolutely nothing whatsoever to help us in any way. CHW should handle handicapped and disabled senior citizens who have no computer skills with total care & more understanding, and not be so concerned about getting approval when they can be provided true statements and invoices from the contractors they instruct their clients to call for services, which are stated that CHW will provide, but do not.

Sincerely,

Choice Home Warranty - Kenmore elite washer repair claim number 118468995. Choice home warranty

Technician came out and indicated that washer could be repaired, but had to turn the information into Choice Home Warranty for authorization. I received an email from a case manager indicating that they have elected to not repair nor replace the washer, but offered a sum of money that could be used to replace the washer. The amount of money offered was half the amount required to replace the washer at the most inexpensive store that could be found.
I had another conversation with the case manager indicating this problem and she says that the amount of money offered is the best they could do and could not offer a replacement washer as an option. I asked her how do you come up with the calculations for the money offered and she said"that was done by another department and she had no clue how the calculations were done".

This is false advertising on TV where you indicate that if a unit is broken you would replace, as well as how the sales person positioned the offering when I was sold the warranty program. At this point, when my annual prescription is complete, I have no interest in renewing this warranty agreement. Totally false advertisement!

Desired outcome: I would like to receive the amount of money that would be comparable to replace the washer or replace the washer. At this point I did accept the amount of money offered after hassling with them for at least 2-3 months.

Choice Home Warranty - Ripoff and lies

I called CHW last year about my freezer for my refrigerator not staying cold. A technician was sent to my house, I paid him the $60, for him to tell me the freezer isn't cold. He was going to order parts without testing to see if any particular part was not working. Later that day, I received an email from CHW letting me know that they wanted to cash me out for the refrigerator because it wasn't worth fixing. I asked why they weren't going to try and I was told that I have to take the cash out. I fixed it myself, the part was $45. When I called them back to tell them, I was informed I already took the buyout. I was told that I could call up on the refrigerator after one year, even with the buyout. Fast forward to this year and my icemaker went. I put the issue in the system and they sent a technician to my house the next day. He told me the icemaker went and I paid him $60 for the service call. CHW informed me later that day that I couldn't get the part replaced because I took the buyout. So I called to complain. After lots of back and forth, I was informed that the icemaker wasn't covered anyway by my policy (it was covered with AHS, my previous company. I just assumed it was standard). I asked them why then did they send technician to my house. I was told they have to in case it was something else was wrong. But then the refrigerator wasn't even covered, so why did someone come? I explained to the case worker that I was informed that I could call after a year, from what I was told the prior year. She told me that wasn't true. So I was lied too and now I have to buy the part myself and replace it. Oh, and I paid for technicians to come to my house without doing anything, twice. I was basically told that for older appliances, close to 10 years, they aren't going to bother fixing them.

Desired outcome: I would like to get what I pay for: appliance coverage

Choice Home Warranty - Dishwasher

I called choice about my dishwasher not working and they sent out budget repairs to look at my dishwasher. When the service man arrived he look and said to me that your motor is shot and your water pump is not working so I am just going to tell them that its is unable to be repaired and needs to be replaced. I paid him $65.00 dollars for a service call and he left. He was in my home for a period of five minutes. He didn't physically check the dishwasher at all he just told me the above. So in other words I paid him for nothing. When it came to the approval process my claim was denied based off what he said. I the appeal the action and I was assigned a case manager tia wilson. Ms. Wilson also denied my claim based on what the service guy told them. I then called another service company and they came in and took my dishwasher away from the wall and examined the total dishwasher and repaired it in one visit now my dishwasher is working fine. I would like to warn anyone who is deciding to use choice as a home warranty service, my advice would be to save your own money in a saving account and pay your repairs from that fund.

