Altierus Career College / Everest Institute ending of a program

i had signed up for a class in the afternoon i get to have time with my family and i still get school work done.
now they have decided that because the program that i had enrolled in is changing it's requirements they are going to combine the two classes (morn. and afternoon) together to get everyone out and if we fail one course it now counts as a withdraw and you would still need to pay for the WHOLE CORSE even though you didn't finish it. how many of you can pay 15, 000 dollars so someone can tell you that you need to go to school but not here?

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute School refund not received

Everesr University has been holding my school refund since April 2017 I have not receive anything they been giving me the run around everytime I called. My financial aid advisor put in the wrong school code and did something else wrong which I don't think should of been my fault, he also has not return my calls or emails. I've been calling everyday for the refund and they said they are waiting for my financial aid advisor to release it and for some reason he has not done so. They have been giving me the run around and I wonder is there something that can be done. Please help me I have kids to take care of.

I am currently enrolled at Everst Online through Orlando South and am having the same issues as you are. My financial aid advisor was switched several times and my current advisor will not ever call or email me in return to any complaints or questions I have. I once threatened to transfer schools and got a call the next day but since then nothing. I am currently looking into going to another school regardless if I have to start over again or not. I think that what Everest is doing to people is wrong and something should be done to fix it. I have read several different sites where people talk about the problems with Everest and how no one, not even BBB, will help them.

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Dishonest sales tactics and

When first enrolling at Everest College I was assured that all of the credits were transferrable to larger institution after the course completion. Because I have a family and prior obligations I had inquired about what the total loan would be for the degree I was interested in, and was given an estimate of what my per month payment would be after graduation to see that it would fit into my budget.

I signed up and was soon on my way to the opportunity to a bigger, brighter future. However after graduation, the payment that I had been assured of was almost double. I am not trying to get out of paying what I owe, but I was straight out lied to about the per month “investment” I was getting into. Another problem is that I am interested in advancing my education further at another college and now am being told that none of the credits will transfer. Are you kidding me? What a fraud this place is. I came looking to invest in my future so that I could do better for both myself and my family. Now I am financially strapped beyond my means to a degree that isn’t worth any more than the paper it was printed on. I am proud of my accomplishments, but not this.

Everest College now calls me 2-3 times a month. They want me to take their surveys and have my employer fill out forms regarding my current employment position and responsibilities. They have tried taking credit for helping me advance to my current position, when in all actuality they had absolutely nothing to do with it.

So to sum it up:
-Everest College uses car selling tactics to persuade eager individuals who are willing to invest in their future.
-Your investment figures for your education are minimalized and lied about just to get you to buy into their sales pitch
-The transferability of credits to other institutions is all lied about. The credits are NOT transferrable to ANY reputable school.
-They try to take credit for getting you a job that you already had in the first place. That’s right, they want to falsely pump up their placement ratings so that they can lure in the next one.

There is a HUGE difference between traditional post-secondary institutions(REAL Universitites and Colleges) and PRIVATE/CAREER/VOCATIONAL Businesses. The former are public, regionally accredited institutions that are time-tested and respected in the marketplace, in so far as education is concerned. The latter are SELF-ACCREDITED private businesses, out to turn a profit.

The credits do not transfer because there are absolutely NO similarites to the course content and structures between the two. Take an Everest College "course" and then attempt the alternative at a traditional University and notice the night and day differences between the two.

I do not need to get into specifics about these types of places and their ongoing scams. That stuff is splattered ALL over the internet. Everest and all of these other private schools are viewed by HR professionals and employers as nothing more than FAST-FOOD education. It may acutally be more of a negative having one of their "diplomas" then in not having one at all.

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute False Advertising/Unqualified Teachers

I attened Everest College and was really excited about making a difference in peoples lives. During the course the instructor would not watch us give shots, or draw blood she was busy speaking about her life and divorce and abusive husband. There was a accounting module we had to do I asked the instructor for help and she did not know how to do the accounting or billing, I was so frustrated that I went to the bathroom and cried. I could not believe I am being charged 15000.00 dollars and I was not getting all the education needed for the position which I thought would set me in my career. After graduating I was put in an extern site that was not ready we did mostly construction cleanup, there was no MA, no LPN, or no RN to train us in the field of Medical Assistant or to oversee us doing vitals, labs, or injections. I was so upset that I did leave a message for the extern coordinator and told her this was not for me, I am not learning what I came to school for. I was told that since the Dr. paid for us to learn Epic that I was fired I felt that gaining my experience in my field and getting the extra help from someone who was experienced and we could ask questions of was more important. I was not monitored while talking vitals, nothing it was just the Doctor and 2 externs me being one, the other extern was told to write the Doctors signature on a priscription by the Doctor and she got scared and quit. My Extern Coordinator stated that if I did not find an externsite within two weeks I was going to be dropped, my neighbor gave me the number to someone who runs an Oncology clinic and she let me finish my extern but with just taking vitals, I did one injection, and drew blood on a couple of employees and I was there for a month so still no training provided. After that the Extern Coordinator barely helped me job searches and being new to the field I did not know to much about the hiring process. It has been a year since I have graduated and still no employment, I was offered an interview for a caregiving position that is not what I went to school for. I believe Everest was very misleading in there adds and made you feel as though this would get you the career you deserve. There are so many students out here who owe Everest College money for what they did not accomplish in there add. Everest is a money maker not there to help you get into your field. The College is a disgrace. From top to Bottom.

For God's sake...is there Anyone Here that can finish ONE sentence without massive, horrible grammatical errors? There is an obvious connection here...Everest College as the predator...but unfortunate people that cannot even splice together one sentence in correct form as the prey! I taught for Everest for two full years. I cared deeply for each student and gave them all I had to ensure their success. I quit after the death of my son in Afghanistan. I had incredible students. I also had many that couldn't read! It hurts deeply to read these posts. I experienced my fair share of fights in the classroom. Unprofessional attitudes. Students that came in late or never at all...yet as a teacher...we were asked to deal with grade school level attitudes...and to FIX them. My greatest accomplishment? To do the best teaching that I could, in some horrible situations. I have many that went on to contribute good things in the Medical Assisting field. As I read these posts today...I am glad that I led my classes with integrity and concern for each of my students. I am also happy that I left when I did, despite the horrible circumstances of the loss of my son. I will be following what happens to Everest/ Corinthian Colleges closely. I have a few teacher friends that are still there doing the best they can to change lives.

The elite behind the values of this school is corrupt. It does not surprise me the quality of education is horrible. I cannot stand to watch there condescending, manipulative commercials. If the spokes person if fat or black or fat and black, they end there statement with "If they can do it you can do it." How can a being with an intellectual mind make that assumption? It is such a degrading comment it makes me sick.

One must remember that these places are PRIVATE institutions and are therefore businesses. They are out to turn a profit, not to provide a solid education for their CUSTOMERS. These businesses do not compare, in any way, to traditional Universities and Colleges and the marketplace knows this. They are the inside joke of HR departments across the country.

These "schools" prey on peoples insecurites and exploit these people(the suckers) to the fullest. They take much in the way of money and time and return little in the way of success and results to their customers. One president of a large career college chain in the USA said he wanted his school to become the "Wal-Mart" of education. Hmm. I would not have made that comment so public if I were him. Call it fast-food education!

If you are out to try and impress your friends and family by "going to college"(and think a private college is the equivalent of a traiditonal school), and if you want lame bragging rights then go to a private/career college. If you want a REAL degree that has REAL value then go to a traditional University or College and do it right.

I attended Everest College in Reseda graduated in 2013 in Medical Insurance Billing and Coding. I was sent on a few interviews that had nothing to do with Medical Billing or Coding. Also requested my diploma/certificate of completion several times and never received it. I went in person and also called to request it. Here we are 2 years later and I have nothing to show for all my hard work. Paying a Student loan for an education I have no prove for. No the school closes and there is know one to get a hold of to get my diploma/certificate. Very disappointed in the office staff.

