terrible company
Last year my vehicle was slightly damaged while parked unattended in a parking lot. I reported it to USAA and let them know I would not be filing a claim since it could be fixed inexpensively on my own. Later I found that USAA had reported in the CLUE and ISO databases that I filed a claim for being involved in an accident.
When contacting USAA for assistance, I received some abrupt treatment from several claims representatives, then ended up talking to two managers - one who failed to return a phone call as promised and another who was quite arrogant in his downright refusal to correct the inaccuracies. To date, USAA has been perfectly happy to leave this false information about my claims history in both public databases, and I am missing out on a safe driver discount at my current insurer as a result.
This was the final straw after several years of putting up with clueless representatives and gradually-rising premiums with no reason or explanation.
I have since closed ALL of my insurance, banking, and investment accounts with USAA and the rest of my extended family is in the process of doing the same. Don't trust this dishonest company.
lost poa!!!
My husband gets his orders...we do ALL the neccessary paperwork (tons), one of them being the POA for the banks...
I go to access the account and ALL OF OUR MONEY and I am told " we don't have your POA...but don't worry you can just put it in the mail and "the back office" will take care of it next week sometime" (!) Unfortunately it must have been misplaced.
HELLO...you misplace car keys not a POA.
Funny thought...if I had access to his account because they had the POA, I would close this account PDQ!
The bottom line...bank with a local credit union near you.

USAA has become a complete scamming to its member/owners. I had 25 years with them in paid premiums and they dropped me on my VALID first claim of stolen furniture on a move. They never intended to ever pay any claims! Drop them before they drop you! And self-insure yourself with your state department of insurance! Its much cheaper and honest!

failure to pay for damages
I was hit by __________ whom is insured by USAA on a Friday evening coming home from work when Miranda topped a hill on the wrong side of the road and collided with another car then hitting me. The accident was determined to be her fault by 3 witnesses and the police dept in Nolensville TN. My vehicle was deemed totalled by USAA and an offer was presented to me 17 days later. I did some research and found out that they were using after market parts on the estimate which made the savage value higher than what it sure have been if i decided to keep the truck. They also low balled my truck (provided evidents to them) and deducted 2000.00 because i have a rebuilt truck that the state of TN came out and inspected 10 years ago. During this time I was told the the rental truck that i had secured to get back and forth to work was denied coverage. I was left holding the bag for approx $16 because they told me that USAA is not obligated to provide me with a like vehicle even if i used it in my part time business (Gary's Paint and Body). In my procurement of an automobile/rental to get back and forth to work I had to take off a day ($20.50 X 8hrs = $164) in which i was not paid. I explained to the lady that I was a contractor and if i miss work i do not get paid. I rely on my 40 hr work week check to pay my bills like many Americans do. USAA offered to pay me 1/2 what i was due.Last I have the vehicle in storage and am paying insurance on this vehicle. According to the records I am due 21 days of storage and the check can be made out to Gary's Paint & Body Shop.
Last i did not ask for this lady to come over a curve on the wrong side of the road and put me in this spot. I change the oil in my truck as recommended by the mfg and the oil that i purchase which is the synthetic brand. This ladies carelessness has cost me considerable and now her insurance company is trying to get out of everything they can. first it was the rental, then the estimate using aftermarket parts, the day i missed work, and the low figure for my truck. Hopefully you can see a pattern here.
I faxed USAA a list of trucks within 150 miles as they suggested with similar if not identical options. The least expensive truck was 8990.00 - 2000.00 (branded title) = 6990.00 + tax ..etc. They are offering me approx 5900.00 for my truck 3000.00 less than what i can purchase a similar truck back. Along with the missed day of work, the storage fees, and the partial rental payment. Since i have been out of a vehicle for over a month i was forced to purchase a vehicle at a considerable cost. All i asked these people was to put me back were i was before i was ran over by there insured but they are uncooperative. 6990.00 + (21days * 10 = $210) + $16 for failure to pay rental on truck) + 1 work day ($164) = 7380.00 + any tax due..
USAA offered me 5962.00 at a loss of over 1400.00
alienation of products
A few years ago my husband was injured in the line of duty with the military. Of course, we faced financial difficulties. We fought it for several years, but finally had to file for bankruptcy over a year ago. We have been long standing members of USAA and with us filing for bankruptcy; USAA has shut us out of their website and refuses to offer any new products to us (insurance coverage). This is really unfortunate since USAA claims to be there for their service members and their family.
Sad Spouse,
Did you claim bankruptcy on an USAA loan or credit account? Unfortunately they may not want to do business with you if that is the case and will close your accounts down. Your lawyer should advise you of this.
I have been with USAA for over a decade and recently my wife (Honorably discharged vet) got into some trouble and had to do a few months in county jail, USAA said that because she went to jail (for a minor assault) they can no longer carry her on the policy. This is prejudicial and overly biased. They cited a moral clause, well how moral is it to condemn a veteran for making one mistake in life.
every aspect of usaa sucks
First of all, their post date sucks. One day i could have 200 and the next day after the arrange the transactoins i will some how have 180. Secondly, their insurance sucks!! I was paying almost $400.00 a month for insurance and then realized this is so stupid. So i filled out a quote on GEICO and saved about $200.00 for the same exact policy coverage. And...

