Overall good gym, issues with one employee
Overall this club is good, but I have a serious issue with someone who works there. There is a person who is young, curly black hair, and usually works the juice bar. He is extremely unprofessional and loud. He acts as if he's hanging out and not at a place of business. He curses, sits on the juice bar counter, and generally seems like he's hanging out. Several times I overheard him using racially derogatory words, that he probably thinks he's using conversationally as a term for another person, but is still very insensitive to hear from someone working at a place of business, especially with minorities at the gym. This person has no place working at this facility. He makes my wife and I uncomfortable with his behavior.

Manager Anastazja Wasilewski put loud music on scale from 0 to 10 all over in the facilities. level of volume was like it is Night club 10/10. Loud music you can hear own music in headphone. In locker room, in the sauna. All over loud music. I address the issue. Something new? I am a member there since 2016. Nothing like this in Glendale location. Manager Wasilewski said. We want this level of music. You are in a sport club Not in the library. I was not able to hear my own music in headphone BCZ This loud music was all over. It was unpleasant morning on 11/5/23 stay . All my piece was destroyed. I asked to file complain. I am the manager here. If you do not like our music This is your problem. Instead taking care of facility Machines, broken clocks or door in the shower or Man maintenance in female locker room Manager Anastasia Wasilewski put music loud.
Gym membership
Hi,
I’ve been trying to cancel my membership at NYSC for months. The problem is, the location that I signed up at, 59th and park, has been permanently closed since the Covid lockdown of March 2020. Therefore, it’s been impossible to reach anyone at that location, and emails to corporate have gone unanswered and this problem remains unresolved. I would like my membership canceled, bc I’m still being charged! And, I’d like all my charges since this location was permanently closed, to be refunded.
Desired outcome: Cancellation and refund.

Personal training
Was charged about $1,000 and I tried to cancel spoke to the personal trainer and he was fine with it but the female manager did not want to refund me. Then I tried to go back to the gym signed up for a 5 day pass to give it another try and denied me access to the gym after going three times already out of the 5. She never called she never even reached out drove all the way to the gym to be denied access to the gym because she left a comment stating not to allow me access. Do not owe them money for her to deny me access. And I still have a whole training session that I paid for and never got.
Desired outcome: A refund for the personal training if I am being denied access to the gym $990.66
NYSC Varick Street Charging me a full year after receiving a cancellation letter from the Membership Consultant

I was a member of NYSC Avenue A, as I live in the LES.
During the pandemic the club kept charging me and they never answered their phones or emails. To my surprise they went bankrupt and never paid back the fees, then after selling the Avenue A club to a new vendor with all of our contact information I realized they transferred my membership to the NYSC Varick Street Club.
In May 22 I was finally able to talk to a Membership services person who assured me that they will cancel my membership (and send me an email in writing) so i thought they did.
Now I am doing my taxes and going over my bank statements and I realize they have been charging me all along. They charged $32.43 in February 2021 and then $57.46 every month for the rest of the year including December.
I have never signed up to be a member of the Varick st club nor I set a foot in it.
I am outraged. What can I do to get my money back?
Desired outcome: To get them to stop charging me and to to please refund the $607.03 they owe me for 2021.

This gym has deteriorated and only caters to males who continually harass, yell at and threaten women who are there to work out and not be made to feel uncomfortable. Excessively loud grunting heard over me trying to listen to my airpods at maximum level to block out the disgusting noises from the classless clientele was not taken seriously by management. This gym is like being in a prison gym yard it is unsafe.
Loud blaring music
Varig St. gym started to play overly loud music. The current manager Rashad Williams said he cannot do anything about it because of the new manager, "she likes the pumped-up music for workouts". Many of us use the gym to distress and balance on multiple levels. Overly loud music defeats that purpose and damages the nervous system. Please restore divine order. Thank you.

Guys, please, i implore you, to NOT JOIN NYSC, nor give them leeway to any of your account number or credit/debit card numbers.
This gym runs a fraudulent practise. I have left a review on them 2 months back, and have submitted a claim of fraud to my bank as they were constantly been charging me membership fees, and even extra fees that are more than my monthly membership fees since the month of september 2019 i have cancelled my membership at. I only found out months later that exorbitant fees were being stolen from my account. I lost about $200. I know many out there that have lost more.
My NYSC gym was at (2311 Frederick Douglass Blvd, New York, NY 10027), and Maria was the one whom refused to answer my calls, and eventually when i got to her, she refused to refund me my membership fees, even when admitting that i have cancelled my membership in september.
I made a claim with my bank Santander, and recently got a letter from them stating that the claims were rebutted by documents from NYSC stating that my membership wasn't cancelled until the month of January which they tried to steal more money from my account from which i have had my bank block them from my account.
NYSC - FORGED FAKE DOCUMENTS, changing my membership cancellation date from september 2019, to JANUARY 2020, so that they did NOT HAVE to REFUND ME.
This gym is trashy. PLEASE DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM.

I contacted the manager of my gym, NYSC of Clifton on various occasions and even sent emails since the beginning of the year. I have been ill and have not been to the gym this entire year. I asked to credit me back or cancel my membership. The manager Anthony advised me to come in but I fell ill again and could not. Now the gym is closed indefinitely due to COVID-19. On top of all of this they had the audacity to charge my monthly fee again for April 1st.
I am disputing all of the charges from 2020 and I want this rectified. This is an awful company and the gym is always dirty and machines don't work either.

I have sent a cancellation letter in November 2019 via priority mail NY sports club in Ramsey NJ. the letter was received( I have proof of it and sent it to Alyssa, the club manager). i have called multiple times and complained about being charged for the membership in January, February, and March. i have never seen such unprofessional luck of reply. No return phone calls or emails. I have called the club last week and was told Alyssa, the manager is reviewing my case and will call me back shortly. She never did.i have fallowed the club policy and would like the club to do the same. I was contacted by Dan Smith| Senior Business Director. i explained again to him my frustration with the way the club handles my case. I have never heard from him again. i paid November and December fees as well as an annual charge. this club needs major management change.

I received such unfair treatment at this location, i just wanted to try out the location and I am a paying customer at the Bronxdale location. I was told by the park avenue location to just get a three day pass and if my account was in good standing i should be able to attend. when i got there i was told unfortunately you can't do that me being a member, I'm like i was told by another location i can do that. I was giving an attitude and made wait for 20 mins for a manager. I was gonna embarrassed and didn't not feel like a valuable client. I just want to try this gym to see if i wanted to upgrade.

One of the sales people suggested I would try the gym for 10 days for ONLY $1, so I gave him my card to charge the dollar NOT knowing they were gonna bill me for 60 dollars annual fee and two month worth of service that I ain't got nor sign no contract for their service to begin with. Now neither do the sales people or the gym manger want to cancel or refund the money. Now I'm being charged 180 dollars for nothing. This is by far the worst experience I have had with any gym.
Have your bank dispute the charges, and ensure that they are blocked permanently from stealing funds in future. That was what i did after they kept stealing funds from my account for months after cancellation. NYSC is the city's trashiest gym whom only knows to run a business by fraudulent means.

Yesterday I signed my wife up for monthly membership over the phone. Was told first month payment will be $5 and $19.99 starting december. At the end of the call when my credit card was charged under inv [protected] I got email showing that there is annual charge of $69.99 but total was 0 so I asked representative to confirm that im not being charged that amount and was told not now but in december I will be charged. I told her right away to cancel my membership and been getting run around. I tried to speak with manager but getting nowhere as manager is always not there.