Desired outcome: review to be review by anyone deciding to use Choice Home Warranty

Choice Home Warranty - Don't want to cover anything

I have several homes with Choice and I hate it that I paid up front for five years. Every time I file a claim the deny it and I have to pull teeth to get them to cover the repair. Tech's are told what to say so they can say it is not covered by your policy. Most of these techs are not certified. I just had a young lady come to fix my gas stove top. She did not have the right tools, my husband loan her a tool. She could not remove parts from the stove. She kept pulling on the stove top. She said gas line is connected to knob. I asked her if she had turned off the gas. She said you don't want to do that. You will turn off your water heaters. Looked at my husband she does not know what she is doing. I took pictures of what she was doing. After trying for sometime to take the burner off she said I am going to call your warrant company to send someone else. She could not do it. Next morning we woke up to house smelling like GAS ( Thank God woke up. We called CPS and they found the leak under the stove. Line had been broken. Two appliance companies came out and said someone tried to force removing the burner that was connected to gas line. They would not work on it. Called JennAir and they dispatched a tech. He right away removed the whole stove and showed us the gas line where it had been broken. He ordered parts, but cannot promise it will work. New Jenn Air is $2200 plus tax. My microwave went out last month and Choice offered me $199. for a $400 built in microwave. My heater to my pool went out and they said they are not responsible for the freeze. Two pool companies have come out and they have said it's 16 yrs old and it will cost more to replace parts. Better to get a new one.
This not the first, second, third time that that my appliances have been ruin. Dryer was set on fire after worked on, Freezer was foamed the whole inside, Water softer ect. But off course Choice says they are not responsible for Tech errors.
This company needs to be closed down. They are robbing people of their money and never wants to repair or replace.

Desired outcome: Fix my Stove

I filed a claim on April 2, 2021, for a dishwasher that was not working. They couldn't find a technician in my town, so they said to get my own and turn in the claim. I did, and the repair estimate was $549, CHW said the washer was too old and offered me $246 in the form of a Loew's card. I explained that there wasn't Loews near here, the nearest one was 95 miles away! And the $246 included the technician's fee of $45 that they owed me from another claim they screwed me on. They said it would take 4-5 days to send it out That was April 12.

I AM STILL WAITING FOR IT. EVEN AFTER NUMEROUS CALLS TO THEM.

My next letter is to the Attorney General of Iowa. I will invoke as much grief on the as I can legally do so.

Choice Home Warranty - Water heater

Choice Home Warranty charged us $300.00 for excluded parts when no excluded parts were included for the installation of a water heater. After I placed the order for the water heater to be repaired, we paid the $65.00 service charge. Thereafter, I received an email that, in addition to the $65.00 service charge it would costs an additional $300.00 for excluded parts. I informed CHOICE that this was a simple water heater replacement and no excluded parts were needed. Because the water heater was leaking, we decided to pay the $300.00 and seek reimbursement. CHOICE repairman signed a document that stated "did not do any of the excluded". The water heater was install 6/20/20 and I have been seeking reimburse from CHOICE since 6/22/20. Despite a letter to CHOICE legal department, 1090 KIng Georges Post Road Bldg 10, Suite 1007 Edison NJ 08837, Mr. Victor Mandalawi, President, CHOICE, CHW GROUP, 2147 Route 27 South, 4th Floor, Edison NJ 08817, George Foreman, Cooperate Spokesman and numerous correspondence with CHIOCE account center, CHOICE refused my request for arbitration and continues to deny my claim. My statements to CHOICE indicating that I have a statement with the signature of the repairman stating "did not do any of the excluded" and pictures sent to CHOICE showing no excluded parts were needed, CHOICE will not to reimburse us. I believe that CHOICE has committed fraud and misrepresented its products or as George Foreman would say "you have been sucker punched".

Desired outcome: Reimbursement of $300.00

Choice Home Warranty - Plumbing leak

They say they cover plumbing system and whirlpool. I had a leak that came from my bathtub on the second level and was leaking through my ceiling onto the first floor. When the technician came out and tried to troubleshoot the problem by first suggesting the least expensive item which was the drain which to me is part of plumbing, they denied the claim and said they don't cover drains. I pulled the contract and realize the contract says it covers plumbing and what is included and directly after reading what is included they list everything that makes up the plumbing system as excluded. Here is the contract - note that just about everything that makes up the plumbing system is excluded...

