The car that my wife was driving was backed into by a flat bed trailer driven by a Western Express driver. She was in back of this truck while waiting for a stop light. It was 9 PM, 12/13/2019. The accident was investigated by a VA State Policeman.
The insurance company that we were given has never acknowledged any of our phone calls, emails or USPS Certified mailings.
I have finely had to make a claim through my own insurance company to get the damage attended to. I will have to take responsibility for the damage that these Western Express truck did to me. My insurance company has not been able to use the insurance information that was given to me and the VA State policeman. They have gotten no response from them. Cottingham and Butler, policy # [protected]. The phone number that was given: [protected]
It is very wrong when this can happen to someone. I can imagine what would happen to me if I caused damage to someone on the highway and then refused to take any responsibility for it. The company is simply operating without responsibility.

I live on a two lane road surrounded by warehouses and Western Express trucks/drivers are the worst offenders of poor driving compared to other trucking companies. Going off the road and getting stuck, driving over the center line of the road, hitting other trucks going around a curve because they misjudge the clearance are common occurrences on my road—usually resulting in road closures. And the main offenders that I’ve observed? Western Express semi trucks. It happened again today, April 6. How does this “company” stay in business and where do they get their drivers?
Western Express only has an insurance company so their trucks are legal on the road. They pay claims out of pocket so they don't have to use their insurance. It's a front. One of their trucks hit my parked vehicle a few weeks ago. Brand new pick up truck that I've owned for 6 months. $5, 000 worth of damage. They offered to pay the estimated repairs but not until I sign a release saying they are free from their obligation. I'm not signing anything until my truck is back to normal and they pay my rental car fees and pay me for the Diminished value of my new truck. They are dragging their heals and I'm now getting legal help. I have witnesses to the accident. I have security footage showing the blatant driver carelessness. The driver apologized to me and asked if we could settle the matter without going through his company. Then he called himself an idiot and told us that he had only been driving for 2 weeks. I have witnesses for all of this. How can they possibly think I'm going to be dumb enough to sign a release before my truck is repaired and I have been made whole again?
When I drove for JBHUNT, sitting on I-81 south in Maryland in a construction zone, a Western Express tractor-trailer rolled back with the trailer and I sounded the air horn and he never applied the brakes and damaged the grill in the JBHUNT truck I was driving and I had a witness that saw what happened. It took a bit to get his attention to get him to pull off because I had the Maryland State Police on the phone. Eventually he pulled off but he denied his rolling back. This was in the 2019.
