Deficient Rewards feature
App doesn’t show an active rewards count clock like previous version and the wallet connection to the voting site doesn’t work properly, first is hard to actually get a connection stablished, then if you manage to get a connection the app doesn’t help record a vote if the voting window is open, which happened to my wallet the last voting session. I had pledged a balance for the voting session and when it came time to vote the app didn’t allow my vote to count nor receive any rewards I may have accumulated on the voting period. Disappointed
Awful Name Change
The name change and app icon change is the worst. It's really awful. Algorand itself is great and I loved the old app. If you made a deal with FIFA and want to expand the userbase and get the name out there the app should've stayed simply Algorand for the sake of simplicity for new people to crypto. Algorand is going to be the first crypto a lot of first time buyers will go with in the future do to the new deal, and the name change and the app icon are going to muddy the waters. It was a really poor decision, and the design of the icon is ugly.
Wait… What?! Wow
This actually made me excited. Seamless deposit from Bittrex of all exchanges. I have had other coin deposits take forever from Bittrex and the cost was ridiculous. Just boom.
Simple, insanely fast (nearly instant) and extremely cheap. I honestly don’t know what more one could ask for in terms of an IOS app wallet.
Very clean, user friendly and intuitive.
This app operates as smooth as butter. I have downloaded a few other apps and they truly aren’t anywhere near as well done as this. I’m sort of confused to be honest with you.
Well done.
Not a fan of Pera
Have to start by saying that even though I’m not super happy with the app in it’s current state. It is still much better than just about every other wallet out there for other coins.
I really don’t like how the balance is displayed. When it used to be the Algowallet it gave both the Algo value and USD or preferred currency value. Pera started by doing this but then recently shifted to only able to select in Algo or in USD. Little things like this make this app frustrating as with each new change it seems like it’s getting less user friendly and aesthetically pleasing.
So far…
This has been a great wallet for its current functionality. Easy to use and figure out if you have a basic understanding of how to use computers, smartphones, social media apps, and video games. However, I did have a bit of a scare during a wallet update. I logged in once to see no funds available, my mind experienced fear, confusion, and partial death with a overwhelming increase in body temperature and pulse. 10 minutes later I was fine, my funds reappeared and I learned there was a wallet update. Life crisis averted and my 11.897611 Algos are safe. This is a nice wallet that will most likely improve in the future.
Regression from the original app
In many ways, the new app design is a step backwards, without promise of improvement:
- the yellow background and seed logo doesn’t match any of Algorand’s design elsewhere and is not pleasant to look at
- displaying asset amounts in dollars as opposed to the true asset quantity is confusing and obfuscates the intention of a crypto wallet
- a name change from Algorand Wallet is OK, but Pera Wallet is not a good name. It does not instill confidence in the product and it confuses what it’s purpose is. Take TrustWallet as an example - love it or hate it, the name invokes positive connotations for what the app does and is.
Transaction History is a Mess!
The update to Pera was an interesting rebrand. I like the interface and that they’ll support viewing NFTs in-wallet soon.
Unfortunately, this release is rife with many issues. If I click on a particular asset, it shows a transaction history for another asset.
The History section is showing millions of an asset entering and leaving my wallet, which is impossible since I am not even opted in to those assets. When viewing the transaction on algo explorer, it shows a completely different transaction amount with a different ASA.
I am not sure what happened but this is a terrible update. Go back to the old one until you can fix this!
Trash. Simply doesn’t work
The Pera update from the “Official Algorand wallet” upgrade simply doesn’t work. The app hangs with an endless “Loading” message when trying to send algos between two wallets in the app (one native and one ledger). I’ve tried literally everything including hard reboot of the phone, uninstall/reinstalling the app and re-establishing my accounts.
I am NOT a novice. I’ve been using these accounts and this wallet app (prior to the pera update) for years (plural).
The rest of the app if it worked, (which it doesn’t) is also a downgrade compared with the clean and simple design of its predecessor.
Honestly trash. Absolutely frustrating.
Hit and miss
This app doesn’t work well when interacting with other apps thru browsers such as Yieldly or Tinyman rewards in Crome or Firefox without work arounds. I missed out on my governance voting opportunity because this app crashed while voting on Governance page. I thought I had voted but transactions did not validate. Now I use the app interacting with safari and can usually get through one transaction, but if I try to claim more rewards or a different pool I get an error code that Pera won’t launch. I’m rarely on a computer and like to use my phone and it doesn’t work the majority of the time. Super disappointed because I wanted this to work for me.
Don’t care for the redesign and bad timing
What’s with all the empty space? Looks messy. At least we can rearrange wallets now, but not sure why they didn’t extend this to ASAs within the wallet, especially with the extra scrolling the useless empty space at the top causes.
And maybe making sure everyone knows Hipo, the team behind Tinyman and their recent multi-million dollar hack, wasn't the best idea before Algo is even a top 10 or even reliably top 20 crypto.
Should have kept things simple, people already loved the wallet and as far as any casual user was concerned, it was created by and Algorand and is “official” (it wasn’t, but casual users didn’t know that).
Disappointed and concerned.
Poor UX
UX is really clunky. To send even just 1 ALGO, you need to write 1000000. Let the users deal with decimal values instead of forcing them to start typing at the millionth decimal place. There is also no option to send by currency value.
I previously gave a 4-star rating with this same complaint several months ago, but there was no update or response. Perhaps this is due to there being so many 5-star ratings about how wonderful the app is by people who clearly haven’t actually tried using the app for anything other than staking. In any case, I’m hoping this review will be seen by the developers. Will be very happy to revise the score once the UX is improved.
Cannot sell Algo
It's nice that you can buy Algo through the wallet, however it is a bit of a trap since for some reason you cannot SELL that Algo through the app. Not to mention, the spreads and fees used with Moonpay through Pera are somehow worse than Coinbase. I was hoping to never have to use Coinbase again.
Other complaints...
-I see no reason there shouldn't always be a direct link to the governance page within the app.
-It's also a bit of a pissoff to see governors from period 2&3 getting special NFTs dropped, but nothing for period1 governors that chose to stay committed despite the all-time high of $2.50. Reward period1 governors and be fair. I see people selling their NFTs for as much as 500 Algos, it's a spit in the face of period1. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome Pera made these NFTs at all, but it's strange to reward some governors but not others.
-I have inquired with Pera in every communication platform possible, but they always ignore me, going on several months now. Not a good feeling to be so invested yet so unheard. An absolute failure when it comes to User Support.
Positives
-NFT additions are a huge win. They display nicely in the wallet.
-Connecting with apps is quite seemless
-transactions are as fast as Algo. Which is really fast.
Great, simple wallet for the best crypto
ALGO, and the tech behind it, is (in my opinion) the best crypto currency out there. It is actually decentralized (unlike some that call themselves DeFi but really aren’t), scalable, and secure - the first blockchain I know of that has “solved” the blockchain trilemma.
I’m a buy-and-hold kind of guy, and I want to buy and hold a crypto that has some sort of future prospects and solid tech behind it. After doing a couple months of research, I settled on ALGO. I love the foundation and the people behind it (attend their talks, they’re great), their mission, what they’ve built so far, and their future roadmap. As a result, I bought (and continue to buy) ALGO.
At the start I held it in Coinbase, until my research into ALGO led me to this wallet. Coinbase offers 6%, the Algorand Wallet seems to offer over 7%. I’d rather keep all my gains, and keep it off an exchange (for security’s sake), so I signed up for Algorand Wallet.
It’s incredibly easy to use, and I’ve even convinced a couple friends to start getting into crypto using Algorand Wallet and ALGO (I told this is send them a few ALGO if they downloaded the wallet, who doesn’t love free money?)
The future governance plans don’t require you to hold ALGO in Algorand Wallet, but I will continue holding in here as I feel this gives me the best method of staying current and working with the developer’s vision. The only change I will make in the future is purchase a Ledger wallet and link to Algorand Wallet, which is awesome that you can do so to be secure and still stake your ALGO.
Algorand Complaints 16
Lack of support app
I’m on lower version of iOS. App does not allow to update latest version, which means I will be missing some new features. Also, many people in development countries don’t have latest phones or non-tech savvy people don’t like to update their phone version. How do they get to know this app if it doesn’t support lower iOS version? You guys should really focus on bringing “decentralized technology” to everyone, which includes lower iOs version devices.
I Want My ALGO Wallet Back
The child-like simplicity of this app is just, well, what it is. From the ease of use (not really sure what actual use it has), to the non-visibility of the US Dollar value of your tokens, this app has what you’re looking for...except, of corse, for those aforementioned things. The graphics remind me of a Commodore 64 Basic program, but on steroids! While I am a strong believer in the Algorand protocol, I truly hope this is not their “flagship” demo product. If it is, I have made a poor investment decision.
Total Garbage
Used to be an Algo fan and had the original Algo Wallet. Things were going well until they just took a turn towards being weird. Algo used to be an investment for everyone, now it’s become quite cultish with the changes to the community. Transitioning to a governance platform and even changing the name to “Pera Algo” makes the recent changes far less inclusive as it’s harder to understand/ not as straightforward. Seems strange for a platform that seemed to have a shot at becoming a better alternative to eth / top cryptocurrency.