8. Plumbing system/stoppage
Included: leaks and breaks of water, drain, gas, waste or vent lines, except if caused by freezing oli roots. Toilet tanks,. Bowls. And mechanisms (! Replaced with builder's. Grade as. Necessary), g seals - valves for shower tub, and diverter angle stc ps, rinses and gate valves assemblies - stoppages/clogs in drain and sewer lines up to 1 00 feet from access point. Mainline cloak stoppages are only covered if there is an accessible ground level clean out, except: excluded: stoppages and clogs in drain and sewer lines that can not be cleared by cable or due or damaged lines outside the confines of the main foundation (even to roots, collapsed. Broke if within 1 00 feet of access point) - access to drain or sewer lines from vent or removal of water closets - cast to locate, access or install ground level cleanout slab leaks - polybutylene or quest piping - galvanized drain lines - hose bibs - drum caps - flange - collapse of or damage drain, gas, waste or vent lines caused by freezing, settlement and/or roots - fai to water fixtures, cartri (shower heads & shower arms - baskets and strainers - popup assemblies - bathtubs and sh (- cracked porcelain - glass - shower enclosures and base pans - roman tubs - bath tub drain mechanisms - sinks - toilet lids and seats - cablinc - whirlpool or grc jets - whirlpool control panel - septic tanks - sewage ejector pumps - water softeners - pressure regulators - inadequate or excessive water pressure - flow restrictions in fresh water lines caused by rust, corrosion or chemical deposits - holding or storage tanks - saunas and/or steam rooms we will provide access to plumbing systems thru unobstructed walls, ceilings or floors, only, and will return the access opl and repair and/or replacement. Our authorized service per contract term for access, di (provider will close the access opening and return it to rough finish condition, subject to the s500 limit indicated. We shall not be responsible of the cost to remove and replace any ceilings, and/or floors.

So in reality, they do not cover the plumbing system. I also thought I had coverage for the electrical system but after they say they cover the electrical system they literally exclude just about every part that makes up the electrical system similar to how they literally just about exclude everything that would make up the parts of the plumbing system.

This company needs to be thoroughly investigated as a scam company. They have had no problem collecting my money over the years. The few times that I have tried to file a claim they have found a reason to deny through their exclusion list. They should not be allowed to say they cover the plumbing system and electrical system when they exclude all components that make up those systems.

Desired outcome: Allow technicians to properly troubleshoot the leak and cover the costs to diagnose and fix the problem

Choice Home Warranty - Heating system

I have paid in advance for six years which expires in Sep. 2024. Now the motor of the Heating Furnace don't work as per the Technician they sent. They are denying the claim. This is most unheard warranty. I had call from their office and they are very reluctant to accept their responsibility and commitment. They are just trying to rip off the people. Must be investigated for their business practice.
My Claim #: [protected]

Desired outcome: I need the refund for remaining time. I need to cancel the policy with this company which does not honor its commitment.

Choice Home Warranty - Broke contract - scam!

The company has failed to meet the obligations promised in their calls and policy, policy number 877777978, contract term 05-24-2019 - 11-24-2022. and after bringing this to their attention, instead of working with me to resolve the issue, their representatives fraudulently canceled my policy another violation of said contract. I have recorded phone calls and hundreds of emails requesting resolution with company representatives. When responded to, they either promised resolution that didn't occur or requested additional time for escalation, which never resulted in any follow up or resolution. Management has been unresponsive except to state that the policy was canceled per my request, however, I have repeatedly responded that this is erroneous. Not only do they claim that they have canceled my policy per my request, which does not make sense as I had two years left on the prepaid policy and would not be arguing with them for several months after the fact if I so indeed requested the cancellation, but they also stated they sent a refund which I do not have.
TO DATE, I have recorded calls and 100s of emails, many with contradicting stories told by this company. At any rate, they refuse to mediate, they refuse to correct their error and continue to refuse to refund me for a policy they did not honor.

Choice Home Warranty - Harassing calls

I requested a quote while shopping for home warranties over two weeks ago and I have been contacted countless times; email, automated calls, in person, etc.. after third time I was contacted I said I was not interested and please place me on do not call list. I have since been contacted upwards of 2-3 times daily. I have filed a complaint on FTC site each time I have been contacted and each time explicitly said "Do not call me and place me on the do not call list." I have also blocked each call which of course originates from different number each time. I was finally told this past time from a "manager" that until I placed a complaint or had that claim processed with do not call registry they could continue to contact me. What can I do to stop this harassment?!

Desired outcome: Stop calling me!!

