my daughter took her 180+ lb dog in for an ultrasound to see if they could see a tumor she was told showed up on an xray when she took him to the emergency vet for a fall. She informed them multiple times that her dog would need her there to calm him but they said she couldn't stay and he bit one of the techs. Luckily it was not a bad bit and did not break the skin. However, they never informed her until after the fact that an ultrasound rarely works on dogs over 60 lbs. I cannot understand why they even wanted to do an ultrasound if this were the case and they did not tell her that until after and she was charged for it. Now they are telling her surgery would be best but the dog is already over 7 years old and the life span of his breed, which is Great Dane/ Mastiff mix is not much over that anyway. They have not disccused this with her at all and I feel they are not making the right decision to tell her that, espcially given the fact that she cannot really afford to have the surgery done and the sugery itself would be hard on him, given he is already considered a "senior" dog for his breed. I am disgusted at how they have handled this and something should be done about it. I would never recommend them to anyone and will do my best to spread the word about how they handled this.
Claimed loss: My daughter was charged over $300.00 just for the ultrasound is being told the suregery would be bewtween 3 and 4 thousand dollars. They are taking advantage of her and it's wrong!!
Desired outcome: She should not be charged for a service that they knew would not work on a dog his size
