New York Sports Club [NYSC] - contracts

I am a member at your club in Greenpoint and up until a few days ago was very content with the facilities and services that you offered. Upon signing up for my membership I participated in your fitness evaluation. I was paired with Taylor who I thoroughly enjoyed working with, and after our initial consultation decided she would be the best person to work with and signed up for 3 month of training sessions. I was excited about joining your gym and was confident that with Taylors assistance I would be have the foundation to get myself back in shape.

However, due to unforeseen circumstances, such as a death in my family on my end as well as personal circumstances on Taylors end we had only gotten through half of my appointments. Even though we had only gone through half the appointments, the end of three-month time frame, the appointments had been allotted for, was soon approaching. Whenever either Taylor or I was unable to make an appointment throughout that time period we had a verbal understanding that we would make that time up. However about 3 days before my three-month period was completed Taylor informed that she was no longer working with NYSC. At no point was I notified by management about meeting a potential new trainer or was any attempt to contact me to fulfill the remaining appointments. Which I still, have yet to have arranged or scheduled. Yet somehow at the end of my initial three-month agreement, I was signed up for more sessions without my knowledge or consent

Once I discovered the charge, I immediately contacted the Greenpoint branch about the issue. The response I received was that I had signed a contract stating that I had 30 days to cancel and I was responsible for these charges and that nothing can be done. However, upon signing this contract there I was told I'd have 3 days not to cancel and that it had to be done in 30. When I signed up for my initial membership your employee made sure that every cancellation aspect of my membership was stated and understood. Yet for some reason when it came to my considerably pricier personal training sessions, the cancellation points, were merely stated as 3 days not 30. Even after my recent review of the contract the language is very loosely worded. In lieu of such language as "must" & "required", there is instead use of the word "may". Regardless, as local business owner in the area, the very nature of the situation comes across as, I'm sorry to say, shady. To have your clientele be misinformed about a contract by one's employees, is concerning and says a lot about your business practices and staff training abilities. To add insult to injury the blatant disrespect that I experienced from the fitness manager as well as the area fitness manager was completely unacceptable. Perhaps if I were a man I would have been treated with more respect. As opposed to being treated like a whinny female.

All this combined gives me pause, as to why I would continue to affiliate myself with your business. As I stated at the beginning, up until recently I have really enjoyed your gym, however there are multiple competitors in the area who would appreciate my business.

Please let me know if you fix this problem and refund me my money.

Irene
