Good day Management of SPUR
On Saturday, 15 February 2020, we were at the SPUR at Greenstone Mall. While at your premise our innocent kids were playing in your play area at about 20H45. My son (age 11), daughter (age 10) and niece (age 8), a man verbally attacked them for no reason whatsoever. He screamed, shouted and pointed his finger at young vulnerable kids in your play area. All the witnesses were traumatised including other kids. Our kids are traumatised and are constantly in tears because of what was said. He was bullying them for no reason. The kids do not understand "WHY" he shouted at them because they did not do anything wrong.
One of the comments was "PEOPLE LIKE US, ACT LIKE THAT. PEOPLE LIKE US LIE." This is pure RACISM that has taken place at SPUR.
Why did your attendants not intervene? Where were your attendants during this time? No Adult should engage with other people's children in that way.
We were notified by another young child that was in tears because of this man's behaviour towards our children. According to video footage that a family member (Mr & Mrs Govender parents of the 8 year old) viewed the child also told an attendant or a waiter about what was going on. WHAT AND HOW DID YOUR STAFF HELP MY KIDS WHEN THIS HAPPENED? A second person notified us, a lady, that she witnessed this man abusing our kids.
When we heard this, my husband ask a waiter to call the Manager. The manager didn't even come until the man saw us telling the waiter and looking at them, he then shouted across the restaurant to tell us to come over to his table. If he had an issue with the kids he should have brought it to our attention (the parents) or the attendant so that we could have resolved the matter. During this time your manager on duty said absolutely NOTHING to resolve the matter at hand. Things could have gotten out of hand, had my husband not tried to stay calm.
Our kids were so traumatised that they didn't want to speak to us. When got to the car they burst out into tears telling us about what this man had said "PEOPLE LIKE US, ACT LIKE THAT. PEOPLE LIKE US LIE." This is pure RACISM that has taken place at SPUR. We then came back to the spur to speak to manager and advise him that we require the video footage of the incident.
If your staff did not come to the aid of my kids. ARE ANY OTHER CHILDREN SAVE IN YOUR PLAY AREA?
We had a telephonic conversation with the owner who advised us that he would get a written apology from his customer. We have yet to receive an apology.
