Not the best place for professional photographers
I am a professional photographer and I use many sites to share my work. Viewbug is a huge disappointment and I really do not recommend this service. In the past it was a great service and photographers from all over the world used it. But now this place looks more like a garbage can! Viewbug is full of stupid selfies, pictures that make no sense. People just post everything they want and Viewbug does not really care about that. Many young photographers used Viewbug in the past and posted their pictures and asked some advice from the professionals. It was a nice place, but not anymore.
You will never win anything!
I joined this site several months ago. I submitted to numerous contests, but never got to the final stage. That was until I paid for the VIP membership. After that I've started getting emails stating my pictures were ranked. After I signed up for a membership couple of my photos got the top 10 number of votes, but I never got to the final. I contacted them asking for explanations. I could not understand why am I getting the highest points, but at the end I never get to the final stage. But there was no answer. I also noticed that one photographer won all the prizes in all latest contests. His pictures were not that good and they were pretty much similar. They are scammers! No matter how much you pay, no matter how many pictures you send, you will never win anything! Just don't waste your money and time.
I couldn't log in and no idea how to solve this problem
I decided to take part in the contest, which provided the website www.viewbug.com. I uploaded my pics and waited 2 months and finally I received the email from them, where the rep informed me that I won the prize. After that he told me to follow the link and provide my personal info. Here all problems started, ‘coz I tried to return to the main website, but I couldn’t log in. I tried to get help from the rep, but no one replied. I wonder if there are other people, who had the same experience. Can you provide any good piece of advice?
They deleted my account
I signed up for the website www.viewbug.com 6 months ago, and finally I decided to quit it. This website offered photos contests and I won once, but after that I couldn’t log in into my account. The website showed that such users didn’t exist. I tried to get help from the moderators, but no one replied to my emails and messages. Total scam and I think that they blocked me on purpose. So don’t register there and post comments about your experience with this company.
all my stuff just disappeared... wtf... allways wanted me to upgrade... now there is nothing there?whats going on?
Viewbug has no concern for it's members
Viewbug has no concern for it's members. When the site was free, it was much better because there was no limit on anything. I created 140 groups. Now each member is limited to 3 groups. Contest prizes used to be as much as $500. Now you received t-shirts and worthless stuff instead. On rare occasion there may be a prize of 50 or 100 dollars. There are at least 250, 000 entries. Most winning photos are horrible, the results of unskilled photographers, and/or just downright nothing.
For those of you that are new to the site, and think it's so good, just give it time. Many of my friends thought it was great at first. Now they are on other sites that are at least honest and don't draw winning contest photos out of an electronic hat. Seriously, anyone would know 300, 000 photos are not going to all be looked at.
As a general rule I'm very positive, and am a happy person. However, it has been a nightmare the way Viewbug has ignored problems and ignored members. About 100 of my friends are more than disenchanted with the site. Most of them have awesome photos yet never win contests or have a photo featured. I'm doing this for them. Many have had to block other members that harassed them. They can at least feel some consolation that a friend is telling the truth about Viewbug.
A free site that focuses on selling your photos is RedBubble. If you hope to sell your photos on Viewbug, it is unlikely it will happen. Out of 300 Viewbug friends, 2 have sold one photo each. Viewbug focuses on getting the $60 membership. Everything else is secondary.
I don’t find much wrong with viewbug. It is 2019 now, but I’ve been with them a couple of years and find no fault with their structure. If one reads their About Page, they may find that Viewbug’s mission statement is to connect artists in order to hone their craft. It seems most are angry they aren’t selling their photos to other photographers. That’s just silly to sign up to a network of photographers and expect direct sales from that platform. Today they allow you to build a wonky website with sales tools. It is unlikely that will generate sales on its own, as it is a platform of photographers. To gain sales you must employ strategies to drive people to your website. ViewBug simply isn’t responsible for your failure at being a salesman, but today it offers many tools to become better at it. In addition they offer many classes and videos and a slew of other tools to help you improve your craft. That in and of itself is worth the small fee. And if you are in it to win something, then again, you’ve missed the whole point of the community, which is described in the About section of their website. That said, ViewBug has vastly improved my skills and my photos rank higher and higher each month. A win would be cool, but the experience is priceless.
I have a major dispute and I want to SPEAK TO SOMEONE ON THE PHONE!
Only those with paid accounts win contests.
