In February of this year I booked a round trip flight from Albany, NY to Atlanta, GA and purchased travel insurance from Allianz Global Assistance. Due to the current Coronavirus situation, I do not wish to risk taking this flight which was scheduled a couple of days after Easter. I'm in the high risk age group and Atlanta is one of the largest and busiest airports in the world, not to mention who knows how many people will be on the flight. I contacted Allianz and gave them that information along with my travel insurance policy #. They informed me that they will not honor refunds due to the coronavirus pandemic. I think this is totally unconscionable! It is really unbelievable that a company would do this particularly when you see other companies suspending regularly scheduled payments for service that may have been purchased but can't be taken during this crisis. I informed Allianz that I was pretty disappointed and would never purchase insurance from them in the future. Unbelievable!
