I paid for a movie download of .99; this included a FREE 10 day trial. The next day, $29.90 was placed on my credit card without my authorization. I've been getting the run around when I tried to get my refund. They refunded .90 to my credit card!

I wanted to try zml at first so i went on ahead and charged the .99 cents to my card only to find out that instead of taking just .99 cents they also took 56 dollars. When i emailed them to try and get my money back they keep responding by trying to send me to a link that does not work.Of course i cancelled my account with them within 30 minutes of this happening though i am still having trouble contacting anyone about getting my money refunded.

You all sound like idiots ! You can't get something for NOTHING ! And the reason you can't get movies to download is because you have NOT read the directions ! My gosh you all must be a bunch of frickin LIBERALS, And if you are, You know I am right, You expect to get something from someone (the movie company) and NOT have to pay ! read the fine print before you flip out next time. This web site is AWESOME, I download a couple movies a day while my husband is at work, Yes some take a long time, But I clear disk space every couple day's and then it works fine.

OMG...I wish I had read the reviews before I signed up with them. Same thing happened to me. Supposed to be $.99 for a one-day trial. They hit my credit card up for $57 and some change plus $1.75 (instead of the $.99). Pissed anc can't get a refund. Tried downloadng as many movies as possible today...OMG takes 14 hours for some movies, 5 hours for most. Can't believe it. And now it won't let me download anymore. Keep getting error messages. how do we shut these people down?

This people took $57 and some change out of my checking account without my authorization. When you do a search to download movies theirs is the first website to come up. They only give you 24 hours to cancel your subscription and then they take the money and don't even check to make sure you want to keep the service. Then it takes at least 5 hours and in some cases 14 hours to download a movie. You have to stay up an entire week to download the movies you entitled to. Unfortunately you can't because after a certain amount of time or downloads you get error messages and can't continue. I want to hurt someone I'm so angry. Makes it hard for legitimate businesses because now I'm never buying anything on the internet again. Done!

Me too. Website says nothing about recurring charges. Said I had a 24-hour 'trial' period to d/l movies for $.99 (up to 10 movies I think). First (and ONLY) one I tried to download got an error. Tech support said to 'try again'. Then, charged $57.54 to my bank account. I have emailed them for a full refund AND canceled .. all WITHIN 24 hours of creating the account. Have not heard back from them yet.

posted this on a few other sites:

I signed up to zml on a whim because it was only a $1 and it advertised that it had an old movie I was looking for. When I got in, it did not have that movie. Out of curiosity I wanted to check out their upgrade plan and pressed a button, and bam, I was automatically upgraded.

I reviewed their FAQ and immediately cancelled. I sent a message to their customer service. I didn't hear back. Their billing records said my card was declined anyway and membership cancelled. But fast forward a few weeks and I find that I was charged ~ $60 because of the exchange rate.

After reading various sites I decided to cancel my credit card. My credit card company couldn't do anything about this dispute. Anyway I emailed zml again and they thankfully refunded the money (of course the bank cuts into the exchange rate... but that's the ###ing bank for you). And I saw a history of my past inquiry. So I suppose their communications systems aren't 100% reliable either.

If you read the FAQ carefully, they have a policy of refunds if you don't download any movies. Always try to read the terms! I still found their service very shady and feel sorry for the people who were charged, but I was lucky enough to get a refund. It was a hassle for me too.

too long didn't read version:

pros:
refunded my money

cons:
-customer service isn't reliable you may need to message them again
-upgrade button has NO confirmation
-didn't have the movie they advertised

I love it, people are so dumb...
You trusting fools are the kind of people that keep mediums in business, you will hear what ever you want to hear, and it is always someone elses fault!
My favourite complaint here is one that involves lots of "cursing" as you Americans would say. How can you expect to be taken seriously if you cannot control your mouth when trying to outline a reasoned argument?
There are options (if you had bothered to look) that allow you to put $19.99 into your account without signing up for a deal. The risk based decision then comes from a bit of pre-research before you hand over money, the same as any transaction that you might make anywhere in the world. Ask around, anyone who knows the slightest bit about the internet, hell even a gym membership, would tell you that a trial is always fair.. it's a virtual foot in the door.. but will make you work real hard to get out of it.
My advice is to ensure that you take time, do the due diligence and start looking at your own actions before you embarrass yourself when the T&Cs are then laid out in front of you in black and white.

I joined up 4 days ago and the site is brilliant. I'm from Australia and had no problem understanding what I was getting into. I dont understand how people think ZML is a scam or illegal. Countries have different release dates of movies, so I believe ZML isnt doing anything wrong. I was aware of the deal - 10 movies for 0.99cents, but decided to pay $60AUD because of the exchange rate. alot of good movies - eg Avatar, Underworld movie series, New Moon - just to name a few . Its alot cheaper then having to go to the video shop & ZML is adding more movies each month which is great.
Its not P2P and you download movies for private use only, nothing illegal about that.

