Elle Communications reviews and complaints 1

When I was looking for a job I had posted my resume on a few job search websites such as Career Builder. I got a call from Elle Communications saying they received my resume and would like an interview. Which was odd because I didn't remember applying for the position. Anyways I went to the interview and there was 5 people waiting. They said they wanted me to come to Round 2 of interviews to show us more about the company. When I got there the next day all of us who were at the first interviews were also there so I didn't see the point. This time there was a lot more of us and a different rep took each one of us to lunch to talk about the company. Basically they will hire anyone because noone actually wants to do it. They just gave us a bunch of BS before saying it a commission based door to door salesman. At first they said the hours are 10-8 but then stated they usually get there at 8. So you're wanting me to work from 8-8 without getting paid?!? They said they would have to talk to the insurance company about benefits so basically they have no straight forward answers. Because they are an independent contractor they can do what they want with the money you make. They promise you will get promoted fast except I asked how many people get to the 3rd position and he said no one at the company is there yet. You start out in the 1st position doing the dirty door to door work. The 2nd position you are basically trying to find people to do the dirty work for you every week. Sounds fishy & like a pyramid scheme for business to me.

I never even applied at this place. I had my resume on CareerBuilder, but only applied for insurance companies, So I knew right away something was up.
I don't know if this place is a "scam" or not, but they do have an A rating through the BBB. That has to count for something, right? I did find it strange that they "received" my resume for an accounts manager position considering I know better than to apply for a field I know nothing about. I do not know S-Q-A-T about broadcasting/journalism/marketing/sales. I am a healthcare major for crying out loud! Anyway, my first interview went very well and the guy was very pleasant. I was called back in for an interview on Monday (today is Friday), but I don't know if I should go. I am a horrible salesman, and I don't like to try to force people to buy things...kinda reminds me of a pushy car salesman. Any advice? thoughts? ?
I just had my 2nd and 3rd interview with Elle today, and I am very impressed. Not only was my interviewer very easy to talk to, he was also open to listen to what I wanted in a career, and he explained everything so well that I didn't have any questions to ask. Yes, as an account representative your pay varies on how many people you sell U-Verse TV to, but that's what a direct marketing job is about. If you didn't want a job like that then you don't have to interview there. You're an account representative for 2-4 weeks, and then you have a leadership role in which your average pay doubles! After 6-8 months (depending on how hard you work), you become an assistant manager where you now have a salary and you get 2x more pay than the previous two, plus 10% office profit. I think it is very admirable that you moving up in the company depends on how hard you work. I think hard work is everything, and a management position would mean so much more if you worked hard to get it, rather than was just handed it to you. I start on monday, so if it works out for me then great! But if not then I will post my honest review. I think it's pathetic for people who have no experience with the company to come and post negative reviews about something they know nothing about.
THEY JUST CALLED ME ! THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION, NOW I WONT WAST MY TIME
Too old for schemes
I take it that your comment was directed to me as if I work at Elle but I do not.. I understand your position not wanting to work at a company like Elle, but I must ask how can you terminate a former employee?
You said if any of my former employees were on a forum acting unprofessional they would be terminated immediately. Wouldn't that be up to their current employer? You can terminate someone who does not work for you... Just sayin
Also everyone has said their piece just like the person above said, if you want to work at Elle work at Elle, if you think something else is better then go do something else. I think it is pretty petty of so called marketing majors to get on here and act like an expert on something that they have no idea about. Also it is pretty petty of people to get on here and write bad things about a company.
Just use common sense people. If this company was a scam do you really think AT&T a major worldwide company would be working with them? So everyone who has bad things to say should go get the job you want and save your breathe cause my money says when you turn out not to be good at that either you will write another forum about that too.
This is to ThatoneRedhead.
Once again you prove that you do not know much about marketing. Most people are not going to call to get Uverse on their own unless someone comes by and explains the services to them. The main reason uverse is doing so well in the OKC area is because of the marketing through door to door direct sales like at Elle Communications. Junk mail and commercials are a lot less effective than someone presenting the product to you directly. Yes some people will call on their own to get the product but most will not considering uverse is still a new service. I know for a fact that most people have Uverse because of someone coming from their door, then those same people spread the word to their friends and neighbors about how good the service is.
How about you sell a product and just wait for people to respond to your commercials and junk mail and tell me how successful you will be, I guarantee you would fall flat on your face.
And FYI for the last time I do not work for Elle so I am not representing Elle in a bad way cause I do not work for them
And it can't be a very professional work environment if the company manager can sit back and let her employees blatantly use curse words to defend her company. Not only is that VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, it says a lot about character. If ANY of my former employees had been in a public forum (and as such a representative of MY COMPANY) and acted like an ### as seen in quite a few comments above, they would have been terminated immediately. Especially for a company whose main focus states it's in marketing. Seems that there are quite a few immature individuals working for this company.
So glad I too came to this website before wasting my time on another pyramid scheme. I have been in retail sales management for more than 10 years and just recently relocated to Oklahoma City and was unaware of just how many companies such as these will pull your resume and actually talk gullible people who have not experience into working for nothing. My last position I made well over 150k a year, but I did it the right way. Through hard work, and experience...not through some sham of a ponzi scheme.
Hey guys,
Again, Thanks for all the comments and opinions. I appreciate anyone defending our company, but really - if it is not a good fit for you, that is 100% okay. I have worked here for 6 years, and ran my own business for 4. It is definitely not for everyone, and again, that is okay. Everyone should interview at multiple places, and then if you have the chance to choose; Choose the best fit for you! That's what interviewing is all about. You can be successful anywhere, if you have the right attitude and mentality. I'm 28 years old and sickened by the Internet and it's shananagins! Lol just do something that makes you happy! And if you hate my business or marketing or sales or me - tell me ... call me or email me. Please :) -One Love!
I'llI'll have you know I have a good job lined up in November, I was just hoping to find better pay between now and the time that position is ready. Do you really think the way you are responding to every one of these negative comments make you sound like you even went past grade 12?
At least be professional in your attempts to defend the company. I may be a new graduate but, at least I graduated with something. Do you guys really think going from door to door is affective? Not in today's world and if anyone was really looking to buy into at&t u - verse, (like I did at one point) they would likely call an at&t rep. NOT sign up on a sheet with some guy at their door.
I am right about the high turn over rate observation based on your "90" people a week quote. A legitimate business would not rush people through 3 interviews in one day if the position was truly an important one. Try your argument, I mean, defense again and this time put some professionalism into it. You sound like a 15 year old who just learned the uses for cuss words.
