My husband is a type 1 diabetic and was admitted to Sunrise Hospital for a stroke on July 23rd. On the night of July 24th, he was medically neglected by the night staff from 11:25pm-10:25am when they refused to give him insulin. This action sent him into full blown Ketoacidosis and he was vomiting and begging for insulin for 11 hours and was continually refused. At 10:30 am, the morning staff apologized for the "miscommunication" and admitted him into the ICU to save his life at that point. I spoke with the following medical staff who apologized and admitted error which was on-call Hospitalist and Endocrinologist. My husband's hospital roommate also witnessed him begging for insulin because he was over 500+ and feeling dizzy. This is completely irresponsible on the night staff and my husband suffered for 11 hours. All he needed was insulin because he has type 1 diabetes. I still can't believe this happened. I spoke with a Sunrise patient advocate on the day this happened, but I haven't heard back from him since.
I want to make sure this incident is reported, and the night staff is held responsible for their medical neglect. This needs to be fully investigated so no other patient suffers unnecessary for simply needing a life sustaining medication like insulin. This hospital is absolutely sloppy and horrible!
Desired outcome: We would like compensation for the 11 hours he had to suffer and the 2 days in the ICU. His bill should be wiped clean, and the medical night staff should officially apologize for their neglect and causing him pain and suffering.
Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center - Negligence on behalf of staff communication and rightful action taken
My granddaughter (37years old) Ashley Isabell Room 4526, was admitted to Sunrise hospital Monday 2/22/2021 for a low grade fever suggested by Davita dialysis after refusing to dialyze her. ER was great! Her catheter was infected which caused MSR blood infection. She was dialyzed through the same catheter Tuesday 2/23/21 while still infected because the dialysis nurse was unsuccessful in using the graph on her leg. The catheter was removed Wednesday 2/24/21. Her blood work returned negative for infection Saturday Morning 2/27/21. She was on NPO Thursday and Friday. By Saturday she was scheduled to have a new Catheter put in her chest. I spoke to her nurse twice and she assured me that Ashley would have a new catheter put in her chest late Saturday evening. Ashley was given medication for high potassium and medication for blood sugar. She is not diabetic. She became weak, nauseous and extremely hungry. By 7pm her nurse informed her she would not be getting the catheter put in considering that staff had left for the day. Still she has not been dialyzed. If the were your granddaughter what would you do?

Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center - Neglect
My 68 year old mother was discharged yesterday morning I was waiting in the parking lot to pick her up because we are not allowed to enter the hospital due to covid 19. She was wheeled out in a wheelchair and placed on a bench unattended while on morphine. Her belongings during her overnight stay after surgery were misplaced for over 12 hours. I was hung up on 2 times by the nurses on her floor. She was also brought a sandwich while she was to be on a clear liquid diet. Also was left unattended for several hours after surgery.
