Employee and client treatment
I have been in healthcare 20yrs and have never seen an agency care less about their caregivers or clients. Dont expect any word in your contract to be true because i can promise you its not, they dont care who they send you only that they put a body in your home and when you realize things missing or you just want to change caregivers you will be berated...

My Mom, 80 Years old and suffering from a mild form of dementia hired Visiting Angels to visit 2 hours in the morning and 2 in the evening to help with dressing, bathing, cleaning and meal preparation. At some point recently her need increased to 24 hours. Things have come up missing, Angels were discovered to be doing their own laundry in mom...

Marian Karons, franchise owner, does NOT run background checks BEFORE sending caregivers out to clients' homes.
She sits with family members and touts how EVERY worker of hers has passed a comprehensive background check, only to find out later, that that isn't true!
She had a caregiver working with one client for THREE WEEKS, when the client found out that caregiver did NOT pass the background check!
She does not have enough workers to support the clients she signs contracts with. Some of her "caregivers" refuse to do any work! When they are rejected by one client, they are sent to another, instead of fired!
Marion has been known to yell and scream at clients and family members, call names, fling insults and hang up on them!
She comes in with promises and pleasantries. Neither is worth much, nor do they last.
Her employees have difficulties with her - if not outright unhappy! Apparently, she yells at them, threatens their jobs if they can't work certain hours - despite being informed of that fact before hiring - and pays them HALF of what she charges for the service!
According to reviews from this, and other sites, it looks as if this company has similar issues all over the states!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

Awful to employees
Visiting Angels guarantee part-time work and I didn't have a job and was happy to finally start work. Lasted just 2 weeks. First assignment went okay but ended. VA offered me something else right away. I accepted. As soon as I told them my availability there became a problem. VA only offered 2 days 3 tops out of 14. No one I know can pay their bills with the wages they pay working just 3 days out of 14. So I take another part-time job with another company. VA policy states that employees can work with someone else as long as it doesn't conflict with their schedule. So of course when I went over my schedule with the office manager she acted like everything was okay I thought. Next thing I know I'm promptly taken off the schedule completely. I ask only to never get an explanation from the office manager. I'm told she's "busy" every time I call. I finally reach the owner and she looks at the notes by her office manager stating that I didn't want to work. Lies. Never told her that. One red flag that I should have paid attention to when I was doing orientation was when the owner came into the office managers office and said right in front of me " One of our workers is concerned she will get fired for having the flu" They laugh and say "We don't fire ppl for being sick" Wow! Sounds like that worker knew she was in for it if she spent too many days out from the job! Next thing I call and finally get the office manager to admit they have no work for me. Of course I file for unemployment. I had a phone interview with that agency accusing me of refusing work. Visiting Angels told them that I said I couldn't work and wanted to change my schedule. Yes that true! I did discuss my schedule BEFORE I FILED FOR UNEMPLOYMENT NOT AFTER! Very nasty individuals. Unemployment concluded that their allegations were unfounded. Don't go to work for this agency and try to work with this office staff like a grownup you will be treated badly.
Fraud
Visiting Angels of Ocean County / Toms River in NJ sent unlicenced home health aids with criminal records without finger prints to care for my father with brain cancer while he was paralyzed resulting in a current New Jersey Attorney General Investigation to fine with penalty owner Lori with violation of "The Consumer Fraud Act". I covered every shift sometimes up to 22 hours per. day because something just wasn't right! After giving information to the Franchise who agreed to help me in this matter, they abandoned me like all the rest in this industry. The company billed us overtime and for over $40, 000.00 for illegal and unlicenced home health aides with criminal records. Lori sold the company to two other gentlemen who are now aware of her offense via the franchise owner Visiting Angels National.
Yes, Visiting Angels does not run there company the way it should be ran. Very poor. Would NOT use this company!
Failure to provide care
Company representative inidicated company guarantees same care provider for 3 months after family/client interviews and selects careprovider. Careprovider came into home, did not adhere to written care instructions about the care of an elderly client with Alzheimer's disease. After 4 days, received call that the care provider would need to be replaced "so...