This bank is out to screw anyone, especially veterans whom are on a fixed income. They charge $29.00 NSF fees for repeated attempts for a company whom you owe, but will not tell you whom you owe money. I've been trying to close this account since the first of this month and they keep adding their $29.00 NSF fees. This bank is very unfair to the little people like myself. This bank advertises that they want to help you. Believe me, they do by adding and adding fees when they know that there will be money coming in on the first of every month. If you are a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, think twice before opening up an account with this bank, especially if you are on a disability income. I would recommend going to Generations Federal Credit Union for your banking needs. They have privilege pay fees of $25 per transaction and you can go under a zero balance to a negative $500.00. USAA SAVINGS BANK is for people who have money to blow. You are suppose to be able to click on the check number and find out who is hitting your account, but when you do that, it reads that the information is unavailable and to check back later. Yes, when you pay all those fees, then you can click on the check number and find out who was hitting your account. YES, GENERATIONS FEDERAL CREDIT UNION, I"M BACK!
KANSASFLOWER...I was very angry when I submitted my complaint against USAA Federal Savings Bank. I feel that banks and credit unions should have more compassion towards its members especially now days when some people have tough times. No matter what financial institution, there will always be disgruntled members like myself who is still having it tough because of unemployment and chronic illness, and other factors. But, I would like to see the Co-Founders and the present EXECUTIVES of USAA Federal Savings Bank and GENERATIONS FEDERAL CREDIT UNION live in my shoes for just one day and see if they would like to live like I have to due to all of these companies and financial institutions who charge an arm, leg, and anything else, these fees, charges and unfair APRs all because of a stupid credit scoring system that they use just to belittle "little" people like myself and to make themselves look superior to everyone else. Amen? Amen! These financial institutions aren't all that bad, however...they need to look at their banking practices and procedures and do some revisions, and maybe even look into their own employees credit practices. Of course, when they are paid more than they are worth, that pisses me off every time I speak to any of them. They think that they are as superior as the Co-Founders and present Executives.
Usaa continues to display 'unavailable' on caller id even though it violates fcc rules. the words 'private', 'out of area', 'unavailable' are not allowed even if the company has an ebr (earlier business relationship). I answered their call several times, told them this, but I still get calls. I have filed several customer complaints to the fcc. the fcc should make usaa pay a fine and make them follow the law.
This is happening to us right now and because a few times our account has gone negative they have said "due to account history we cannot reverse the charges" BUT when I had $17, 000 in the bank before I opened my business they kissed my butt and did anything I asked. They used to be a great bank but not anymore!
I too am having the same caller ID violation from USAA. I submitted several complaints to the FCC but the calls still keep coming.
usaa mortgage company
USAA really sucks, My husband and I assumed a V.A mortgage 1 1/2 years ago from a gentleman and we have had nothing but headaches from USAA every since. We are in the process of getting a new loan and will be so happy to be finished with USAA for good. One thing that we never got straightened out was my husband and I are disabled and are exempt from taxes and were charged every month. Payment when we started our loan was 951 and they were charging taxes I called and talked to a dozen people and they said they would remove the taxes once we proved we were exempt. Sent all the paper work and they raised our payment to $983, I tried all last year to resolve with no resolve. I finally gave up and they ended up giving me a tax refund in Jan. Got to use my money all year. Now we are in middle of refinance and I called and tried 4 hours to get to someone to send me a copy of our note. Finally got in touch with a lady that said she could not fax a copy or email a copy. I asked if I could have them send it UPS as was needing it fast. Lady said I needed a UPS account, so I opened an UPS account and she said she would send it., that was 6 days ago and no note. They even gave me a tracking number but number is no good. Tried for 5 days to get in touch with somebody to try to get someone to help me but they just didn't care. I just know I wouldn't recommend Usaa to anyone.

I agree with you USAA is awful. USAA tries to tell everyone that they are a Federal Savings Bank that caters to military, former military and those who support the military. Up until recently I fully believed that this was the case. I have had USAA since I was about 16 years old, through my fathers service to our great country I was “fortunate” enough to be able to get USAA membership. Then once I joined the military I continued to use USAA. I am now out of the military, and contracting for the U.S. military in Afghanistan. I have been in Afghanistan now for 14months. I applied for a home loan through USAA and was approved immediately. I followed all of USAA’s mortgage services representative’s instructions (Sandra Tessitore). I had 45 days from the day the offer was submitted and all of my paper work was filed out, for Sandra to fill me in on any issues that might arise. Several times I emailed her with questions only to receive no reply for several days, or until I got sick of waiting for an email and called her directly. Seven days before I was supposed to close on my house Sandra notifies me that since I am a contractor, I need a letter from my company stating that they will keep me on contract for three years no matter what, and that my pay will stay the exact same ($145k a year). I asked her why it needed to remain 145K when the loan I am going for was only 220k borrowed…her answer that’s what the underwriter wants. No company can guarantee employment for three years and these conniving criminals know it. So due to USAA, and Sandra Tessitore, I am out $2, 000 dollars earnest money, the fees they charged to go through this entire process (with the extra points I bought around $600), probably around 20 hours of my times on the phone with them, oh yeah and did I forget to mention a house. USAA is not about helping military and former military get fair deals, they are all about making the quick buck and then dumping you in the trash like last weeks leftovers. If USAA would have told me these ridiculous “regulations” up front I could have had the time to go to a lender that can give loans to those who serve our country overseas and not the thieves at USAA. Once I am back in the states, able to go into reputable bank and insurance company, I will be getting rid of my USAA Performance First Savings Account, Normal Savings Account, Checking Account, Life Insurance, Home Insurance, Car Insurance, and Credit Card. USAA will not care about this because they have thousands of members who are unaware of their crooked practices. I just hope that this review will help fellow contracts know to go through another lender and not make the mistake I did by trusting USAA.

mortgage loan application
Hastily pre-approved for a mortgage without completely understanding my situation. Do not hear from them about a problem until less than 2 weeks before closing. Waste a week going back and forth with their inept mortgage processors trying to get them to understand my situation and correctly convey that information to their underwriter. Final straw was a...

