During around 07/01/21, I went to stay at The Red Roof Inn on Merchants, the Knoxville North location in Knoxville, TN. During my stay, I experienced very unfair treatment, rude and unethical behavior and loss of money, my full deposit back by one specific staff member whom I was told goes by Mr. Nelish Patel. When I first arrived there, I should have picked up on the first red flag to go stay elsewhere. I first requested to stay only for one night and as I was paying, Mr. Patel started to get a bit too "personal" with me. He asked me questions such as what's been on my mind lately and what exactly was "bothering" me. I'm assuming he picked up on my very tired and very obvious frustrated "someone picked the wrong day to mess with me" obvious feature/expression on my face. I'm not the type to go around wearing a plastered fake smile on my face on a day it isn't warranted and I'm not the type to sugarcoat things. I'm not a negative person, just a realist. Anyways, as I was forced to make small talk, I just told Mr. Patel that someone was peering their nose in business that didn't belong to them. He then started to get really weird again and said he was going to list two people to my reservation even though I SPECIFICALLY told him that it was just ME, that it would be just ME there for the reservation. I'm still skeptical and questioning the reason behind this odd additional unprofessional listing to my reservation. I mean, was he planning on inviting random guests to my hotel room or something? I can't help but come up with at least one random strange question for this strange rude and ill being. Anyways, so I paid the required amount for a one night stay and paid the required $50.00 deposit which I was promised I would be given back the day I am due to leave. The next day, I decided to go down to the lobby and ask for an additional two nights as I required more rest. On the third day of my stay, around 9:30 or so in the morning, I had asked a friend of my ex-boyfriend's to come by and bring me my Bluetooth device I had loaned out to him. When he showed up to my room, I had brought up an uncomfortable topic about a recording I had on my phone which I had reason to believe might involve this man as having something to do with. Not too long thereafter, an argument erupted between us two further escalating into me being robbed and physically assaulted by this 450lb or so man. Keep in mind that I am a 5'1' female weighing about 128lbs. This was one of the scariest moments in my whole entire life. During this whole ordeal which took place in my hotel room, as I stand there crying, screaming and yelling for help but no help ever came, I took it upon myself to grab the only defense tool I had to at least scare this man off and get him away from me which happened to be a pocket knife. Well, little did it do to aid me in any way. It only made matters worse for it angered him more and as he tried to grab it out of my hand, I ended up accidentally cutting myself. As a result of the cut to my own body, blood ended up getting on the sheets on the bed and as I fought to get this man off of me leading me to fight him all the way back to the bathroom, blood ended up there on the bathtub and in the surrounding areas as well. After he grabbed and stole my money and left me there in tears gasping for air after he chocked me, he streamed out the door and escaped as fast as he could. Soon thereafter I received a call on the hotel phone and it was Mr. Patel commanding me to get the hell out of the hotel room immediately. He asked no questions about anything, he didn't ask if I was okay or what happened or anything. I was in shock and I guess I told him that I would but I was more so trying to focus on where I had placed my cell phone last so I could contact 911 and report the crime. So I did. After I gathered all of the few belongings I had with me, with blood over my face, body and dress I exited the hotel room and made my way down to the lobby. I then encountered Mr. Patel and had asked him for my deposit back. He said the police were outside and that after I talk to them to come back in and see him about the deposit. When the Officer arrived, he made the report but never went upstairs to view the room and was no help at all. I even showed him the incalculable amount of bruises I had on my upper thighs but I guess that was irrelevant for he took no pictures or offered to have me come to be further observed anywhere and that was pretty much it on the police side. The only thing he offered to me was a ride. Yup, that's typical of law enforcement here in Knoxville, TN especially when it involves women as victims of any type of assault in nature and I speak from personal experience. After that, I made my way back to the lobby, blood all over my face, dress, body and belongings. Mr. Patel asked a few questions pertaining to the incident but never showed any concern or compassion of any kind. As I stand there waiting for my $50.00 deposit, he lays down a $20.00 bill on the counter. I then ask him for the remaining $30.00 of my deposit and he said that since there was "so much" blood in the room that that was all I was getting back. I was very much disturbed already from the incident which just took place and now on top of that by this nonsense. So then he hands down an additional $10.00 on the counter and told me to pretty much leave. I said I wasn't leaving until I received my total of $50.00 back. I said I did no damage to the property and that the blood was the result of the crime pretty much spelling out the obvious for him as he appeared as though he couldn't quite connect the dots. I asked him to provide me with a list of the terms and policies pertaining to things such as damages to the property as a way to warrant some proof on his end that this was intentional. He told me that there was a cost to these documents and that he did not have them on file at the time then. I was beyond frustrated. So then I asked him if I could please speak with the manager to which he answered that he/she was not available and to call back in a few days. I really wanted to spit in his face at this time but instead as I stand there in tears and blood all over me, I grab my belongings and head out the door. I then contacted the Corporate Department and about 45 minutes later was finally able to speak with a live person to make the report. I was told that I would be receiving an e-mail in the next 48 to 72 hours from the manager at the hotel I was just at instructing me on what I was to do next. So I waited and after receiving the e-mail, I called the hotel as instructed and asked to speak with the manager again. Well, what do you know? Guess who answered the phone? Yes, it was Mr. Patel telling me that the manager was not available and that he did not know when he/she would be back. So I've pretty much been calling back since but have had no luck in getting to speak with the manager still. I plan to continue on calling until I get to talk with the manager if he/she exists that is. I believe this matter should be handled in the following way. First of all, I should be given back my $20.00 out of the full $50 I am due back for the blood that was left in the room was NOT intentional damage, it was an OBVIOUS result of a crime. I will NOT apologize for this for I am a victim and this is no laughing matter! I believe that I should also be compensated for the total amount of one full day's stay at The Red Roof Inn for I was made to leave my hotel room before checkout time and not to mention that I deserve perhaps even more than that as compensation for the terrible things I had to endure, the biased, rude and unethical behavior by Mr. Patel. I did nothing wrong. I was enjoying my stay, I wasn't engaging in anything inappropriate, I didn't damage the property in any way; I simply just stayed to myself. Everything, including the really inappropriate personal "remarks" and addition of "ghost-type" guests being added to my reservation should be added and regarded as relevant and as a proof of why I deserve to be compensated for my very unwelcoming stay at The Red Roof Inn on Merchants, Knoxville North location.
Desired outcome: Compensation- $20.00 out of $50.00 deposit and one full night refund for early dismissal of one already paid for reservation