I Have to agree with you. I was probably stupid enough to subscribe to a PRO membership at a "special" summer discount price (70 $). As I have a business, I asked them to send me an invoice.
Know what? They can't ! They say they don't have the "software" to generate invoices, while all you need is Word and a free template you can find in the internet...
So I asked a refund which of course they refuse...
In my opinion this whole ViewBug thing is a scam... Any normal business would be happy to serve their customers, but apparently ViewBug has no customers but only "pigeons" (french for "scammed people").
Living in Belgium, I was wondering where I could file complaint in the US against a company that doesn't want to send proper invoices to their customers?
Total waste of money. Accolades, badges, etc. do not pay bills. Your chance of winning a contest is like buying a lottery ticket. At least if you win the lottery you receive your prize.
I have been on Viewbug for over three years. Mu photos are in museums, books, magazines, National Parks and galleries. On Flickr I have over 5 million views. On Viewbug, I'm lucky if I get 1000 views in a year. I'm done.
I love the site! I've been on it for three years and I get lots of joy participating in the contests and challenges and have met some interesting people on the site. This review sounds like someone who apparently thinks he or she is a master photographer and somehow not enough homage is paid to his or her work. Bullcrap! As with most things that are free, they are not worth having. Hopefully having to pay to join keeps people away like the reviewer who started this inaccurate, sour grapes, alleged review.
Today I received my price, - as a money transfer through paypal. ... Everything is OK NOW ..
Better late that ever ... Maybe I was a little too much concerned .
And Viewbug was just behind with their work ..
No problem with ViewBug.com -
I won a composition on Viuwbug, and i don´t get my price .. A Canon EOS 70D ..
If i chould get the price, - i will correct my statement here ..
otherwise I would like to connect with others who have experienced the same.
I already have three examples .. 1 in the US, 1 in Holland, 1 iNew Zealand
I have all the proof, - the e-mails, - the screenshots ..
I suspected Viewbug to be a ponzi/pyramid scam within the first couple of days on the site. That it was became clear when, withing five days of joining on the premium trial I was asked to become a 'Curator'. Viewbug said how prestigious being asked to curate was, that only 5% of people qualify. Curators job? To 'fluff' NEW JOINERS (the bottom row of the pyramid) with compliments and likes, which encourages them to pay money to keep recieving the attention. My trial has just run out. The photos I've uploaded are my best, and have recieved virtually no attention now the Curator's/fluffers are being given their next row of NEW JOINERS for Viewbug to try and fleece.
I did join Viewbug, and paid for it to give myself more opportunities to display my photos. I never won anything in contests, but I was OK with that. However, when Viewbug created an internal contest called 'challenges' and made it sound like it was a great opportunity to be creative, I created some challenges. One of the challenges disappeared (after being displayed for sometime) from VB entirely. No reason given. I ignored that. Recently they did something similar to another challenge. I saw that two pictures were posted on it, but then it disappeared completely. Since people didn't know it existed, nobody was posting. I announced it on facebook and twitter, and sent individual messages to enter that challenge. I got good response. I contacted VB many times to display that challenge, but they refused. No reason given, except "not all challenges are displayed". So why give the impression to members that they actually have an opportunity when that's not the case? I am fed up with their attitude. I am currently a PRO member with a top 10% rating, but I am going to leave that community. I know there are other sites that will allow me to display my pictures and provide some other opportunities as well.

Low-quality Porn on ViewBug!
I understand the aggressive selling tactics can be a bit annoying and much of the content posted on the site is very basic and sometimes poor.
But, to be honest, I am happy to put up with that because I like sharing and viewing other peoples work regardless of the photographers level of competence or cost of equipment.
However, what spoils it for me is the pornography and fetish element to many of the challenges!
People are asked to set a challenge, I have lost count of the sunset challenges, and because nobody wins anything it can be fun to enter and I have actually won and been well placed in some.
However, I have started to notice that more and more of the challenges are becoming more of a request for adult fetish photographs. And with no apparent limited to just how much can be shown and from what angle!
As a keen photographer and a professional art painter, I have no problem with nudity if subtle and artistic but much of this is just xxx adult fetish photography - porn.
If you are happy for ViewBug to be used as a porn and fetish site it should not be mixed with tasteful artistic nudes ... it is not good enough to just lable it adult contend when it is clearly porn.