I was working with USAA since October on a home loan. Charged the $50 pre-approval fee and got the green-light for the amount I requested: $110, 000 (The house I was looking at was $109, 000). Got the purchase contract, got a loan processor who, by the way, was very diligent on e-mail returns. Everything seemed to flow quite well. Hardly any demands made by the loan processor. Got the home inspection done to the tune of $325, money I would never see again but gave me a profound mental comfort that I was investing in something sound.
Some confusion arose between the purchase contract closing date and the one the USAA gave to me. The processor insisted that an adddendum be submitted to the date she indicated because she would need more time (the difference was a mere 9 days). By this time I had locked in my rate, costing another $300, paid to USAA. I was given another set of provisions to complete on Monday evening by phone from the loan processor, who indicated that things were "looking fine". We were set to close a week from that Wednesday.
The following Wednesday (The one before the Wednesday we were to close), nearly two months since I called and got "pre-approved" the loan processor emails me and says the loan went from "approved " to "not approved" farming the blame out on Fannie Mae because they "rolled out a new system". She also said it was based on my credit history.
Why in the hell did USAA approve the loan in the first place then? I got screwed over one weekend when NO change in credit score occured? And Fannie Mae/VA financing requires a minimum socre of 620 and my lowest of the three was 632! I spoke to another lender who ran my debt-to-income ratio and she stated "Someone is on crack" to have denied it if it was based on income. Then I mentioned that I had to submit a homeowners policy, which I had used USAA for that in order to close on time. USAA's online automated home-policy calculator estimated and committed the policy to the tune of $1, 400 annual! The new lender bellowed "WHAT?!?!" I said that internally when it was presented on the screen. That much for a 3-bedroom split-level home built in the 60's? The new person working up the figures thinks THAT is what pushed by debt-to-income over, but the onus for that should fall on USAA since it was their system that came up with the figures.
Lesson to walk away from: IF you go with USAA, make sure you have them get THEIR ducks i n a row first and don't be appeased with them merely saying "Everything looks good." only to get the Dutch-door action a week before closing. I wouldn't be out my inspection money if the loan processor had kept with the paces she alleged she was making. The fact that I got in writing what she claims as to the how/who denied my loan conflicting with the denial letter info serves as the reason why I won't be seeking any assistance from them or their affiliates.
These ### did the same thing to me AND charged me an additional $5, 000 to get the loan completed. I like some things about USAA but their mortgage division is the WORST. I had one debt of 50K and a net worth of over 1M with an annual income of 150K. NEVER go with USAA mortgage, they just rip you off !
fraud
I have obvious fraud on my account (2 identical charges made at a gas station in California and I live in TX) and no one from USAA called me to let me know there was "unusual" activity. Two back to back idential charges IS suspicious. I called your fraud unit this morning, Dec 24, 2011 at 8:15 am and was essentially told that it was my fault for USING MY ATM CARD IN TX and "how do we know you didn't go to CA and make the charges yourself"? The entire time I was blamed, never any accountability or empathy whatsoever from either representative I spoke to yet they wanted to Fed Ex the replacement card to my apartment so it could sit outside my door during the day while I was at work so my replacement cards could be STOLEN again. WOW! Nice security measures! I had to tell 2 people I did NOT want that option, this deactivating of MY debit card had BETTER NOT deactivate my son's teen checking account and for them not to reverse those 2 charges until the "investigation" is done so my account does not show a negative balance is so completely rude and UNPROFESSIONAL.

Watch out Military members choosing USAA Credit Cards: My latest tangle with USAA Credit Card Services was with Andrea in "Executive Resolutions". I called on Tuesday June 14, 2011 to find out why my available credit did not reflect a recent $319.00 payment made on June 8, 2011 which cleared my local checking account on June 9, 2011. I thought there was an error--but I was informed that my payment would not be credited to my Credit Card until Midnight June 16, 2011 after she toyed around with the release of funds date, I assume.
I was told that this practice of holding onto your payments for at least 7 days or more could and does happen to just about everyone. Isn't that bank fraud? It seems that in my case USAA used my $319 for whatever purposes they chose (maybe an executive lunch?).
Today, my available credit is what it should have been 7 days ago. So watch out! USAA is using payments to their own advantage instead of doing the ethical thing of crediting your account when the money is received. By the way, no notice of this policy came my way and if you multiply my transaction by thousands of customers, what the heck kind of bank is that.
Even though their ads seem friendly, their financial people seem to be less than honest in favor of the bottom line. Thanks for the bailout and riding on the backs of our military both veterans and active duty. Just another injustice to the "common" people
claim
I had no problem with usaa till today I try and figure out with my claim and why no one has called me, then I have debra brown of usaa, get on the phone as rude as can be. Yes I may be a little mad already cause I thought I should have already called me, to let me know whats up. So I give her a policy number and explain to her tht i've been waiting on a call and why ask why I have not been contacted. We move passed it. She tells me that the adjuster should have giving me a copy, I say well the guy that came out used his I phone to take pictures, and looked like his mom was driving him. He told me that yall would get me a copy. Well she tells me she can fax it I say no cause I dont have a fax, welll I can fax it to the body shop, I tell her that I cant take it in now, its thanksgiving, well mrs customer I know when thanksgiving is. So I satrt think my allstate agent prolly will not mind so I pulled out his card to get the number, I said well can I fax it to my allstate agent. Debra then says o now you have a fax, what happened you jjust told me no no" so I ask if I can give her the number. Debra well no wait till i'm ready.
When I ask for her name again she wont tell me, when I ask to speak to a manager or someone in chargeshe tells me no. The worst part about it was she made me so mad I called her a # and hung up. Debra made me so mad I couldnt even keep my cool. You can ask any of my friends its hard to make me mad. I had to call back of course by this point I was in tears, when I was talking to the next lady.
dishonest policy
Claim #[protected]
8-15-11: Accident happened (date of loss)
9-1-11: USAA made arrangements for me to pick up an Enterprise rental car after I dropped off my personal vehicle for repairs at a body shop.