I was attending Everest in Reseda, Ca participating the massage therapist program. Our entire class was scammed by the teacher and Everest. They placed a teacher in our class that new nothing about teaching. She would let us hang out during the class time portion of our class and would only focus on the actual massaging part. So I went to school for over a year and learned only technique and no class work, such as muscles, bones, ailments, etc. we literally only practiced massaging no schoolwork what so ever. Now I struggle with the amount of knowledge I was robbed by Everest college. I would like to sue and get my tuition back. No teaching the students no tuition money!

This school is very deceitful, they bug until they get you in once in they have no more time for you or your complaints. I legally dropped after 3 months it would have been two months but I was told I had to stay till the end of the mod. They billed for books that were not even required or used. And billed me for 760 hours, do the math 2 1/2 months at 4 hours a day monday - friday I came up with 264 and I did not even deduct the days the school were closed for planning days or my personal time off. I will be fighting this tooth and nail. They have their private billing company which I am sure they get a kick back, and also federal school loans billing you. They said they help you get a job, but those I know that completed the course still have no job, and a very big bill. I am so disgusted. Get mad every time I see that stupid commercial.

I
am a recent graduate of Everest University, (associates 3.95 GPA and
honors), I was promised that the credits were regional and transferable
to any school the day I signed up for Everest University; as well as
being able to walk with my classes in graduation LOCALLY. The two most
appealing things for me to sign up. Come to find out near graduating in
October 2013--that there were no accepted locations to walk during my
commencement ceremony. I was told that the acceptance for walking was
changed a few months into my enrollment. That upset me greatly.
Nothing I could do about it, could not afford to fly or drive out of
state to another commencement ceremony. So after graduating--job
placement did nothing. Knowing that I wanted to continue on to my
bachelors, I looked into transferring to a better school. NO ONE would
take my transfer, I would have to start from complete scratch. So this
enraged me. Also, making me stuck with Everest University to get my
bachelors degree. On June 12th, I found out from several other students,
media leaks, and suspicious text messages and emails from the school
that Everest was shutting down, firing people, putting holds on
finances, not recruiting new students. Hiding a lot of truth. I am part
of 3 Everest/CCi communities on facebook where both higher staff and
employees participate as well as many other students. Those who were
asking questions and posting concerns (including myself) were all
deleted and BLOCKED, even from those groups of Everest not active in.
After more allegations and media flying around--no one will answer
phones, or questions. I have paid my life to this school. Stupidly,
because I could not transfer anywhere else and was offered a 15%
presidential scholarship to re-enroll with them, I did. I didnt have
many choices considering how far I went. I didnt want to start all over.
So I am 2 complete terms in--one week from starting a new term went to
this school because I work, and am a busy mother who cannot attend a
campus college. I was completely shammed, lied too.. and taken advantage
of and this ruined me. Now they are risking being closed down, and I am
left with a worthless degree and a large amount of debt.

I'm attending online classes now and I feel as if I'm getting the run around too. One of their representatives just told me I could receive my school funding in another 4-10 weeks when I've already waited 6 weeks. Three and a half weeks ago a representative told me, no guaranteed I'd receive my funding in week 4 of the term, but still no funding. I feel I've been lied to and my financial aid is being kept by the school. To wait 10 more weeks, which makes it 20 weeks before receiving funding, is ridiculous and makes no sense what so ever. I've attended on campus schooling and have never had to wait this long for financial aid funding. Total waste of my time for an additional degree and especially when it put me in a bigger jam by owing extra money I don't have right now.

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Poor quality of care for students

