Today I learned for the first time, in a very lengthy phone call, that my husband, who had Alzheimer's and is now deceased, purchased a $695.00 package in 2010 and charged to Visa card, for 6 days in Hawaii and 4 days in Alas Vegas. This gentleman advised that the package was good for 5 years and was about to expire but after learning that hubby is deceased he proceeded to attempt to get me to agree and purchase additional multiple deals so I could use the original package for an extended period of 5 years. This man implied that my husband willingly purchased the travel package and I said "because the Alzheimer's was talking" he expressed condolences but continued his harangue for a very long time (I was curious where this was going) because I knew that no matter what I said it would have cost me $$ - which I told him I did not have and I had no interest in going to Vegas! He acts like a good buddy coming to the rescue with these wonderful trips, hotels, flights and on and on. He even put me on hold 2x to check on things. He would not shut up even after I asked him for bottom line. I finally told him that since I didn't know about the original package purchased and I was not out anything and I was not paying for anything else - he ended the call very abruptly. My hubby had sent unknown amounts of money to other scavengers before we became aware of the full scope of hubby's situation and I quit work to care for him. Instead of trying to up sell me for additional $$, I feel a full refund should be made ASAP now that they know what the situation was - not only were they dealing with an elderly person, they were dealing with a severely impaired person. I have found no paperwork in my hubby's office documenting any of this.
WorldWise - Vacation Packages
This company called my 83 year old mother and talked her into a vacation package that she thought would allow anyone to go anywhere. Not the case. It is very limited and you need to give a few months notice in many cases. THEN...I find out they called her and sold her a second package in less than six months. There is no one to use these packages. I listened to the tape they have of my mother supposedly agreement to everything the silver tongued devil had to say and there were several times when she was obviously confused but he was talking to her like...honey this and sweetheart that. Really? I've tried to call and state she didn't know what she was purchasing. They won't listen. They said the tape indicates that everything was thoroughly explained. I get it...the first one is over and done but why sell her a second package when if you checked...you can see she hasn't touched the first. THEN...they tried to give her some cruise deal to be sure she was happy. Again...what good is a cruise deal that will never be used? I will continue to push back. She called within three days of this being finalized. I feel 100% that they preyed on my elderly mother. This is such a shame. She can't afford these charges and they don't care. They are lining their pockets at the expense of the elderly and it is disgusting. Once I reviewed it and talked to my mother, they should have refunded the price. If they are so hell bent on good service...they should provide some and compromise. We're willing to keep the original package but want a refund on the second.
Also...the forms they sent her to verify state: "Here at World Wise we have one of the strongest guarantees in the travel business as follows after returning from your first vacation with us if you were not happy with your saving and or vacation we will refund 100% of your original purchase with us." Not exactly grammar experts either but I guess you have to take a trip to get a refund! Seems a bit wasteful to me.