9-12-11: Repairs finished on my personal vehicle, Rental car returned to Enterprise.
9-13-11: Enterprise calls to collect out-of-pocket fees for 4 extra days of rental not covered by USAA.
USAA refuses to pay for the first 4 days of rental because they have a "No Thursday drop-off" policy that does not allow customers to rent a car from Thursday-Sunday. However, USAA made the arrangements for me to pick up the rental car on Thursday 9-1-11. The representative knew the only reason for doing this on a Thursday was because it was the next day I had off work. USAA documented that I was made aware of their policy, but I never heard about the "No Thursday drop-off" policy until 9-13-11 when Enterprise called demanding out-of-pocket payment for days not covered by USAA because the rental began on a Thursday.
When the USAA claims adjuster issued an estimate for my vehicle repairs, they estimated 7 days. The repairs were not done for 11 days. The repairs started on the same day I dropped off the car, Thursday. The first few times I called USAA regarding this issue, they said that if the body shop submitted some paperwork requesting a supplement, the extra days should be covered and my problem should be resolved. I called the body shop and they complied with my request to file for a supplement. According to my insurance company (Shelter), the body shop was paid for the extra days, but Enterprise was not. I paid the balance, $125.54 because Enterprise was going to report it to the credit bureaus and I'm currently in the market for a house. I cannot afford any blemishes on my credit.
I had an extremely difficult time in getting any answers to my questions. I often had to have a representative "put a note on the account" for a manager to call me the next day and very rarely would I actually receive a call.
9-30-11: I spoke with a manager by the name of Debbie Paull. She finally told me that the reason USAA would not cover the days was because I dropped off my vehicle at the body shop and picked up the rental car at Enterprise on a Thursday and according to their documentation, I was made aware of the "No Thursday drop-off" policy.
My sentiment about the whole situation is this: My car was damaged through no fault of my own. I made a claim against the other party's insurance and the repairs took longer than expected, also through no fault of my own. I feel that USAA should not even arrange for a Thursday pickup of a rental car if they have a policy against paying for it. The body shop was compensated for the extra days it took to repair my car, but not Enterprise. I feel that USAA should cover the $125.54 that I paid out of pocket.

misleading tactics and information
Veterans need to stay far away from this company at all cost. They promise you the world at a low cost, but it eventually cost you an arm and a leg. They set you up with a loan processor who returns your calls at their leasure and never gives you the information you request, i.e., final closing costs, it's always "We are still processing this information"...
Read full review of USAA and 2 commentsusaa does nothing for service members
I have been banking with Bank Of America for about 10 years now, I had some problems with them, but who hasn't? Anyway, I was talking with an old friend of mine from the Army who told me to switch to USAA, as they had great customer service and great products. After checking out their website and doing my own research, I decided to open a checking, savings and apply for the AMEX credit card that they offer. Everything was immediately approved, even the AMEX which they gave me a credit line of 16, 200. I thought this was great. Upon opening the 2 bank accounts, you have to set up a way for opening deposits. I chose a transfer from my BofA checking account. Just a small amount, $200.
The day after opening the accounts, I received a phone call from USAA, they wanted to ask me questions to verify my identity, not a problem. After answering the questions the rep told me that I was fine, and thanked me for speaking with him. 2 days later after seeing that USAA had deducted the opening deposit out of my BofA account, I went to log into my USAA account to see if they had processed the opening deposit, I was met with this error message: " You access to the website has been restricted due to security reasons, please call (2:71). So i called up USAA and the phone rep was very friendly, and told me that she saw no notes on my account as to why there would be a lock on the accounts. She went ahead and unlocked my password and I was able to log in. I saw that my opening deposit had cleared, and was listed as available.
The next day I figured I would go into my local BofA branch and close the accounts I had with them. After doing so, and now with a bank check for most of the remaining funds, I went home and logged onto USAA's website to get their mailing address, so I could mail the bank check for deposit. Again I was greeted with the same error message as they previous day. This time when I called in, the customer service rep had a whole new attitude towards me, she was rude and impatient. Her explanation was "as per the deposit agreement, we have decided to close your account". That told me absolutely nothing. What about the agreement, and her answer was "As per the agreement, we can decide to close your account at any time at our discretion". Finally I asked her to transfer me to anyone who may have some information as to why the accounts were closed. I am not sure what department I was sent to, but I got the same run around. As she was going though the notes on her system she even said "I see that we called to verify identity and you were cleared through that, so the only reason I have to give you is that you should check the deposit agreement". I then asked about my $200 opening deposit, and was told that the account would be fully closed in 14 days and then it takes about 7-10 business days from then to send the check. So pretty much 3 weeks before I get the $200 back.
I have been trying to see if there was anything I can do, and it seems that I am at their mercy and I have no choice to wait. I just can't figure out what went wrong in this case. I pulled my credit reports I contacted chexsystems(waiting for that report), I can't imagine why they would even decide to resort to the depositers agreement in order to close the account.

Strange, not what I would expect after nearly four decades w USAA.
minor auto accident
I had a minor car accident on June 2, 2011 when a Chevy Suburban old model rear ended my 09 Toyota Rav 4. I found the decision to be unfair. We both have USAA insurance and the decision was that we were both at no fault. My argument is that why do I have to pay the $250 deductible if I AM AT NO FAULT? This is the most bizarre decision that I have ever encountered with USAA. And what is really upsetting is that it took this insurance giant over a month to make this decision. The driver of this suburban who rear ended me that resulted a minor damage on the back of my vehicle is at no fault and will not pay a cent.