There is enough information on the website to explain the set-up aslong as people read all the info first. Yes people, you need to read things first before clicking.

You guys are lucky! I signed up for the .99 cent 1 day trial and over the past 2 days they have taken $108 out of my account! I am printing some of these complaints off and bringing to my bank along with the email where they said before they hit me with the 2nd charge that I would be getting a full refund!

This company is the biggest rip-off I ever ever seen. They told me they were going to charge my card $0.99, and I was charged $54.99 the next day. I have been trying to get my money back, but they refuse to call me or give me a number to call to complain. I did however dispute this with my credit card company, and they have told me not to use the website anymore and they would refuse to pay them. It will take up to 15 days before the money is available on my credit card, but at least I won't be responsible to pay them. They are the biggest scam out there, DO NOT try them out... you'll regret it!

I do not know how ZML got my info- in fact I got an email thanking me for joining with some member info. I said, "wow, cool, I'll check it out." I downloaded a few movies, which took forever, and some with no sound. I started to wonder how they got the distribution rights to some first run movies and THEN found that they had my credit card info! Holy Crap! What is going on?

I was charged over the weekend. I saw.a charge for 34.32 as a pending transsaction comming from a co. Called newkinocenter.com. my bank could not tell me who were these people. Well, after carefully searching the internet found out that this entity works with or is the same as zml.com. Now, I must say I have used them in the past no problem. And yes I had requested for the 24hr access only. It clearly says on their site no more no less for a 24r hr 10 downloads access. That was all I wanted, but, to my surprise they chaRged me for the montly service. That should have only happend if I had clicked on that button that says to upgrade to premium service for 233 downloads. But, I did not click on that button. Neatless to say, I was not able to download not even one movie. I was extreamly slow. So I just logged off. I have a recipt that says I paid for a 24 hr access only. Yet I was charged more than the .99 cents. I have immediately emailed them called my bank to report fraud my bank still paid them because they did get the authorization via web. They did indeed, but, only for .99 cents. There teerms and conditions clearly says subscription can be canceled within 24 to 48 hrs. Also says that they issue refund within 2 days of the reported incident. Its been much more than that and still no refund. They only sent me an email 2 days ago that the refund would take 5 to 7 days. Now you be the judge they have there own terms and conditions yet they don't abide by them! Anyone wishes to contact me, email at sandrabernal31@msn.com .

I also was scammed but instead of them taking 29 or 39 dollars they took out $55 from my account I have emailed them repeatedly. I was on their site, put my card info in and then automatically checked my bank account to see what was there. $55 stolen instead of 99 cents. How do we contact them to get our money back? All of the time that I was on their site was 20 minutes. I think I will also be contacting legal advice as well. SCAM SCAM SCAM!

I was charged $54...I'm having to file a claim with my bank. This site is absolutely fraudulent, you are charged the monthly fee immediately, NOT after the 1-day 99 cent trial period. There's literally NO way of contacting them either, no phone number, no customer service, only a service request form. I am out almost $60 and there's nothing I can do about it.

i would like it to have explained premium information without pressing the upgrade button. i thought i was getting info to upgrade, and instead i was charged 39.5 euros ($54 american). i immediately withdrew my application (before i left the page). the payment was deducted from my account, and it read like it would happen monthly. I contacted my bank and was unable to stop it, so i closed that account. I was happily surprised to see that zml HAS refunded my account, and my fear of fraudulent practice was relieved.this company has gotten a lot of bad reviews from this and other sites, i felt i needed to say, that they did right by me

I read on the web site that I had a FREE 01 day trial. In the same day, $2.99 and $48.68 was placed on my credit card without my authorization. I've been trying reach them via email but they do not response anything. I have not made any download since then because I do want my money back. These guys are not worth!

Like many services these days; they place a "hold" or "credit authorization" on your account prior to allowing you to sign up. That's not a bad thing per say; NetFlix has hit me for $59 once and when you sign up a a BlockBuster store you're hit with almost a $100 hold. Gas Stations hit you for $250 to $500 just for pumping $60 in gas. It goes away after a few days to a week or so if you cancel.
As for the 24 hour trial, READ!

It's stated you need to cancel within 24 hours. If you took to time to READ what you were clicking through, you would have known. If you fail to cancel and got charged; it's not a scam, it's your own stupidity.

As far as any holds go, it's to make sure you're able to pay for what you take.
