power outage
I live at 902 Burnt Pine Drive Maylene Alabama 35114. my power went off at approximately 7 p.m. And there were no updates until 11: 30 p.m. When finally the phone number updated me saying service workers were in route to attempt to fix the problem. This is after all my food has been spoiled And I do not understand why no one was on their way sooner to attempt to fix the problem. There is no other neighborhood without power and lately everytime it rains our power has been going out. Why would workers not respond quicker than basically the middle of the night? I cannot have all my food spoil every single time we have bad weather because the power company is unreliable. I also have 2 small babies at home with no air during the hot summer.. this is unacceptable.
forced to pay current bill when not overdue
#Single Parent - I paid the past due amount of my bill as I always do every month and the billing department is telling me this month I have to pay the current bill as well or they are shutting off my power. The current bill is not overdue so they should not be threatening to shut off my power. I'm not to be billed again until 20 July 2018. If you care about your customers you wouldn't be doing this and from looking at previous complaints I see I am not the only one this has happened to.
They just did me the same way. I contacted the utilities commission.
I just contacted them about MY situation and the lady was kinda ho-hum about it all saying she MIGHT not be able to do anything. It's unreal how Alabama Power treats their customers.
That’s my issue at the moment! And tomorrow is Friday so we are looking at the weekend to go without power! They are ridiculous
They just called me with this bull. My husband get paid Friday I asked could I pay the rest which is not overdue then.. they told me no the system wont let me I have until tomorrow or it will be off.. This is ridiculous I have 3 kids one which is a newborn and its cold in Tuscaloosa!
no power
After a brief rain shower I was without power after many harmful surges on and off for 7 hours. You continuously lie about power restoration times to the point that you should not even provide a guess started at 1900 then 2100 then 2315 waited 50 minutes on hold to be hung up on. Power restored at 0100 the next day. My asthma, pet and coral aquarium are permanently damaged from this. Your entire system is garbage. I know this falls on deaf dumb and blind senses but I just want to say "You do a pathetic job and I feel like I am in Puerto Rico with the quality of power I have received for the past year."
driver
I encountered one of your drivers on the road and was cut off by him which almost caused me to hit him. I then took a picture of his plate which caused him to follow me home, due to I believe his fear of being reported. I called my husband from the driveway as I was afraid to get out of my car. This is bad employee conduct. This happened at around 1:20 pm on 6/23/18. I have pictures showing this. After my husband came out he left as he did not have business here. My email is [protected]@gmail.com. This man was very aggressive in his manner and driving and very unprofessional.
loss of power again
To all the dip [censored] at Alabama power. How about one or two supervisors pulling their digits from their prodigious anal passage, getting hold of an employee or two and have them make a trip to Springville Alabama to find out why every time one of their wives fart, I lose power. Hey guys FYI if power goes out in an area time and time again, you might be a redneck. Inertia is not that hard to maintain if you will get your [censored] in gear press the gas pedal and head this way.
Idiots.
Also want to send some love to Jacqueciadarrius in customer service. Did a great job of being disinterested in the problem while managing to dazzle me with her economy of the scripted English language in such a way as to insure me she graduated top of her class from the I don't give a damn about customers Alabama power training academy. Way to vet those employee candidates!
Oops have to go now someone made a mistake and actually turned my power on within a 4 hour window of time.
Wait... power just went off again. Thanks Alabama power my faith in the fact that every good thing you do is accidental has been restored.
Eat [censored] and [censored] cork soakers!
frequent power outage
We have lived in our current house for over 12 years. Within the past several months new power poles have been installed in the area. Since then we have lost power more times than in all the 12 years combined. Power goes out randomly during bad weather or good weather, day or night, no apparent reason and it is usually off for hours. Please find a remedy for this poor customer service this asap. Thank you
neighbor stealing electricity
Resident at 1705 MLK Blvd in Northport, Al 35476 is unlawfully using power when power has been disconnected and a lock was put on the meter. Ronald Smith obviously has opened the lock on the meter and is currently using power. Which he is using to have a party disturbing the peace... Please do something about this immediately. He has been reported on before and has no regards for obeying.