I
That is the next step I will do. Thanks.
I still dont get it. That freaking guy was an inch away from my bumper. How could that be my fault.? Now he got away from it.
And not mention that when I called USAA and asked the customer service if she wants me to call the police, she replied by saying I don't need to. Can you imagine how it feels to be a "double jeopardy " victim.? USAA, the company that I was very proud of to be a member, the company that I proudly recommend to my relatives and friends who are in the service/retirees betrayed me. My suv is just over two years old whereas the chevy suburban is in the 90's. I was at no fault but WHY DO I NEED TO PAY THE DEDUCTIBLE? WHY?
Be advised that the decision was that BOTH of us are at no fault. It happened in Spokane Street with a yield sign and I was on complete stop when this guy too close to me hit the back of my suv. We both have USAA. When I mentioned about calling the police, this guy said to me that we dont need to since it is a no injury accident and I was persuaded. This guy even suggested not to call the insurance company and settle it among ourselves and I said okay. When he found out it will cost him $500, he refused to pay and this amount is what the Toyota dealer is charging and this provoked me to call USAA.
If you both are not at fault, it is actually an at fault accident for both of you. Therefore, you both would have to file under collision to get your respective cars fixed. Look at it this way, if one party doesn't pay 51% or more both are at fault. The police report doesn't determine who is at fault. It is up to the adjuster.
Wow. Where I live, if you are rear-ended it is the fault of the other driver automatically

I have been a member since 1998 with USAA, I'm AD and a carrier counsoler, We feel upon hard times, and filed bankrupsey in 2009, After it was confirmed by the courts USAA blocked all my accounts and I was only able to use Mobile phone accesse, Being far from any branch we lost check deposit by scan, and now they said I would have to mail my money for a depoit, well thats not going to happen, if its lost i will never be able to get another check from the person I sold something too. Eitherway we have been dealing with it, I'm unhappy but I also see thier side, I just wished that they would look at me as their customer and my history with them, which was a #1. By the way I kept my loans outside of the Bankrupsey with USAA, we were alsways in good standing with them and like others praised them for above and beyound service.
Heres where it's gets interesting, I have been a loyal customer with USAA, being an AD Army Soldier, and a Counselor, I'm honest too Honest come to find out. My son decided to do his own thing after Graduating High School, well needless to say he realy went off the deep end got in with the wrong crowed and got into a lot of trouble. So while he was not liveing at our House and following our rulse I removed him from our Auto Insureance, that took and act of congress darn near, I had to fill out a statement saying he was not living at home and say that he would never drive one of our vehicles again. I was not happy but agreed, they still would not take him off my insurence so I told them he has been getting into trouble with the law and I do not want him on my insurance, they asked what kind of trouble and I told them, Burgerly of a Building (took Candy), Burgerly of a habitation (took achole out of weekend home), and stole a truck. These actions were completly wrong and he was caught. His punishment is 10yrs deferred Jail time, with 5yrs probation and almost 20, 000.00 in fines and 800 hrs of comunity Service. I thought it was steep but funny at the same time since I was an MP for the first 12 yrs in the Army and he knew how I felt about all that.
He did not do any damage to anthing and no claim resulting from his actions to any Insurence Companies. After over 10 yrs with USAA they told me they were going to drop my home owners insurance due to his felonies. They said it was morial tupitude, and that as long as MY SON LIVED WITH ME I WAS NOT GOING TO BE INSURED UNDER USAA. I ask them so if I kick my son out who is now back on tract lives at home has a job and paying for his mistakes. That they would not drop me. We went round and round about it I took it all the way to the top and still I was being dropped, remind you no claim on any insurence mine or for the people places he broke into.
USAA says because I was truthful about my son thats why im being droped, that they consider it moreal turpitude, Now if he would have commited these crimes before the age of 18 it's ok. I also brought it to their attention the following;
1. USAA still insures DWI drivers.
2. USAA still allows people who write checks that bounce (In Texas anything over a $1, 000.00 is a felony) to be insured.
You will love this part; because the customer does not bring it to their attention for the checks it's ok. Remember USAA is aware of who bounces checks and they consider that none morel turpitude, and DWI well it's ok, it's not moral turpitude.
I told them that thier are people who are insured with USAA that has had a feloney and they know about it (DWI and Hot checks) and its OK, but if you follow the Military Code of eithics and be up front and honest they will drop all you Insurances.
I just want USAA members to understand that if one of your Family members has a feloney and something happens where you need to use your insurance beaware that they will more than likely not pay. You will be dropped. So USAA is not such a mirrow of the Military as they state in their comercials on tv NOR DO THEY HAVE OUR SOLDIERS INTERESTS AT HEART, Mind you it was not me the AD member it was my son and as long as my son will try to do the right thing, I will give him that chance to be a productive member of society. He is paying for his mistakes a think very harsh but at the same time funney because I'm also an MP at Heart, I make fun and remind him for 2 months of complete fredom he will be paying for the next five yrs if he's good if not hill do ten years for 2 months of fum.
But USAA who I have recomended to Hundreds of soldiers yes hundreds I made a mistake because I thought USAA was a Military bank for the Soldiers, its not like I THE AD SOLDIER DID IT, IT WAS MY SON, AND I WILL NOT KICK/PUT MY SON OUT ON HIS xxx WHEN HE IS TRYING TO MAKE UP AND CORRECT THE THINGS HE DID WRONG AND HE IS PAYING FOR HIS MISTAKES, I fulley agree with the Courts, even though I think it was a little stiff, Hey He knew better. USAA well Inever thought that they could or would do that to anyone.
