I live behind a newly built Gehan Home in Benders Landing Estates in Spring, TX. In January 2015 I witnessed the crew pumping what appeared to be a truck load of a white substance into the ground prior to pouring the foundation. It was extremely muddy after days of rain. It was also windy and pillowy clouds of the substance drifted to my yard for days. My patio and entire back yard were covered in the white substance. Days later both my husband and I became ill with upper respiratory illnesses. About a couple of weeks later my very large trees started to look sick. Since then, we have had to remove 10 very large trees which succumb to blight and disease. I believe they became weakened by the substance. Don't builders have a responsibility to use potentially toxic materials in a way that does not affect water ways, trees and nearby residents?

Gehan Homes should be ashamed and do the right thing for their client. That neighborhood is beautiful and many new homes are still being built there so I wonder how many potential buyers will also have diseased trees on their property. That powder seems quite toxic and dangerous for your trees to become sick so quickly. I suggest that anyone considering buying a Gehan home should request for Gehan to provide 3 current tree health inspections before you sign any papers because you will not want to be left with no trees and the builder not claiming responsibility. It may be best for the lots to sit unsold until all the neighborhood houses are complete to ensure your lot does not get infected by that white substance as other houses are still being built or you are out of luck. I'm sorry you lost 10 trees...so sad!