Choice Home Warranty - Will not install replacement dishwasher

*2/18/21
*choice home warranty company
*Spoken with Crystal Green supervisor about our dish washer being replaced after numerous calls to resolve install issue. She would not concede to have new replacement dishwasher installed at my residence when the existing dishwasher was not operational and kept repeating herself. Not knowledgeable about this policy in this situation. Why would you have low level personel argue with customers about Choice Home written warranty which is clear she was wrong. Ms. Green would not give her supervisor / direct report name or hone number.
Customer is first when resolving any issues and how can come to an agreement. Clearly this was not a priority.
Cannot recommend this organization based on service and operations persons.

Desired outcome: install replacement dishwasher

This is how they operate... they refuse to escalate, provide management support and bank on upset customers to give up.
Reviews and awards are mostly purchased. Look at BBB... they have class action lawsuit, the state of AZ filed lawsuit for fraud. Get your state general attorney and insurance commission involved now. You are one of THOUSANDS dealing with this same situation. This company is a SCAM.

Choice Home Warranty - Declined claim

I bought a house in central Florida and because of the age of it's 11 years old HVAC system I prudently decided to invest in a whole home warranty from Choice Home Warranty. They assured me on the telephone and in their customer agreement they covered HVAC failures. And the system failed in the middle of the that next year's a Florida Summer. I called Choice Home Warranty (CHW), they tried to find a local service to come out and check the system. Surprisingly (but maybe not) they couldn't find a local HVAC service to take the call so they then permitted me to locate a repair service myself. I simply used the same company that had been doing my annual maintenance for years.

They came out, checked the system and determined it had to be replaced. A/C and furnace. (In Florida about 10 years is the average service life for an HVAC system.)

My company put together a proposal and forwarded my claim on my behalf to CHW. I waited in the Florida Summer heat for a response. After a few hours CHW denied my claim. I vehemently asked them why through email. Their explanation was that "my system did not fail due to"normal wear and tear". Who could that possibly be a legitimate excuse? They had not even sent their own technician to inspect the system.

I filed a rebuttal. Declined. CHW offered me a refund for my warranty. But the HVAC system was the primary reason I made that purchase in the first place.

I filed complaints to the New Jersey BBB, it was met with a yawn, and I was out almost $5000.00 for a new HVAC system. So much for"peace of mind" from Choice Home Warranty.

Desired outcome: Honor my claim and honor your warrranty.

Choice Home Warranty - Denial of claim #[protected]

The Claim number is #[protected]. Filed on CHW website on 12/16/2020. It was denied on 12/28/2020 without reviewing the invoice from the plumber. (They were unable to provide one because, as my plumber stated, no one wants to work with them).
An email from CHW on 1/07/2021 stated that a copy of the policy was to follow that email notice. It was never sent. Now they refuse because I cancelled the policy.
After requesting a resolutions department person to contact me following my appeal there was no response for over a week. I could see where this was going so I cancelled on 12/24/2020.
I paid $1176 for 3 years. When I cancelled They said I would be charged through the end of December. And they charged a $50 cancellation fee. Plus they charged me back for a service charge they claim they paid on a previous claim in the amount of $102.70.
That should result in a refund of $809.04
However, as of today I have received no refund.

Desired outcome: Reimburse me for the cost of the water heater. $1495.00

Choice Home Warranty - Dishwasher

Choice Home Warranty said not repair my dishwasher, "It is more cost-effective to replace your Dishwasher than to repair it", because the parts to repair my dishwasher are not available or too expensive and instead the said they will replace it.
Make - KitchenAid

Choice Home Warranty is offering $229.99 to replace the dishwasher.
The actual cost to replace is $1, 899.00
https://www.kitchenaid.com/major-appliances/dishwashers/integrated-control/p.44-dba-dishwasher-with-freeflex-third-rack-and-led-interior-lighting.kdpm804kbs.html?

I would like to Choice Warranty to pay the actual replacement cost $1, 899.00

I've appealed their decision multiple times and Choice will not increase the amount they are willing to pay.
Dishwasher was inspected for repairs on Thursday, August 27th, 2020 by service vendor chosen by Choice Home Warranty.

As a vendor of CHW I have seen this and experienced it many times, where they will pay for a "Builders Grade" appliance. As a builder I would love to pay $229.99 for a dishwasher, but they don't exist anywhere except in the CHW pricing guide.