Last but not least You will not find anywhere in the USAA contracts creditcards, auto insurance or home owners policy, that if you have a felone live with you they will not cover you, it's how'ed they put it, IT's AN INTERNAL DECISION. I'M GLAD THERE NOT ON THE FIGHTING LINES COVERING MY BACK, ANYMORE !

Lastly, I just wanted to add that what does this say about our men and women in uniform who come back from deployment with untreated mental illness? Soldiers don't just wake up in the morning and decide to [censored], the decision comes after an accumulation of isolation, shame, hopelessness, and loss of control. In fact, that last final act for many is their last attempt to control mental illness. Are the people at USAA simply going to turn their back on the many men and women in uniform who have been incarcerated as a result of untreated mental illness from combat? One can argue that its a persons decision that gets them incarcerated but I can say this, I have never had a problem with the law in my entire life and held a secret clearance as a 2nd Lieutenant. It wasn't until after I came back from two tours that I got DUI's and incarcerated. Im not proud of it, but the relationship is quite clear. Is shaming a soldier by restricting their bank account access when they've proved for the past year they can manage it in any way a smart way to help a soldier? Because the truth is, I may not [censored] because im no longer good enough to have access to my account online with USAA, but it sure does add up to the many reasons why I would consider it.
I have been banking with USAA since 2001 through basic training, AIT, Jump School, and two deployments. After coming back from combat in 2004, I started to have symptoms of what I now know to be PTSD. I struggled with these symptoms while continuing to perform in the National Guard and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in 2007. I thought like many other Veterans coming home from combat that I would be just fine, and so continued with my training despite my internal struggles. In 2009, after nearly five years of increasing isolation and deterioration in my mental health I was incarcerated for two years. I was released in March of 2012 and from then up until the present date I continued to bank with USAA and rebuild my life with the help of the VA. I contacted USAA a week ago (March 18th 2013) and asked them for an auto insurance quote. I was told that they would look into it and contact me in a few days. Today, exactly one week later, I was told that USAA will not provide auto insurance to me 'due to prior incarceration.' Also, USAA has restricted access to my online banking account which I have been using to pay my bills for the past year. Since I am no longer authorized online access to my online banking account, I must call USAA each time I would like to check my balance, pay a bill, or transfer funds. Their reasoning behind this is that I could potentially start my own insurance policy online by logging in to my account. Ladies and Gentlemen, if I wanted to fraudulently open an auto insurance claim online, I certainly wouldn't begin by calling USAA to ask them for an auto insurance quote. Furthermore, for the past year I have demonstrated my banking trustworthiness by having a positive balance and paying my bills on time. I do not see how restricting access to my on line banking account is in any way related to obtaining an auto insurance quote. The USAA auto insurance department has placed a code on my banking account status restricting my on line access indefinitely because I was honest enough to tell them about my journey as a Veteran in recovery from PTSD in combat.
bad faith
On July 3rd, 2009, I filed a complaint about USAA home owners insurance. I have not been on line to comment or to answer any questions that others have posted for me. To formerinsurancedjuster: I can only tell you of my experience. My home had been inspected by different insurance adjusters from USAA. The last adjustor after previous adjustors (who never told me) was the one who told me about the roof after there had been several storms and tornados over the years I lived there. To why the other adjustors did not tell me, is a question to them. However, when I talked to Teresa Raymond, Public Relations [protected], I'm not sure that's the same number for her), she was the one after the last adjustor and only adjustor, told me about the roof and she said that that information was internal documentation and that it "was privy" to USAA only and that they do not tell home owners how to maintain their home, they just tell them what they will and will not pay for. When she told me that the roof had been the source of the leaks and they had known that since the first adjustor came to our home over a year and a half ago when this started, it became quite apparent that what the other adjustors told me and what they filed with USAA was two different things. I was out raged. I asked her how can they not tell me what they found the first time around so repairs could have been made. However, they said nothing but to get over it and to move on with my life. None of the insurance adjustors as I recall gave me any paperwork, all information was verbal. As with the representatives, all instructions were verbal. There is a debate to rather the roof was as old as they claimed, I have had several different roofing companies at that time come to the house and they all said that the roof was not as old as USSA said it was (35 years old), and materials that was on my was not 35 years old and no roof would last that long. You see in Georgia, up until recently, roofers did not have to file for a permit with the city to repair your roof, and if it is not filed with the city then it appears that no work has ever been done according to their records. My home had been completely remolded and done by licensed contractors and approved by VA before we could even buy the home.
As to the origins of this horrific ordeal, I had said previously that we had had many bad storms and tornados in my area, which will cause damage and then some. They were never up front and wanted to save money at my family's expense. So, I am suing.
It is about the principle and because my spouse is still military, we have relocated. USAA attorney's scheduled a deposition for me in November 2010. After I spent money on tickets and was in Georgia, the USAA attorneys canceled. While there, because my immune system had been so affected by the mold, I caught a serious cold and became very ill after being in Georgia for only three days. My respiratory system started to shut down on me. I flew back home very ill and had to go to the hospital and was admitted immediately because I could not breathe. I am on two different inhalers, one with steroids, and have to take medications and precautions everyday due to the deterioration of my health. A simple cold will affect my breathing and left unattended my respitory problem becomes unreal. My breathing becomes shallow, my chest tightens up, I can't get enough air into my lungs, and I gasp for air to talk. My doctors just told me that my respitory problem is not under control and different actions have to be taken such as a nebulizer to expand my lungs when I'm not getting enough air. Going outside for six hours leaves me with a mild cold and then I have to stay in the house and nurse myself back to health. My husband when I'm sick stays up at nights to ensure I'm breathing, then he has to go to work and put in 15 or more hours at work as a SGM, and I know that he is tired and I worry about him. Who would have thought that mold can change your life and family's life forever. Each year I get older, the weaker my immune system becomes. My son who is young has had to be rushed to the hospital via ambulance for unknown origin of fever. So please provide me with some information to why they would not give me a report, why they would not inform me when they got the initial report in which they said was the roof, and why they kept telling me different things was the cause of why the house was flooding? We dumped a great deal of our own money chasing different adjustors’ ideas with what was wrong with the house. From air conditioning, to buying equipment they suggested, to plumbers, and replacing piping because it was thought it would help. So please give me some insight. Because I just don't understand why USAA did what they did or why? I did report them at the time to the insurance commissioner's office. However, they are pro insurance and the consumer's voice is never heard unless you scream at the top of your lungs, which I find very difficult to do due to shortness of breath. They never got back to me since I filed.
