The day after my teeth were removed and the temporary dentures were put into place I knew the lower dentures were too big. Not only did they cut the inside of my mouth, but made my lower lip protrude. When I went back to Aspen Dental after a soft realign and asked why my lip is protruding, they just said, "oh, they are only temporary dentures". The main doctor, ground the teeth in the back way down so the uppers and lowers would meet properly, but this did not reduce the lowers from protruding. Into about the 4th month, after wearing them for work, I would gag the lowers out on my way home from work. The dentist did NOT do my impressions, one of the dental assistants did. The last couple weeks of having the temporary dentures I took approximately 30 hours of vacation because I could not make it through a work day. I had to use the denture paste so much throughout the temporaries I was thinking I had too much Zinc in my system. One of the times I went into the office with the temporaries, one of the dental assistants said, "oh my! Who did these?" I said, "Don't ask. Your main dentist did these." She got very quiet. The one dentist who seemed to be trying to help me, I swear, I thought I heard him say to one of the dental assistants, "These are horrible." After I initially complained and said I felt I was being tortured, they kept saying I should complete the survey. I did and it was very negative. After that, I didn't feel I could trust anyone in the office. I have my permanent dentures now, but I don't know if they are a good fit or not. I'm into it $8500. When I was getting the final impressions for the permanent dentures they told me they were based on the temporaries. I said the temporaries never fit well and made me gag and my lower lip protrude! I was horrified! Then, I'm sitting there in the chair with my mouth pasted shut and they bring in a form that says any adjustments to the permanent dentures would be an additional cost! Again, I was horrified. I can't afford to go to another dentist to see if these are actually a good fit. I am having a lot of issues with excess saliva. I also can't relax my mouth. It takes me up to two hours to go to sleep at night because my jaw/mouth is so stressed. Oh yes, I couldn't eat with the temporary dentures in so for seven months, I could not eat in public. They told me that was normal. I will not go back to Aspen Dental because I do not trust them. If they would have refit my temporary dentures I might have had more faith in them. I have my temporary dentures. A photo of them does not do justice. I thought I was being tortured for seven months. Sure they have a money back guarantee, but what am I going to do? I will not return to Aspen Dental. I'd like to know if they wait until your final fitting for everyone before they make everyone sign the form, "Any adjustments will be additional financial you will be responsible." Those seven months were the most miserable of my life.