I am currently attending Everest Institute & I have 2 quarters left (thank God)! My story may sound meanial to some but it really really pissed me off. So I posted on the Everest website that the school sucked & I was pissed off at how I was being treated. Well as you will see Everest hired a Jon B. to "monitor" the website. He sure was friendly at first, boy did he want to help me solve my issue, I was impressed! How naive I can be and at 34 I am pathetic! Lesson learned though! I will send all that I can hopefully in the proper order of events. Nonetheless PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE research before you choose this school! They really are out to get just your money! My best advice is to go to your local community college. And finally if you do run into problems during or after attending...and God forbid you speak the truth...they will ban you from the website or erase your comments altogether! Good Luck & God Bless:
Hi Jon, I will tell you all. Wed. Sept. 1st I woke up not feeling well. I have a 12:00 class only at the East campus in Rochester, NY. After taking some Milk of Magnesia I decided to give it a go & attempt class. It's the only one I have on Wednesdays. Half way to school I had to "use the facilities" & just prayed I would get to school on time! When I got to school I was stopped at the 2nd door by the security guard. Mind you, I thought he put his hands on me! He said I can't let you in the building & I said excuse me...why? He said bc you are wearing flip-flops. Ohh I said...but I don't have a lab class so I'm all set! He said it didn't matter that I had to have sneakers on. (I knew about the new dress code at Everest...that if u r in Medical Assisting you have to wear your scrubs even if you don't have a lab class), I didn't know they were enforcing a shoe policy as well & said as much. Well, the se curity guard looked at me & said why don't we ask your fellow classmates what they think I should let you do? See, there were 2 girls standing to the left of the entrance door in front if Jim Teales office (he is the dean of the East campus). Now not only were these girls not my fellow classmates...I had never seen them before. The one girl said I should be let in cause it sounded like I reAlly didn't know about the new rule but make sure I wore sneakers the next time, & the other girl said I should be let in too bc she thought I didn't know the new rule too, but that be sure that next time I wore my sneakers. The security guard said ok I am going to let you go in today bc I believe you didn't know the new policy but also bc I have never seen you b4 you must be new. I turned to him & said Sir...I have been coming here for 2 years now! Well I've never seen you b4 was again his response. I walked away & as I did he shouted remember at me while pointing his finger at me. Needless to say I used the facilities spoke with my teacher & left. When I got home I called the school to complain..1. bc I truly believed he had put his hands on me which is uncalled for & 2. he involved 2 otther students for no reason when it was none of their business. I told the receptionist a short story of what happened & was directed to the Presidents secretary Karen. After speaking with her (she was extremely helpful & concerned for my well-being), she told me she would call me back ASAP. Two hours went by so I called her back & left a voice message. Another hour & half I decided to go a different route, so I called & got Christine who was answering the phones. I asked to be directed to the East Campus which she said she didn't think they were answering over there but she put me through anyway. When no one answered I hit 0 & got redirected back to her. I said can I have Mary Hodges please to which her response was...if you wanted her in the 1st place why didn't you just ask? Let me transfer you...click! (I want to know if phone conversations r recorded so someone can listen to how rude she was to me)! So Mary Hodges answered & I told her my story. I told her I needed to know if I should get a lawyer bc my step-father is (acctually he's retired but I was so upset I kept saying is) a parole officer for Irondequoit & he told me to call the police bc no one should have touched me. Mary said no let's try to settle this 1st. She said she was going to talk to the appropriate people & she didn't know how long it would be before someone returned my call, but she would get back to me too. Within 5 minutes I received a call. I said hello...and it was Jim Teale the dean of the East campus. He said Kim I'm Jim Teale & Karen the Presidents secretary told me you neede to ospeak to me right away, what's goin on? I told him & as I was he kept making smart ### remarks like...well that doesn't sound right...that doesn't sound like him...& when I got to telling him about the police he said fine call the police very sarcastically & I literally lost it Jon! I was thinking r u kidding me right now! I said who the ### do you think your talking to? Jim said excuse me & I said you don't know who you are dealing with buddy! I really don't remember much after that I know I calmed down bc he said he would review the tape of the guard to see if he touched me. I forgot to say that I also told him if he were to put the 2 girls standing at his door in front of me I would not recognize them, hr still said 2 minutes later or less well who are the girls. I thought REALLY...Really I just got done telling you I would not recognize them I have never seen them before, I felt like he wasn't listening to me! So he said he would talk to the guard, the girlks, & review the tape. On Wednesday the 8th of September I had 12:00 class as usual, however we had to do a survey for the school so when i finished since some of my classmates weren't done yet I went & saw Mary. Oh yeah I forgot when I got off the phone with Jim Teale I called Corinthian Colleges & spoke with Dean bc I could not believe how Jim had spoken to me & reacted. Dean told me to write everything down & give a copy to Mary Hodges ASAP. I gave Mary Hodges my statement on Weds. Sept. 8th 2010. We talked & I told her how I felt about Jim & that he had upset me sooooo bad that I had "dropped the f bomb" on him! Mary said I couldn't do that but what was done was done & I told her he had REALLY upset me! She went & found Jim Teale & they came to Mary Hodges office together where I was waiting. When Jim Teale came into the room he was very loud & obnoxious sounding to me, Kim he boomed I'm Jim Teale & we spoke last Wedn. Sept.1 2010. Jon, he sat down & we looked each other dead in the eyes. He did start insulting me bc he said something about me cursing at him on the phone, but it sounded threatening to me. I don't think he knew I had told Mary Hodges that I had sworn at him. Like I said his demeanor & attitude matched how he spoke to me over the phone so I was again upset. He told me he reviewed the tape & that the security guard did not at any time touch me, which I responded to well...I really thought he did! I do know this much he was in my personal space...a little too close for comfort...know what I mean? And then Jim Teale said he spoke with the two girls outside his door at the time & that both girls said they just offerred their opinion. My response to that was they were lying & that the security guard had specifically asked them what he thought they should let him do to me. Jim Teale said there was no way to prove it bc there was no audio on the tape. They asked me what they could do to remedy the situation & I asked to speak with the security guard. So, they brought him into Mary Hodges office with Mary Hodges, Jim Teale, & myself present. He sat across from me at the desk. I asked him if he remembered me & if he remembered stopping me from entering the building on Wedn. Sept. 01, 2010 bc I had flip-flops on. He replied vaguely, to which I responded vaguely you remember me or the situation, to which he said both. I found this hard to believe if Jim had questioned him about the incident already. Anyway, I told him I would refresh his memory & so I began recalling the details. He interrupted me when I told him that the 1st girl said to let me in, to which he said I did let you go...I said can I finish...he waved his hands & started raising his voice & said but I did let you in! Again I asked him if I could finish talking, I said there;s more though! I said yes you did let me go only after you heard the other girl say to let me go too. But you also said you thought I was new & you had never seen me before, which Jim Teale said to me yyou can't pin him for that he's new here. In fact Jim Teale said it twice to me, maybe even 3 times, which I couldn't comprehend bc the security guard had told me he had never seen me b4 as though he had been working at Everest for years, when he stopped me. So, I said then why did you say that to me bc I told you I have been here for 2 years? The security guard told me that he had no idea the girls were not my classmates & that I had never seen them b4. he said he trys to make friends with the students. (My thoughts on this is REALLY...REALLY...c'mon is that in your job description, but I kept my mouth shut). He said that he was oking around with me that day & that I obviously didn't see that, & he said he was sorry, he said it was his "bad" several times to me. He also said that everything I had reiterated back to him was true up to where I said he pointed his finger at me & shouted remember. my response ti him was ok...r u vaguely sure or what, to which he said what, and I again repeated my question of r u vaguely sure you recall it that way? He looked very sheepishly at me, which made me wonder if he was told to say certain things to me, & it may have backfired on him. I was suspicious. Jim Teale then said Kim what can we do to resolve this & I told them I wanted to see the tape but then again if there was no audio what good would that do me. I also said I felt like I was backed into a corner bc according to Jim Teale he had spoken to both girls & they had the same story. i told them the two girls were lying but who would believe me. I do know that I should have asked to speak with the girls but by this point I was REALLY upset & angry so I looked at the security guard & said dont look at me don't speak to me nothing...& picked up my books & left. As I did the security guards mouth was agape & Jim Teale was shouting literally shouting...thanks Kim he repeated it thanks Kim...thanks after that the door had shut! His attitude stinks, i feel like he was mocking me! All around Jon I am not happy with how I was treated, I think the security guard was told what to say in Jim Teales private quarters. Mary Hodges is the only one who has been sympathetic towards me during all of this! In fact I was asked what could be done & I said get rid of the security guard & Jim Teale had said to me he never touched you so I WILL NOT fire him. As I said b4 I did not verbally say anything but the security guard was definitely in my personal space & made me feel extremely uncomfortable which can probably be seen on the tape. Soooo Jon thats it, there you go. When I got home yesterday I called Dean & left him a message at Corinthian Colleges to complain about Jim Teale but I have yet to hear back from him. Thank you for your time Kim Martinez! This was Jon B.'s reply:
Hi Kim, this is Jon from Everest's Campus Support Center. I saw your comment on our Page and was hoping you could give me as many details as possible on your situation. Can you give me a chronological breakdown of what's happened and the names of the people involved? I'm going to do what I can to help you here; hopefully, I'll be able to speed up the response process as well. :)
Then a girl Jocelyn contacted me:
look up Everest C Reseda on facebook! they have alot info on Everest shady ways! I fowarded it to Jon B. for answers bc I was really concerned! Jon B. responded by telling me to take it with a grain of salt that's it (unfortunately I deleted that e-mail but verbatum that was his words)!
Sooo then I received an e-mail which Everest deleted that told me Jon B. would not help me out here is what I was able to save & this is what I forwarded to Jon B.:
I appreciate your help & concern 4 me, however quite a number of people have sent me links & comments regarding how they too were treated poorly after graduation. So much so that it really causes concern from both myself & my husband who is not real happy right now that I am receiving this kind of feedback! And for your comment to me about taking these comments with a grain of salt...why would you say that to me? Rather than downtalk the girl Mara you just said she;s trouble. You did no kind of satisfactory explaining to me convincing me I should ignore her! In fact she is coinvincing me of the bad things about Everest! Don't pawn me off to Career Services...like Mara claims you do here
Mara BossLadii Lopez Jon B. is NOT going to help you. He is going to send you in circles just like the rest of the paid staff of CCi. Call your local senators and congressmans and petition for regulation for the for profit sector! NO MORE GOVERNMENT MONEY FOR THESE CORPORATE PIGS! THEY THRIVE OFF YOUR LOANS!
Finish what you started! If you saw my posting & felt obliged to reply to it, then you should care enough to see it through to the end, otherwise I take it as you are someone they hired to deter people from the what they want...THE TRUTH! And as for your comment about doing the research myself that was not appreciated bc I typed in the address EXACTLY as she put it & bam there it was. I am not a child, I am a 34 year old GROWN woman who is VERY VERY VERY concerned about her decision to choosing the school she did to better her life & career! I should NOT be treated like anything but with the upmost respect bc of the way my "situation" has been 1. handled & 2. Those people who treated me disrespectfully!
He didn't answer me so I sent him this too:

For-Profit Colleges Investigated for Fraud
As reported in the New York Times, a recent and disturbing trend in "higher education" shows a large number of students being scammed by for-profit colleges and trade schools. Kershaw, Cutter & Ratinoff, a civil justice law firm located in Sacramento, California, has been helping students fight back.