SO I SAY TO YOU ALL WHO HAVE DEALT WITH USAA OR DIFFERENT INSURANCE COMPANIES AND HAVE HAD SERIOUS SITUATIONS SUCH AS MINE DON'T END UP LIKE ME. FORCE THE ISSUE; GET IT IN WRITING, TAKE DOWN NAMES, PHONE NUMBERS, AND DATES AND TIMES CONVERSATIONS TAKE PLACE. THEY ARE LIKE ANY OTHER BUSINESS; THEIR PRESENCE HERE IS TO MAKE MONEY AND PROFIT, NO MATTER THE CONSEQUENCES. I'M NOT SAYING THAT ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE BAD, BECAUSE EVERY COMPANY HAS THEIR COMPLAINTS. ALSO, HAD I NOT DOCUMENTED, GOT NAMES AND NUMBERS AND CONVERSATIONS DOWN, I WOULD NOT HAVE ANYTHING FOR MY ATTORNEYS TO FILE SUIT. BE CAREFUL; PROTECT YOUR FAMILY, YOUR HEALTH, AND YOUR ASSETS, ESPECIALLY YOUR CHILDREN; BECAUSE WE STILL DO NOT KNOW ALL THE LONG TERM SIDE AFFECTS THAT MY SON WILL CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE THROUGHOUT HIS LIFE BECAUSE WE LIVED WITH MOLD INFESTING OUR HOME SO LONG. HE'S WHAT IS IMPORTANT, THE DAMAGE TO MY RESPITORY SYSTEM IS UNDESPUTED; MY CONCERN IS MY SON AND THE ACCOUNTABILITY THAT USAA HAS TO HIM IN THE FUTURE, HENCE THE LAWSUIT. I ALREADY KNOW MY HEALTH IS HORRIB LE AND POSSIBLE THAT LIFE SPAN HAS BEEN CUT SHORT AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT I CAN DO ABOUT IT, I'VE ACCEPTED IT AND NOW HAVE TO ENSURE MY SON IS TAKEN CARE OF. JUST LIKE THAT, USAA CHANGED MY LIFE BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WANT TO PAY A CLAIM AND BE HONEST. HAD I NOT BEEN SO TRUSTING AND BELIEVED THAT USAA HAD ME AND MY FAMILY'S BE INTEREST AT HEART, AND FOLLOWED ALL THEIR INSTRUCTIONS EACH TIME WITHOUT QUESTIONS, I WOULD BE HEALTHY, NO EMERGENCY ROOM VISITS, CONSULTATIONS WITH DOCTORS OVER MY BREATHING PROBLEMS AND MY SON WOULDN'T HAVE SIDE EFFECTS. LET ME BE THE CAUTIONARY TALE TO QUESTION, ALWAYS QUESTIONS!
I SEE MY ATTORNEYS IN TWO WEEKS, AND I'M NOT LOOKING FORWARDS TO FLYING, OR EXPOSING MYSELF TO A DIFFENT CLIMATE CHANGE THAT CAN MAKE ME ILL, IT'S A RISK TO MY HEALTH, BUT IF I DON'T GO AND FACE USAA, THEY WIN AND THEY HAVE NO ACCOUNTABILITY AND THEY GET TO DO THIS AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO, I'M GOING TO RISK MY HEALTH AND PRAY I DON'T HAVE SEVERE RESPITORY PROBLEMS WHILE AWAY OR UP IN THE AIR ON A PLANE WHERE I CAN’T GET ANY HELP. BUT WHILE I'M THERE, IF ANYONE WANTS ME TO GIVE THEIR NAME AND INFORMATION TO MY ATTORNEYS AND IF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS POSSIBLE, I WILL GIVE THEM TTHE INFORMATION AND IF THEY HAVE ENOUGH PEOPLE, THEY MAY CONSIDER DOING IT, I DON'T KNOW, BUT ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. I CAN'T GUARENTEE IT, BUT NONE OF US HAVE ANYTHING TO LOSE. THERE IS MORE STRENGTH IN NUMBERS THAN STANDING ALONE. YOU MAY CONTACT ME AT [protected]@aol.com. reference USAA Class Action, Name, Phone Number or email, Situation, and I will pass it on to them to see if they want it or if they can do it. Signing off AND GOOD LUCK EVERYONE, AND AGAIN, BE CAREFUL. THERE ARE PREDITORS OUT THERE. KIM.

auto deductible
I have contacted USAA about a $1, 000.00 deductible that they are claiming I owe. I paid it, I have file several disputes, and they still won’t give me my money back. The USAA representative lie to me, they missed inform me and they are holding me liable for lies their own employees told me.
Another agent opened two claims for me, when it should have been only one, also, he said I was only going to be charge for one claim after he opened two, he said it was going to be only $500.00 that was a lie too. Now they are charging me $1, 000.00. I have talked to many supervisors and managers and they all escalate my case. Which are lies too, because they don’t even review my case, they just assume. They don’t care about the misrepresentation and the lies their employees told me, they just want me to pay for their mistakes.