Can’t create new account
Was excited to use this wallet but unfortunately I can’t even get past the “verify your pass phrase” screen. I select from the 3 options but the “next” button never highlights so I’m just stuck on that screen.

Can’t verify private keys
My screen only shows 3 verification questions. It seems like there are 4, but I can’t scroll. Scrolling causes the entire block to shift not just the questions. The “Next” button remains grayed out. I can’t initiate the wallet and send my ALGO

Confusing for an MIT app
It keeps giving passphrase and then it keeps asking me fir them as if I am supposed memorize then in one go. I only got a list of passphrases, not sure what “name ” its asking for. the account name? if yes, why not specify that in the question and even so which of the 30 passphrases does it want?
Very confusing app

Beware
I made a transfer from Algo to Binance. After the transaction, I saved the contact (myself). Algo wallet saved the transaction id instead of the wallet address. Fast forward to now, I went to transfer back to myself and lost 10,000 algos to the transaction id instead of my wallet address.
To say that I am angry is not even coming close to how I feel right now.

About Algorand
One of the key features of Algorand is its consensus mechanism, which is based on a novel algorithm known as pure proof-of-stake. Unlike traditional proof-of-work algorithms, which consume significant amounts of energy and computing power, Algorand's pure proof-of-stake consensus algorithm is designed to achieve consensus quickly and efficiently.
Another unique aspect of Algorand is its commitment to true decentralization. Unlike some other blockchain platforms that have been criticized for becoming too centralized due to the concentration of mining power in the hands of a few large players, Algorand is designed to distribute rewards to a large and diverse set of nodes to encourage participation and help ensure decentralization.
In addition to its advanced consensus mechanism and commitment to decentralization, Algorand also offers several other features that make it an attractive choice for developers looking to build decentralized applications (dApps). These include a smart contract platform that is both powerful and easy to use, as well as a dynamic network that can adjust its capacity to meet demand.
Overall, Algorand is a powerful and innovative blockchain platform that promises to deliver a new era of decentralized applications that are secure, scalable, and truly decentralized. As the technology continues to evolve, it's likely that we will see more and more developers flocking to Algorand to build the next generation of dApps that will shape the future of the decentralized web.