Still nothing so I sent this e-mail sent from a student to me:

go to www.StopEverestUniversity.com to find out more information.
Yeah, I was escorted off campus when i was there asking about the mishandling of my student funds. I guess the investigation by the Government should be taken with a grain of salt too. But then hell if my job was in jeapordy I would tell people that too.. LOL (NOT!...I am a journalist so I tend to find and report the truth) oh I have gotten some nasty emails since I posted on their FB asking questions about. One from some chic who has no clue how to read (or write for that fact).
Why were Maras comments deleted she was just stating her opinion? It just makes me more wary!
Well like a dumb bum I deleted his response that came 4 days later & I found out the school closed my case without discussing it with me! They felt the dean didn't owe me an apology! This is a website for anyone wh is having problems with this terrible place: :www.StopEverestUniversity.com Gool luck everyone I pray your outcome is better than mine :)

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Everest Must Go Down

Hi my name isn't really Stuart but that's not why I'm really here. I contacted Everest re: their Admistrative Assistant program. The recruiter I spoke to was really nice and enthusiastic. This program included everything I wanted to learn, including Microsoft office programs. The price? 14k! $14, 000! She was very convincing in telling me how much cheaper that is in comparison to spending tons of money at a University. I was excited and took a little time to think about it. But then I read some reviews on Everest and found that the reviews are mostly negative. (Please google) I did more research...

Everest is not an accredited school. (Check US Dept of Education or Google for info on the importance of accrediation)

Secondly, I found the same program at a local, accredited Community College. They offer an administraive assistant certificate. A certificate allows a student to take only classes that pertain to the degree. It's a faster process, and really for someone who is looking to get into a career quickly.. This program offres the same classes as Everest's program, incl businss courses, accounting, and all of Microsoft Offices. Their price? $26.00 per unit. The cert is 35 units total, for a grand price of $910. And of course, there are fees such as health, for which I paid $24, parking passes, and books. But even with the price of books I will be paying nowhere near $14, 000.

My advise...Everest is a school for those looking to take career-oriented classes, and get through them in a shorter time frame. Most community colleges offer this option as well via certificats or AA degrees, so it would be a good idea to start there first.

I'm on a mission to bring Everest down lol. Everest is run by a corporate machine out to make money, masked by over enthusiastic admission reps and convincing commericals. I do not support them. I was even going to apply for a job with them until I found more info. I would never want to be apart of an organization like that.

For those complaining about Everest's promises to find a job...I've been applying and searching for a new job for awhile. It's going to be tough, and no school has magical job placement powers. The job market is very competitive right now, and you'll more than likely have to go at it alone. If anything, you should be more corcerned about the fact that the Everest "powers that be" care more about making thier pockets fat than giving students a quality education. That's not to say that some of the classes are not of quality, but if some of the programs they offer can be done for cheaper at an accredited school I think someone that cared about me would tell me that.

I attended this ###-hole when it was called CDI. All of these private "schools" are not really schools. They are self-accredited businesses out to turn a profit. They are not respected in the marketplace like traditional post secondary schools are and the quality of their "programs" are sub-par. They should stop comparing themselves to traditional Universities and Colleges as they are not even in the same galaxy. They try to portay themselves as some form of alternative to proper schooling yet if you attend a REAL University you will notice the night and day difference between the two.

They prey on peoples insecurities and desperation. If you are just out to get a fast-food education and be able to have cheap bragging rights with your friends and family ala, "I got myself a college edjumacation!" then attend a private college. If you want a Degree or Diploma with value; one that will probably land you a respectable job, then go to a tradiational school.

And no. Traditional colleges DO NOT accept the basic, high-school level "credits" from private/career colleges and I do not blame them.

Hi Stuart, I believe everything that you said about Everest is the whole truth. I am talking with a lawyer to file a suit against the school but I need around 20 students who were wronged also. I hope people reach out and join so we can stop these fraudulant schools from pocketing our money!

Hi Stuart,

For sake of argument, I'll be Stuart 2. I couldn't agree with you more. Everest and Corinthian Colleges must go down. One point I might disagree with is that at least the Phoenix Campuses are Accretitted with the NCA Higher Learning Commission in Chicago, albeit the Phoenix Campuses are on Probation with that organization. You might find more information search the Higher Learning Commission, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (the official name). If you were involved in their Paralegal Program, you might also look at the American Bar Association Standing Committee of Legal Assostants in Chicago for information they may have. Finally, each campus is licensed through the state in which they are located, for example, here in Arizona the campuses are licensed through the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education and I am certain your local licensing agency has a wealth of information you might find helpful.

If, at the end of the day, you find that you cannot reach resolve of your issues and are desirous of gaining their undivided attention, you may write a letter addressed to Jack D. Mossimino, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, Corinthian Colleges, Incorporated, 6 Hutton Centre Drive, Suite 400, Santa Ana, California 92707. Besure to "CC" copies of your correspondence to the Higher Learning Commission, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, 230 South LaSalle Street, Suite 7-500, Chicago, Illinois [protected] and to your local licensing organization. You might, if you really want to stir it up, include copies of your communications to Peter Waller, Chief Executive Officer and Matthew Ouimet, Chief Operating Officer of Corinthian Colleges at the above referenced CCI address, also remember to include a copy being sent to the President and/or Dean of your local campus. Somehow, the alleged powers that be get moving real quick when the realize you just might have a legitimate complaints and cost them even more scrutiny by the watchdogs over them. If all else fails, do what the guy on the People's Court says: "Don't take matters into your own hands...take them to court." I am and I expect to win. Good luck!

Hi i understand i am currently enrolled in everest for a career as PCT patient care technician. I was extremely happy when i started only to be dissapointed by the end. the only reason im still with it is because it costs $15000! All that i did in the class and lab includin books &uniform really dont add up to 15 grand! This course is really just a CNA course but a fancier name. Most medical professionals from what im seeing dont know what that is. Me and my other classmates are concerned because all they are helpin are pharmacy tech & medical assistants. everything else is whatever. The career services dept. has bad attitutes, dont call you and say do things ahead of time when they LOOSE your information (with ssn# and all) all the time, and your in their office refilling out the same paperwork u filled out 2 weeks prior for the 3rd time. they send you on externships that are about an 1hr away from where u live, without you knowing, and to top that off... They don't check these places out in person! they meet with the individuals or talk to them over the phone, but as far as checking the place out to see if its legit & safe. Thats the failing part! Everest really does need to get it together. Im going to a community college to try for my RN i should've did this in the begining. Shame on me. If you attend after reading this then shame on you!

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute LIES, FRAUD CONTRACT, $$$, RACIAL PROFILING

College or Used Car lot peddling degrees. Like myself and so many others who have fallen victim to these money hungry franchises aka "FOR PROFIT COLLEGES, " it feels hopeless. Student loans are now up to $40, 000, I had to decline a pre-med opportunity because I just found out none of my credits from Everest will transfer to any college I was told they would transfer to. When I called the college to acquire as to why I was deceived, I was put on hold, sent to various voicemails and had nobody help or return a phone call to an Alumni. The program was a waste of 2 years and for being a single young mother, I don't have 2 years to just throw away. Now I have to start my education over again somewhere else to get to where I wanted to be. DON"T BE THEIR NEXT SUCKER!

I have loads of info and evidence to back up every bad word someone has said of that fine example or "HIGHER EDUCATION."

Save yourself the hassle and go to a real college where people actually give a damn about "THE AMERICAN DREAM AND BATTLING ADVERSITY TO BETTER YOUR LIFE." Everest College only wants your Signature and your money then they'll boot you to the side like yesterday's trash. They prey on hard working Americans, minorities, single moms, and the under-advantaged. Just watch their commercials. Who are they depicting? Who do they target? All your evidence is right in front of you. WATCH PBS.ORG AIRED ON MAY 4TH, 2010. FRONTLINE NEWS: COLLEGE INC.

HOW MUCH ARE YOU WILLING TO PAY FOR YOUR EDUCATION?...PROBABLY NOT YOUR ENTIRE LIFE!