tree trimming
I had a man from asplundh come by at 9:30 this morning (4-12-18) and ask my permission to trim some limbs on my oak tree in my back yard. I told him that was fine and he asked that I move some vehicles so they can pull into my backyard. I went to get the keys and he informed me it would be next week before they come. I told him that would be fine and I would move them when they come. He left. I went to take my father in law to the doctor. Came home a few hours later and they have taken every tree off the upper part of my property around a power line. We never discussed cutting these. I am extremely upset because thus was a line of trees used to separate our neighbors from us. Privacy trees if you will. There are still trees lying on the ground and splintered stumps sticking out of the ground. I have before and after photos but the file is to large to load.
electric service
In december and january I had 500 and 400 and something dollar power bills. I was adamantly told by a csr that it was due to the weather conditions. My home heated only by a 6000 btu unit even if it ran 24/7 it could not account for the almost 5000kwh your company says I used in december. No credits were made to my account but I was put on budget billing to help offset the remaining 200 from the combined almost 1000 in power bill I had in two months. I was told as long as I was using less that 241 dollars of electricity with the budget billing that's what my payment would be well for the last 2 months i've had a 241 bill (with only using 200 worth of electric), however now in getting a notification that my budget billing is going up to 279 a month? What the [censor] gives? Someone needs to fix this before I have to get an attorney to fix it I cant afford this [censor].
My service has been out at my residence for 13 hours in the heat. This is the longest time experience for outages compared to other outages for Alabama Power service. Their service once was prompt, but now there are not enough people working to restore service. I drove around in the north area and I only saw one Alabama Power truck. Next, customer service did not answer the phone. The auto system identified my outage location, but after hours of calling, I never got an estimated time when my power would be restored. Over the years the cost has increased, but the service has digressed. Alabama power came out and took the power box off the house due to dangerous sparks flying. They left lines down and they have yet to restore power. I walked into the office of Alabama Power downtown Birmingham, AL., and there was no computerized documentation of them ever coming out; therefore while they were there, they could have assessed and fixed the problem, but they did neither. The service is not professional.
power bill
Due to the increase rates and winter from January and February I got behind on paying my bill made arrangements Alabama Power did not live up to the arrangements and cut my power after going in speaking to mr. Sutton at Gardendale Alabama Power. He gave me till Friday at 8:30 when they opened I was on my way to pay my bill unaware of the 8:30 when they opened and the bank opened at 9:45, all the difference was 8:30 power is still off would not work with me.
power service
Each month I pay my pass due bill when my new bill comes out due to my pay period. Never have I had a problem. Nothing has change about my bill and when its due. So this is how I pay each month. Now I get a disconnect which requires an additional 50 dollars and all the rep and the manager told me was, I should have set up a payment arrangement. No concern, no assistance to help, No empathy and not looking at my payment history to see that this is how I been paying. You all need better customer service skills. Changing up the way you do billing is wrong. Being consistent is the key. If there is no grace period then say so. Don't assume I should have set up a payment arrangement or say I am lucky. Its rude. I cant wait to move out of this state.

customer service & billing
You need to find more employees like Kim Adams from the River Region area. I'm not sure which branch she is at now but she previously worked at your Wetumpka & Tallassee branch. It really makes a difference when your employees love what they do & care about their customers. She truly is a gem & we sure do miss seeing her friendly face! She has always been so understanding when we've had to make a payment arrangement & that's something you don't see much of now.
electricity interruptions happening randomly knocking out my equipment that is vital for my business.
During the night of February 9th between 1 A. M. and 4 A. M. we had multiple power interruptions. I cannot afford to have these type of power problems.
We run a hotel with 24 hour operations. We need power with no disturbances. We have customer complaints all night because power problems knock out all of the television channels.
This type of random power outage did not happen until recently but only after there was work being done on power lines between 6th Avenue North and 12th Street all the way done 12th Street around 4th Avenue North in downtown Birmingham.
power cut off for being 1 week late with freezing temps
Our power is off with 20 degree temps on the morning. All over $186 bill was one week late. I just listened to a representative from Alabama Power this morning on the radio stating power would not be cut off during freezing temps. YOU LIED! Can pay bill on Friday but customer service was of NO HELP. I definitely wish there was another company we could get electricity from. Alabama Power has a monopoly and Customers have no recourse!
