This past weekend, my husband and I went into the kangaroo express at 301 Providence blvd in Clarksville tn. We brought some groceries to the counter & the clerk advised rudely that we should have just gone to the grocery store to buy our items. We apprehensively had to explain that kangaroo express was the closest store, as we took a walk there. After very aggressively scanning our items, we tried to pay with EBT. The clerk scoffed, rolled her eyes then very loudly asked us why we didn't tell her it was EBT in the first place. And that now she had to "re-ring everything just because we didn't tell her." The clerk threw her arms up in displeasure that she has to do extra work.
Instead of taking care of us, she advised that now we will have to wait until she took care of the other customers. Which she decided to have a conversation with all the other people in line, with no sense of urgency for the inconvenience.
Finally, she re-rang all of our items, very very slowly, way slower than the first time she checked us out. In agitation, all I could do is laugh because I could not believe what disrespect & lack of customer service the clerk was displaying. The customers behind us (who we later found out were friends of the clerk), decided to start harassing us in line, saying we were being disrespectful by laughing. We tried to explain the situation but felt that the situation was escalating the more we tried to explain ourselves.
We put in the wrong pin number & the card declined, the clerk and her friends proceeded to "ooooooh" and laugh at the fact that the sale was declined after waiting all that time. We were extremely embarrassed and disrespected by the conduct of your employee because she was clearly encouraging this behavior. We put the correct pin in swore to never do business there again.
We attempted to give the store a second chance, as long as there was a different clerk to serve us. After we noticed that it was the same lady, we decided not to go in. While walking away, the clerks friends came outside of the store and started yelling, saying that we were not allowed there. Which was fine BC the of how we have been previously treated.
At the grocery store today, the clerk and her 2 nieces approached us asking if we were "the ones that were being rude to their aunt. " and to avoid confrontation in public, we just walked away.
This is going to be an ongoing issue and we are continually being harassed by the clerk and her family anytime we walk past that grocery store. I want to go and talk to the GM so badly, but fear that there will be an escalated situation that will ultimately involve the police.
Why do you keep an employee like that?
Why do my husband and I have to put up with walking to a further store BC were being harassed by an employee of your company & their family & friends?
Why isn't there anything being done About this?
I've called & left multiple messages for corporate but have yet to get a response. I will be posting & reviewing negatively on this location until someone contacts me & tells me what will be done about the situation, becuase at this point, its my observation that your company hires bullies to tend their stores with no reprecussion for their actions. My phone number, if anyone cares... [protected]
The employee is an African american, older woman with very short hair. Rudest employee ever. No company should hire her if she is interacting with the public. Hiring her is a great way to lose business to loyal and respectable customers.