I asked them to review the conversations I have had with their emplo9yees, but guess what? Now they tell me that those conversations were never recorded ((conveniently for them). I am sick of their lies. I am not responsible for $1, 000.00 deductible, my deductible should be $50.00.
auto insurance/money management.
Ok, this is what happened. I been banking with USAA for almost 3 years. Last november I just bought a car and chose USAA as my auto insurance. The insurance lasted 6 months. It expired May 5th, 2011. On May 7th I went with State Farm insurance. May 13th I realized USAA insurance had auto-renewal, but I already joined State Farm. USAA insurance took out...

My complaint is in regards to an accident that transpired on 11 Aug 06 under USAA Policy # 1541-35-53. The representative we spoke with after the accident stated that my wife was at fault due to the fact that she still had use of her brakes even though the brake usage had been diminished because of the previous accident that was not completely. The justification was that she may not have had 100% of the use but still had functional use of the vehicle. This did not bother us at the time because USAA did not raise our rates.
After switching from USAA to Progressive we were informed that the “at fault" accident on 11 Aug 06 would cause us to pay an increased rate. Upon hearing this accident was affecting our premium on the 16 Feb 09 I contacted USAA with the assistance of Progressive via a three way call. The USAA representative informed that the original rep would have to handle contesting their decision. Later that day, the claim rep's manager called me to inform that the fault of the accident was not the brakes because the repair shop inspected them before releasing our vehicle and couldn't find anything wrong. I informed the manager that my wife and I took our SUV to the dealership where the maintenance manager test drove the car with us and stated there most certainly was an issue with the brakes. Koon's Toyota replaced the Master Cylinder and the brake issue was resolved.
The USAA manager then stated that the two instances were not related because of the inspection done by the repair shop and the assessment completed by the insurance adjuster. I informed that the failure of their people to identify a problem doesn't automatically make the issue my wife's fault.
The USAA manager questioned why we waited so long because the incident was now outside their statute of limitations which was two (2) years. I informed that our rates had never increased for this accident until we switched insurance agencies. At this point the manager challenged the fact that our rates never went up…which they didn't.
The USAA manager started to repeat her argument that the vehicle had been inspected and the original assessment would stand and that USAA could not and would not reverse a decision made over two years ago. I pointed out how USAA had told us that we were originally at fault because we had some use of the brakes when the accident happened even though it was associated the previous incident, then when we called back we were informed that the accident was unrelated to the previous incident with a convoluted explanation that is only valid if the master ABS cylinder went out within two days of our car was released to us.
Upon hearing this the USAA manager said she wasn't going to reverse the decision period. I then informed I would be submitting this complaint and ended our conversation.
USAA mislead regarding the reasoning of a claim which didn't surface until we switched insurance companies and is costing over $500 a year difference in premium.
I was only seeking a letter stating the accident was not at fault meaning my wife wouldn't be held accountable with an increased premium due to the automobile not being repaired correctly. But were instead mislead and then accused to cover the fact that they can no longer make the change. Progressive stated they could make the change up to 35 months back and that every company is different. Do yourself a favor, choose progressive or another insurance company over USAA.
First, back in 2010 when my husband was deployed, I received no less than 5 phone calls in the same day from USAA. Each time I was told that my husband would have to have a physical for the extra life insurance policy he took out. When I informed them that that would be impossible since he was deployed, they would yell and get rude with me. It was a very stressful time for me and I didn't not need or ask for that kind of harassment.
Now, fast forward to this summer and I've been trying to slowly pay off my credit card. Times have been a bit rough since I have been out of work for a year. When I called to try and work out some payment plan with them, I was transferred from representative to representative and each time getting nothing but judgment and rude comments. And now today, I get another call from them, wondering why I'm having a hard time making payments and more harassment. I will be dropping them like a hot potato!
I agree with you USAA is an awful company.

This is the most ridiculous complaint I have ever heard. How does your supposed not having use of breaks cause this wreck. They just happened to not work at that time yet they were before? And did you or did you not hit the other car? Thats your fault. IF the breaks were supposedly bad, its the repair companies fault not USAA's. You signed off on the repairs did you not...
You dont state the year of teh vehicle or anything. The Brake ABS master cylinder was not damaged because of the last accident. You just dont understand and are mad because you have to pay for a wreck that you caused. You hit someone. DOnt slander a good company because of your ignorance. Are they perfect? Hell no, of course not. Show me a company that is. Do they and other companies make mistakes? Duh!
If your gonna write some complaint at least have the decency to put in all the facts for those people that read this stuff w/o any common sense. Your version of the accident completely shows that you were at fault.
Unless you pulled out of the repair shop and hit the first car you tried to stop for, it was your fault. You had a wreck. A company paid out on it yet they gave you a break and didnt charge you for it. Now you left and went elsewhere because of your ignorant anger and, shocking, you have to pay the other company. If I ran that company I'd say good ridance.
I signed up with Talent Hunter.com BEFORE I did my research. I paid $149.99 so I could sign my daugther up for 6 months. I thought I was getting a good deal becuase I recieved an email from an "agent" saying that they would be interested in my daughter for a commerical that was being shot in my area (my daughter's pic wasnt even posted at the time, should had be alert number 1). I complained to Paypal and my bank that this company was a fraud.
Too make a long story short, these people WILL NOT respond to any of your requests about cancellations and refunds because they dont have too! My bank (USAA) will not dispute Paypal, told me that they were untouchable. I disputed with Paypal and my claim was denied. I complained with the Better Business Buearu, still pending but Im sure that my money is gone.
People do your research please. I feel so stupid becuase I cant even get my daughters pics to even load up on their website. SO I got screwed with no protection at all! MAN!