I'M VERY INTERESTED IN ANY FEEDBACK OR ANYONE ELSE WHO CAN OFFER THEIR STATEMENT. I HAVE MORE INFO INCL. VOICE RECORDINGS, OTHER STATEMENTS, LETTERS, AND FACTS. [protected]@yahoo.com

You sure have a lot of nerve. You must've recieved your STATE UNIVERSITY degree in the field of being a complete jerk. Congrats cause it looks like you've aced it. Don't have TV and still don't. I like to read. I have the internet now, but didn't at the time, no money for that sort of thing. I was very young and naive and really don't think I have to explain myself any further to you. It's not hard to get played when these For Profit propietary schools make it their duty to trick people into signing up with them. So you can take your harsh comments and shove them where the sun doesn't shine. It's called not being handed your entire life and opportunity on a silver platter. You have to learn from it. Anymore ridiculous comments from you and I will turn you into the website as harassment. You think I'm a ### and I think your a total idiot so let's leave it at that.

Yes I will be doing a lot of research from now on because of this horrible "College Experience." You are absolutely correct. DO YOUR RESEARCH! It was 4 years ago and I was working 2 jobs and trying to work my way through an ugly divorce. I didn't have the internet or TV so research resources were limtied. But now I know better and that is about all I can thank them for. I have no idea how this company still thrives considering all the awful complaints about them.

I don't have TV, so I wasn't able to see the cheesy commercials. So you saying anyone is a ### who went there is exactly what an ignorant idiot would say. I met some very smart people at Everest who were single moms, or moms that needed to help out with finances, or people who wanted another chance to put themselves back on track. Yeah, there are idiots at every school, so for you to single us out as ###s is completely something a total idiot who has no heart would say. Hell, you probably work for them. I absolutley resent your comment and hope you consider an apology because naive and trusting is all I'm guilty for in this case.

I was taken in by those ppl back in 2003, I didn't have Internet, and the commercials weren't like today's are, I was paying them every month, and took out loans and federal assistance. They lied even after I signed the paperwork. If you didn't pay your monthly fees, they would pull you out of class and let everyone know why. I worked two jobs and school full-time, yah I was duped, but I contacted BBB and a law firm that is doing a class action suit in Dallas. I had a 3.78 gpa and my instructors had us doing hard stuff, they had to change some of the classes because it was considered work of a college senior.

I agree with momma26, I was also naive in my decision to do online college. I did
do some research and felt like FMU would be a good option, FMU is now Everest.
I chose online college because I could do this at home and work full time. I was made promises that were not true including what my payments would be once I had completed the program. After a year I had a hardship and at that point things went bad quick. Long story short I am going to lose what little I have because I was ignorant to
the college process and the dollar amount of the loan repayments. I have been charged 21, 000 for one year in a college program that is not taken seriously by anyone. I wish I would of read these post 2 years ago.

Private "schools" are nothing more than profit-driven businesses. Their primary concern is making their shareholders happy and NOT providing quality, results-driven education for their CUSTOMERS.

Private schools are NATIONALLY accredited NOT regionally accredited and to sum it it, National accr. means absolutely nothing in the REAL world of education. No private school credits transfer to ANY traditional University or College as the course content and quality of material are TOTALLY different. Any individual posting on the internet who says that a traditional University accepted their private/career/tech. college credits is LYING!

The amount of negative and derogatory posts about these private schools on the net is astounding. It proves that they are nothing more than a sham. It truly is funny that people go to these places to better themselves only to finish at a place way worse off then when they first started; In massive debt and desperate to find a job!

I was about to go to Everest online in florida but I found out they are not regionally accredited so your credits won"t transfer and be recognized by any college and if you do graduate from there your degree is not accepted by any employer.

I feel like anytime you do something you should do research regardless of how full proof it looks. I've never considered going to the school or anything but I see the commercials damn near everyday and I was curious and wanted to know if there was really any truth to them. So I just typed in everest scam into google and I've seen like a million (just made that number up) people complain about how it's a straight scam. All the single mothers out there and anyone else considering this college just do some reasearch and you will clearly see that it's a scam! The easiest choice is not always the best.

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Fraudulence

I started attending Everest in October of 2009. I completed classes in May 2010. I am 33 years old.

I am currently doing my externship.

First I want to say that I have never been late. I had perfect attendance. I maintained a 97 percent GPA and was involved in their Ambassador program.

The first externship I was assigned to was a total joke. Like I kept waiting for a crew to pop up and tell me I was on Candid Camera.

Long story short:

The doctor, who was not actually a doctor, but a PA, apparently showed up whenever she damn well pleased. I was told she had been up to 2 hours late.

No one else had a key to the office, meaning that they can't do anything until she gets there. They also didn't get paid for the time they spent there, when she wasn't present. Whenever she decides to show up is when people start getting paid. She makes no effort to tell people in advance what will be expected of them.

They were using white out on their paperwork, which is a no-no in medical offices and much of their charting was illegible.

The sole, existing employee was a 19 year old kid who does not have a phlebotomist's license and who is not OSHA or HIPAA certified, but is performing venipunctures and injections on patients. He had no idea how to take blood pressure manually. The doctor apparently just showed him how to do these things.

Blood and urine specimens were being stored in the same fridge with food and drink. Someone put a vaccutainer in the centrifuge, with a loose lid. There was plasma all over the counter.

I got a new site, per my own request, mostly because I didn’t want to work somewhere that was breaking so many laws, lest I somehow become implicated in them. I was reassigned to an organization that provides vaccinations, health screenings and various other services, to large companies.

The building I’m doing my externship in is not used to see patients, despite having several perfectly good exam rooms. Patients occasionally come there for routine blood work. But it is rare. It is actually a business office for an organization that does lab work, offers vaccines and provides health screenings for employees of large corporations.

Eight or so months ago, I let some overly enthusiastic admissions rep talk me into training to become a medical assistant. If I could go back in time, knowing what I know now, I would not attend this school. I wish I had just gone back to college to finish my real degree, instead of putting myself even further in debt with this useless ###. They act like you need to sign up as soon as possible and you can't wait. They even do the loan information right then and there. That should have been a tip-off, that their priorities lie in making money and not actually educating or helping others procure employment.

The product that I thought I was buying from Everest in no way resembles what I ended up with. I did everything they said to do, showed up every day, did my work and whatnot. They make it sound so much better than it really is.

When the time comes, they are scrambling and desperate to provide their students with externships, when there aren’t enough to go around, and only a small percentage of them will have students doing anything remotely similar to what they learned at school.

And most of those sites, were they to hire you, will only pay you minimum wage anyway. I could have gotten a minimum wage job WITHOUT spending 7 months at Everest. Someone please tell me why I did this again? Because I can’t remember.

What irks me is how hard the admissions reps try to sell it. They embellish your odds of getting a better job. The stats I heard about this place got more a more dire, the longer I'd been in the school. My admissions rep told me that the chances of job placement were almost ninety percent. Slowly that number got smaller and smaller. A few months later, I find out that it's closer to 25, and that most of those people obtained their jobs on their own, without the assistance of Everest.

They tell you that you're guaranteed an extern site. But slowly that evolves into them encouraging you to go and find your own site, despite not having any real connections or resources available to us, to do just that.

When I dared to complain about my second site, they tried very hard to make me feel like I was the one with the problem, despite all the evidence to the contrary. I would even go so far as to call it brainwashing. We are lucky apparently, that they help us at all. Because apparently fifteen grand isn't enough to compensate them for their trouble.

I was told that they were going to drop me, if I didn’t stop whining, because being a medical assistant means having to do things like cleaning toilets and dusting furniture. None of which were we informed about duing our seven mods. Now I understand people needing a ride home. But I don't have an extra helmet anyway.