I can appreciate the frustration, but why would one expect anything different if the bill wasn't paid?
bill
I dont see how they can charge 200 or close to the same amount for the non hot/ nor cold season. Summer gets here I realize air conditioners bring it up. But then to receive a 750 bill for one month its unreal. Not only does that seem impossible but that wont investigate or work w you. So in less then 3 weeks of each other I paid 350 and 350 and because of this how is one suppose to pay other bills when its taken a while pay check to keep one month of lights. Its ridicoulous and they seem to be doing it to everyone. Its sad when your power bill takes more then car payments and two weeks groc money just to keep lights and heat. Especially when you take care of special needed child and sick spouse. Something should be done.
electric bill
Lived in the same house all my life and no matter what I do I cannot keep my power bill down. I had got it down. I managed to lower it to 168.00 for October, now it's almost 400 dollars. Everyone I know is complaining. We are not leaving lights on. I am actually scared to turn lights on. I have lowered the heat pump, there is just no reason for this. A few years ago when they put the, digital meters in it's been almost impossible to lower the power bill. Someone needs to investigate this company. We no lo ger put up christnas lights havent in years so it, cant be that. Is there anyo e that can gelp us. If you try to compkain to them its like talking to the, wall. power bill
I just moved in to an apartment my first bill is over 200 dollars I am in a 1 bedroom alone. I am told my heat made the bill this high. I dont undertand how one thing can account for most of my bill. my father died yesterday I have no other funds an will not be able to pay my bill in full. I was told all that can is an extention for 19 days which wont help being that I am living on diisiblity I recive monthly checks. I dont understand how a a company can be so cold. I am trying to atleast pay towrds what I owe and continue to pay. this is a serious problem and I cant understand how this company has no understanding things always happen in life that we can not control thats life you know that but obviously dont care which is a serious problem because you guys know we have no choice in what company supplies us with energy. something needs to be done because your customers should mean more to you. So thanks to you guys I will be in the dark with no heat. Great to know that I risked my life for country and this is what is allowed to go on it makes you want to just give up. I pray that something will be done because your company is very cold and unfair. I would file several complaints but it will just be more wasted time off of my life for nothing.
electric service
Alabama power is one of the few companies I know of that do not care about actual customer service. Their intent is never to take care of the customer, regardless of what the situation is. You can be going through every crisis in the world, and ask to speak to as many supervisors as you want, requesting something as simple as a 2 day extension outside of what the automated system is allowing, and they will turn you away, putting you in an even worse situation than the original issue. Now, not only do you have a balance with them (which is now an outstanding balance), but you're also responsible for a reconnect fee, and you and your family have no power. Now if you took the time to call and notify them of the issue, should that not be taken into consideration? Should it not be taken into consideration that if you did not have the original balance due, that it may be almost impossible for you to provide the original amount along with the $150 reconnect fee that is now also required for you to get your family out of the dark? I understand that some situations are not justifiable for varying reasons, but something as simple as the request of 2 extra days to give them all of the money owed, being denied is beyond me. They simply tell you no, with no remorse or concern for the customer at all. There has never been a time where i've contacted alabama power and felt I was assisted as best as possible. Is customer care not important to the company at all?
power bill
My name is Carolyn Hill my account no is [protected]
I received a disconnect notice in the mail on 10/16/2017 it stated that my services will be interrupted on the 17th I jumped on my phone and called I was told that I did not pay the entire bill and because of that I was two months behind. Know I did not pay all the hold bill I paid 300.00 the other 45.00 I used to have my prescriptions filled. So I asked the clerk could I pay my bill this coming Friday 10/20/2017 I was told that they can note it on my account but they could not guarantee my light will remain on, now from this point on I live in fear that my light will be off when I come home from a hard day at work. Can you tell me why is no one is willing to work with me
limbs left in my yard october 3, 2017
The pole in my yard had to be replaced due to a drunk driver. Alabama Power had to trim trees near the existing pole to install the new one. They are supposed to leave the location in better condition than what they find it. This is according to their instructions when they're hired.
I called October 5 and was told by they would be out that day to pick up the mess. They didn't show.
I called again on October 6 and was told by a Mrs. Eddy I was on the schedule to be picked up that day. I told her some limbs were right at the edge of the road and I didn't want problems with the city or county. They didn't show again.
I called on October 9 and was told they would place the order again and that it was all she could do. Tasha couldn't give me a day or time and the customer service number is the only number I can call.
This wouldn't happen in the CEO's yard.
When the crew that came to TRIM the limbs away from power lines they cut half of my tree down. Before I could get my clothes on to tell them to stop he had cut several huge limbs that were no where near the lines. I am going to be very upset if that 50 year old pecan tree dies.
