I recently received a demand for payment from America Express, more of a threat really. If I did not pay them $7500 within 3-day they would reduce my current credit significantly, thereby raising my credit to debt percentage, causing me to go the above 30% credit usage limit most financial institution track, so I can be put into a higher credit risk, and they can increase my interest rates, because now I am seen as a credit risk
This seems illegal, and smells of a class-action lawsuit.
Credit card companies should not have this privilege to reduce your credit worthiness on a whim. I have had zero late payments with them, or with any of the 11 credit cars I hold for the past 10yrs. Yet, they have demanding I pay their blood money or they raise my credit rate, again what right do they have to do this? It seems like the fox watching over the chickens. I understand they gave me a line of credit, they calculated the risk, and decided $35,000 was a good risk. I have had this line for a dew years now, again never missing a payment.
If the same company that judges your risk is the same company that provided the line of credit and makes money from you by charging you interest, seems illegal that same company can them reduce your credit and force you into a higher credit utilization, thereby firth wrecking your credit to the world.
this doesnt seem right.
Desired outcome: Stop the demands for money if you are not late on payments, stop the threats to reduce credit worthiness just so they can raise your interest rates and make more money from consumers