I actually don’t have a problem with doing that type of stuff. I just assumed that they would be in addition to my main reason for being there, which would be something medical in nature. It never occurred to me that my main purpose for being there was to.

Here’s what admissions reps need to be telling prospective students.

1. Medical assisting CAN pay up to $25 an hour. But the chances of that are very rare.

2. It’s more likely that you’ll be making $8 an hour instead, which is barely enough to live off of, when you’re attempting to pay back your loans.

3. Medical assistants basically exist to do all the grunt work, so the doctors and nurses don’t have to.

4. One is not intended to have a real career as a medical assistant. It’s actually considered a stepping stone to becoming an LVN, which of course you will do through Everest college, because the more money you drop there, the better.

4. Medical assistants will probably be doing very little that is medical in nature.

5. Medical assistants are likely to be glorified janitors, spending their time sweeping, mopping, cleaning toilets, watering plants, feeding the fish, dusting, taking out the trash, doing the doctor’s dishes.

6. Everest will provide you with an extern site. But the truth is, if you want a decent one, you’ll have to go out and find it yourself.

7. Everest will try to help you find a job, once you graduate. But the truth is, the chances of you being hired anywhere are only about 25 percent or less.

8. You can get a job just as easily without going to Everest, as you can if you DO go to Everest.

9. Everest will do as little as they think they can get away with.

Bottom line. I pray to God I get a job somehow. I cannot believe I fell for such a scam.

I went to the "school" back when it was called CDI and before that, the Toronto School of Business. Yes, that many name changes, and all in the span of like, 6 years! My experience in regards to their "stats" was similar, when they are trying to enroll you with their little sales pitches, the placement rates are excessively high, I was also told they had "job scouts" who came to the school from corporations to scoop up the "best grads", I was told that they were linked to specific employers who exclusively hired everest grads and I was given examples of jobs I could apply for at 60K a year(all turned out to be complete and total BS!) Eventually as the program progressed the expectations dropped and little hints of what we could really expect were dropped. Some of the instructors asked students what they wanted to do after graduation and asked us if we wanted to go back to school ?! We were confused...wasn' this enough?! Weren't they linked to employers?...Why ask that question?! As the "modules" progressed we realized how sub-par the course work was and that the general public was not fooled by this place. Their reputation was horrible and the chances of getting hired with one of these pseudo-diplomas were extremely slim. The morale was so low at this place...both students and instructors. Strange thing is that, they hired ex students to instruct some of the classes...how lame! I had to fight to get my diploma from them as they claimed I still had to complete some useless module on resume construction that I did complete! I contacted them for a transcript recently of all those illustrious and NON TRANFERRABLE credits and they had no records of me ever being there. I guess their name changes coincide with the loss of transcripts! Very professional! I no longer put this place on my resume as I feel it is a drawback and I am embarrassed of ever have been there. Avoid at all costs...all you get is massive debt, a useless diploma and a blow to your ego.

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Poor education

i was about to graduate from everest university online when i started receiving letters claiming i owe 7000 dollars, this soon balooned to 13000 dollars, The institution is a joke from the administration to even the VA concillors Nobody cares, they only care about their slaries, keeping more and more students in debt while profiting themseves,
As i type this i have been kicked out of class and deregistered after being denied a transfer of my credits to Georgia Tech, a real school. Folks attending everest is like going to Nazi school, what they dream is what they teach, they have mis aligned coarses, even teaches find it hard to teach. can you imagine wrong book in a practical class. pages are too few in the book! that is everest!.
there is a dirty guy in government helping these idiots steal from the government. none and i repeat none of the administration in Everest university online is a true scholar! they all bought their degrees or were awarded them through experience. the desire to teach and make sure the students learn are too low to none.
MONEY counts at EVEREST.
investers are the target next, you watch.
i will be suing the university for many allegations including Racial profiling, theft by deception from the government no one occassion but four occassions, after the ABC presentation tonight that ended at 9.00 p.m Eastern on this 4 th day of may 2010.

Its time we all that have suffered Loss to demand justice.
Change has come and Yes We can!

3-24-11 I was issued a refund check because I was told that I had a zero balance and they could not hold on to the check for more than 14 days.
4-10-11 I withdrew from Everest University Online after being transferred to numerous student advisors and financial aid representatives.
5-4-11 I was going to re-enroll with Everest to give them a second chance however I could not have been more wrong because my re-enrollment application did not go through and I tried to get ahold of my re-entry advisor much to my surprise he was nowhere to be found.
5-16-11 I get a letter stating that I owe $1236.00 for Ineligible Funds for the [protected] Winter Term after numerous phone calls and being transferred, and explaining my situation truth is Everest does care not about their Students however about their MONEY... The Refunds that the school states went back to the lender on 5-5-11 were never received. I have 6-12 weeks from 5-5-11 to see if the refunds post to the lender if not then the balance will become void as per the Lender. Not to mention that the school backdated my re-enrollment for the BA in Criminal Justice to 2009 which the application for re-enrollment was never processed although it is mentioned on my Student Ledger. If I only would have done the research first about this school and the complaints. The School was formerly known as: Florida Metropolitan; Bryman University and is now Everest University Online. I am in debt with the student loans just from Everest for over $35, 000. Everest can also take more than what they need from Financial Aid which I found out through my lender. For the price that I have paid meaning credit report that is damaged because of the student loans I should have gone to a community college which is cheaper and also quality education. This was my experience with Everest University Online

I forgot to mention, even American Military University accepts credit by examination. But I am convinced there is SOME Excelsior degree you can do quickly and get over with. You might consider Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies (no major), if you have at least 60 liberal arts credits (liberal arts include non-professional humanities, social sciences and sciences).

I have not been to Everest University. However I know Georgia Tech is not the most liberal regarding transfer policies (they do not always like or accept online credits, even if these credits are taken at non-profit, state schools, and they don't accept CLEP exams). You are more likely to be able to transfer your Everest University credits to Excelsior College or Charter Oak State College, and take an online capstone class with them and maybe a couple of CLEP, DSST or Excelsior exams, finishing your Bachelors degree in comparatively very little time and at no great cost at all. Since you posted this a year ago, it is possible you already transferred somewhere else. If it was Georgia Tech, I am guessing you did not make much progress on your Bachelors degree. You can leave Georgia Tech, and join Excelsior College or Charter Oak State College if you are tired of school by now. I know these two colleges (Charter Oak State College and Excelsior College) will accept any college credit that is regionally accredited, and any amount of credit by examination (CLEP, DSST, or Excelsior College examinations), just needing 3-6 semester credits to be taken online with them. They accept everybody with a GED or high school diploma, so they will certainly accept you. Please explore these two options, they might be perfect for you and have you get over with your Bachelor's degree quickly.

Also, American Military University accepts a maximum 90 transfer semester credits towards a Bachelors degree. If they have a program in the area you are interested in, consider trying to transfer all your credits to them and doing 30 credits more online, at the cost of $250 per semester credit including BOOK COST PER COURSE.

I am sure that of the places I mentioned, at least Excelsior College and Charter Oak State College will help you complete your degree faster and relieve some of your pain. Again, Georgia Tech is not a good option right now for you since they will never accept your Everest credit, but I am sure at least Excelsior College and Charter Oak State College will accept all of it, and I have a hunch American Military University will too (if you are lucky, AMU will accept 90 semester credits from Everest). Oh yes, all colleges are regionally accredited and will be cheaper for degree completion than Georgia Tech, factoring in the benefits of transfer and credit by examination for Charter Oak State College and Excelsior College specifically; and for American Military University specifically - the cost of books included in the tuition (and like I mentioned, it is very likely American Military University will accept your transfer credit, but you need to ask them to be sure).

So don't pity yourself, finish your degree fast, then see if you can get a better (and cheaper) Master's elsewhere.

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Education and Price

Everest College is one of the worst college that I know and should be avoided. Specially the one in Mississauga, Ontario.

During the period I started this program of Network Administrator (IT) At Everest College
I came to the conclusion that if it wasn't because I have experience in the field I would have not completed the courses successfully. Why is that? because the college falsely advertise that teachers will be side by side giving classes when in reality you have to teach yourself. These are self taught courses where you buy a book and you read it by yourself and you teach yourself, and to know that you pay thousand of dollars for this program is ridiculus and totally an abuse. The only thing the college give you is testing and a computer to work.

With a complete list of all the books needed for the program, I would have studied in my house and save the rest of trouble, tuition, driving gas, food, etc.
And that is exactly what I did, before the end of the program I quit cause I have 3 children and couldn't afford to travel and with 10, 000 owing to my line of credit because I couldn't work and study at the same time, I left the college and completed the courses on my own, got my certifications. I paid the test on my own thru anothe institution.

However Everest College called me for a whole year cause I own them $1000 because I signed an bunch of papers that they always do when you first start, they after that sent the bill to collection, they called me for 1 year too and here I am finally free cause I never paid any more cent to Everest college and I never will, they are bunch of losers. I don't care about my credit that for sure they screwed up. I am free from Everest college and that is what matter! Have my house, my children, my car and my freedom from Everest college the screwers!

I was going to the school and that the payments per month for school is insane like 500 and its 14000 for business program and that there was moments that i could not afford some of the books because there were so expensive. Id almost got kicked out of the school cause i got sick. There was point that i had meltdown and id failed 3 courses and that i was put on prohibition and there was people cheating within the school and nothing happens. I dont understand that but i have a good average but i still going to humber college part time cause that school is recognized more than everest. There was promises made that everest was a better school but there was times that i did not have the support i need except for my teacher olga and my conseller nuno but some of my teachers are good but i had one bad professor.

Been there stuck with the debt, I also went to the Mississauga campus, I completed dental assisting level I. I have a diploma and now I'm working in a factory because the school never helped me out 2 interviews don't count. I was lucky enough that the dental office on the ground floor needed someone for about 2 months cause their assistant went on vacation. You would think having that on my resume should help. NOPE!

THIS IS THR WORST SCHOOL EVER! DONT EVER GO AND GIVE THEM YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!

Ok, I have read several posts about Everest. I am not impressed with this school. I was considering online education with them but after reading...no way. I don't want to waste money on a school that may or may not help me. I have read only one p0sitive review. One positive is not enough to convince me to enroll here. Thanks for posting.

So JOIN the club they have thousand of thousand students every year that they enroll into their [censor] of a school file that lawsuit buddy and on top of that make sure you have every single doucment and email they ever sent you it will work for you . ANd many students enroll in other states not knowing that if they graudate from there school employers in there state wont hire them because of their degree from Everest and if Everest course numbering oes not match your states system then forget transfering those credits to another college I mean really just go to your local college or the next city college that is closet becasue now many colleges are updating meaning more degrees offere distance learning and cheaper for you

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Sorely Mislead

My name is Bill,
I attended Everest College to take Network Administration. I'm 43 years of age and i was wanting to really make something of myself. I was so excited when they were able to get my OSSAP all set up for me and all, and they seemed so helpful and friendly. Then the hell started.
I was having some trouble with a couple things that i just couldn't get. When i asked the Teacher for help, he gave me the wrong answers, time after time. This went on for four days. I felt out of place because it was he that was supposed to have all the answers. I got so upset because it caused me to fall behind. This made my days hard and troubled. I then got sick, submitted my letters, and was "Dismissed" for lack of attendance. TRhey actually never dismessed me, but OSSAP refused to cover the second part of my tuition because of not following the standards. If the letters were submitted like they should have been, OSSAP would have had no problem supplying me the second wave of money. I got really burned!
They have no idea what this meaned to me. At my age, its not easy getting funding. I borrowed money from the government, over 6000 dollars for this course that i HAVE TO pay back, and i got absolutely nothing for that payment! The help was not there, they ruined my attendance for OSSAP because of thier own mistakes, and i am out of school, no better off than i was before. Now i cant get OSSAP to go to a REAL school cause Everest grabbed it in thier money hungry hands.
My view of them is, they don't care about the student, they just want to get thier money. They never cared enough about me because i was given the wrong answers several times and was shunned away.
My heart is completely broken and i am very depressed. I was literally screwed by Everest College and they know it. I have no way to ever get back the money they took to get a real education. They dont seem to even care. They ruined my life in a way and i am heart broken. I feel lost and have no idea what to do about this. I'm stuck. I really wanted this education and payed alot to Everest to get nothing but heart ache in return.

What do i do now? Where do i go? Who will listen to my truth about an evil School such as them.SHAME ON YOU EVEREST SCHOOL!SHAME ON YOU! IF I WERE A LAWYER OR HAD THE MONEY, I WOULD TAKE YOU TO COURT AND TRY TO GET MY MONEY BACK.
SHAME ON YOU!

Not sure if you read this page anymore OP, but you should talk to the Ministry of Training, and perhaps even your MPP. Like I said in another posting about this very same campus of "Everest", all these private colleges are a god damn scam that exist solely to rip people off and take as much as they can before they toss the body away to make room for another sucker. Even the so-called reputable Westervelt College is a joke.

The bright side is you have six months from your end of study period (Whenever your class would have finished) before you even have to start making payments. As well, if you qualify, you can get interest relief afterwards if you need it.

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute False advertisment

The commercials’ advertising educational opportunities at Everest are ridicules. Whether it is a technical school program or a professional allied health program- it is not easy. The commercials market towards those individuals who are working multiple jobs and raising children. The trouble is it is NOT easy- you have to study and work hard - but they don't advertise the pride of working hard. I want them to stop saying "it’s easy". Everest has already been sued in the past for false advertising job placement.
THEY ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY- THEY ARE NOT HONEST.

I don't think Everest is all that bad. Just like ANY school, the work is going to be difficult. No college is going to just hand you easy courses to get a degree quickly. I'll admit, the tuition fees are a bit costly but it's more affordable than other colleges. Anybody is going to have a difficult time completing college if they work multiple jobs and are a single parent. It isn't Everest's fault if you can't juggle everything. I know people who have gotten really great jobs after graduating from Everest. It is a for-profit school, but it doesn't mean that the diploma you receive is useless. You're still learning the same requirements needed for the program you choose. I'm going for Accounting. My math isn't invalid or false. My grades aren't fake. Everything is legit, it's just a little more expensive than community college.

My name is Cody from Utah. I went to Everest College and graduated on the "Presidents List" and the "Deans List" practically every quarter but in the end I find that the financial "Cost" of Everest did not exactly make the "Reward" (Some dumb piece of practically useless obsolete piece of paper called a diploma which was laughed at by Dr.'s) feel worth my while, AT ALL! I damn this waste of my life and time. I wish this school would be closed down FOR GOOD because it MUCKED up my life more than any other decision that I have ever made in my ENTIRE LIFE and I want it closed so it couldn't poorly affect anyone else's life! I hope the UNITES STATES GOVERNMENT can fix this fraud issue before the public gets fed up with this waste of capital. Thank you Everest for ruining my financial life. Put that [censor] on one of your commercials, then no one would ever want to sue you for fraud, BECAUSE THEY WOULD KNOW THE TRUE SIDE OF EVEREST. Too bad AMERICA is so [censor]ing corrupt! in a true America I would be generally defended against the TYRANT EVEREST Corp. because the LAWMAKERS a.k.a. DICTATORS could understand and take SERIOUS-Just. action against FRAUD. FRAUD IS EVERYWHERE When will we have justice?

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Worst School ever

I'm writing this review wherever I can so people won't get burned like my wife did:
My wife enrolled in the Chairside dental assistant program levels I and II. During her first term I noticed a lot of strange things as she was telling me about in the classes. Having gone through university, I had a pretty good idea how most colleges run and how classes typically are structured. The first thing I noticed was that there was no syllabus. There was no time-line for what the 'teacher' was supposed to teach and when. Tests dates would be given out and would be changed at random and without notice. The testing was absurd; my wife would have finished the midterm testing and then have to write a quiz relating to stuff that she had just tested on in her midterm. The excuse the teacher gave was that she needed a certain number of marks to hand in to fulfill some sort of criteria. Sometimes the class would revolt against the teacher and ask her to postpone the test date because they felt they were not ready ON THE DAY OF THE TEST! The teacher would, without fail, always gave in. My wife is a pretty serious student when it comes to getting grades so this really bothered her. She graduated with a 90 something average along side some classmates who mathmatically could not have passed the course.

The structure is completely disorganized and they seem to pass even the most incompetent of students. My wife had signed up for the level II courses well in advance and the dates were all set. We went over seas for family stuff expecting to come back and start school 2 weeks later. 2 weeks before classes were to start, some clown decides that it would be a good idea to start class 1 week early. My wife was sent no email, no letter. Someone called the house and left a message. My sister had to call us from Canada to let us know. Needless to say, after a lot of back and forth and brush-offs, we got nowhere. My wife had to start a week late and play catch up because Everest College didn't have the proper foresight or respect for people to honour it's commitments to it's students.

In my opinion, it's all about money for them. Don't bother forking out the cash. Go to a real school and actually learn something.

I find it strange whenever there's only 1 or 2 pros within a batch of cons from people who obviously don't know each other but roughly they're complaining about the same things.

Everest targets people who are unemployed and can't find jobs. You all have seen the commercials. They make it sound like a dream come true, less time spent in the classroom, accelerated courses so you finish up in about 6 months to a year compared to attending a 2 year Associates Degree program at a community college, which is cheaper. Schools like Everest, Univ of Phoenix, DeVry, etc are ridiculously costly and when you do finish, job placement isn't guaranteed, but that's included in a by line on the commercial too.

After you make that initial call for information, you're harrassed practically everyday about enrolling and what a great opportunity they don't want you pass up. Then they want you to come in, tour the campus, maybe speak with a couple of teachers. I say teachers because these people are no way close to being college professors. A couple of years ago there was a big thing splashed all over the Internet that these schools were being investigated because the 'degrees' they awarded to their graduates didn't meet the required standards as JC, State, Univ degrees. Graduates were being turned away in interviews because they were told that their degrees weren't 'real'.

These schools are in the business of making money. They don't care if you can or cannot pay your loans back, they don't care about your current financial status. They receive money on the strength of each student they can enroll.

As for you Bubbles, you were lucky and I'm glad it worked out for you, but don't assume that people 'need to fix their own issues' otherwise, don't blame the school. Everest is responsible for their dumb, scam oriented commercials targeting people who quickly fall for the okey doke. But not everyone has the initiative to research on their own so here's a word of advise for those peeps:

Stay clear away from these schools where the cost could climb to triple the amount of a JC. Employers would hire graduates from a JC or state college BEFORE considering the graduate who came from a school where training only took 6 months to a year. The people in the commercials are ACTORS because I have a friend of a friend who is signed with an agency and does commercials and one of her acting jobs was for an Everest spot (when it was Heald).

ICDC College, I'm sure most of you seen this commercial as well with the rapper Romeo doing a hard sell about this school...he didn't even attend ICDC. He went to and graduated from UCLA but he was so convincing reading his lines that you would think there was some truth to it.

You may notice that a majority of these commercials are shown during the mornings and noontime in which people who are searching for jobs will more than likely have the TV on and a certain percentage will call one these schools and BOOM they get out the fishing line and reel you in.

THE WHOLE LEARNING EXPIERENCE WASNT like the commercial at all.It sucks, The school never had enough supplies to teach the students with, nor did the school have all the neccessary working instruments to help the student get the hands on training that is offered in the advertisement?.Also for the 17, 000 that it costs to take the dental asst.class there was never a fun exciting learning day at everest. The school kept coming up with new rules each day?Yet Failed at actually teaching me how to be a dental asst or the needs of the carreer but yet taught me how to do things in the dental office like fill a cavity "well Um doesnt the actual dentist do that?"Everest slogan is "Its a great day here at eversest" But their slogan should be"Its a RIP OFF here at Everest"

I graduated from Everest College in Ontario, California and I would say that it was a decent school. There were things I liked, and things I did not liked. The professors really did care and tried to help me whenever they could. Some of the teachers were a joke, but not all of them. Most of them were former police officers or detectives, and I was studying Criminal Justice so I did learn a lot from them. The staff always contacted me if I was absent, which was good because I knew that they really were looking out for me. I did learn a lot, and most of the work was related to Criminal Justice Systems. I lost my father while I was attending, and they were extremely understanding and sympathetic. One thing that I was not too happy about was the fact that I could not take some time off to give birth and be home with my newborn and my 3 year old. They told me that if I wanted a break, I would have to un-enroll, then enroll all over again. So, 5 days after giving birth I was back in class taking my final. Most of the classes did have an organized schedule, and we did have midterms and finals. However, in the majority of my classes I felt like I was in high school all over again. I graduated from Everest when I was 21 years old, so I was and still am young (23 now) but most of my classmates were fresh out of high school and it seemed like they just wanted to socialize instead of learn. Most of the time they would disrupt the class and the teachers would just look the other way. It wasnt really the staff, it was some of the students. But if you really apply yourself and do the work you're supposed to do, you will learn a lot. Another thing I did not like was the size of some of the classrooms. It was over crowded sometimes and not enough chairs for everyone which was ridiculous. The classrooms were always dirty too. I never had a problem with financial aid, they were always helpful. They did continue to call me and give me job leads after I graduated, but I never found a job. After about a year they stopped calling. So Everest, from my own experience, was good but it did have some bad times. I now attend Argosy University in Ontario, California for my bachelors in Psychology, and I would highly recommend this school. It has been PERFECT and it is really an amazing school. The majority of my credits did transfer over, and Everest was helpful in trying to obtain all of my documents in order to enroll at Argosy. I think if you apply yourself and work hard, you will get where you want to be. Sometimes others can affect you, but you have to take control of your OWN life and situation and make the best of it. You cannot blame others and you have to take responsibility for your own actions and decisions as well. My advice to young people trying to attend a good college is to do your research. It may be a hassle and a pain in the butt to get all the info you need, but it is worth it. This is your education and the only person who will be affected by it is YOU. Good luck everyone!

I feel you. I am in Everest right now in Tacoma, WA and it is just as bad. Now I am stuck completing a program that I am unlikely to get hired from. Yay.

I too am an Everest Graduate. Cardiology Tech from Toronto Downtown Campus. I know work full time in the nuclear cardiology lab at one of the big 5 hospitals and have had huge success. I had a clinical placement at a hospital, and soon after, got a full time job in another hospital BECAUSE of my grades and diploma from Everest College. They are NOT perfect, by far, but they are teaching what is necessary to pass their degree, plus allowed me to easily obtain licensure from Canadian and International Cardiology Society's.
Don't be so harsh, go in and prove yourself! It's all about you, your attitude, your abilities, and your dedication.
It can be done. I am proof. The best decision I made in my life.

I too am an Everest College Graduate, and I am currently working in a Hospital, and climbing the corporate ladder. Its ME that did it, with the HELP of a diploma to get my foot in the door, Cause without it, I wouldn't have even gotten the interview. So, maybe you should not bash the school, but fix your OWN issues. Good luck in your future. :) So, it depends where YOU take it. ONLY YOU CAN FIND EMPLOYMENT< BUT YOU HAVE TO DO THE LEGWORK!
