At my visit the Dr today he listened to my chest and said I needed to be checked for pneumonia. The phlebotomists argued with the dr right in front of me. She said she was not getting fired for him because corporate has told them not to do that test. I asked her if she thought it was a good idea to draw my blood after she just had a fight with her boss. She said he was not her boss, she worked for AFC. Since when does the Dr on staff not make the medical calls on treatment and diagnostics? Plus, when should a patient be subject to a staff argument? Totally unprofessional. I do not fault the Dr. The test given are being done based solely on reimbursement not medical necessity. Since when does BCBS dictate my treatment? Why do you have me sign a form confirming that I will pay anything my ins does not cover if you aren't doing what is necessary? The lady later apologized but confirmed the dr was wrong. The dr and assistant argued outside of my room and I heard the whole thing. I left the office with 2 shots that I appreciate and also rxs for dellsym, ibuprofen, musinex dm, and a z pack. Other than the z pack everything is over the counter. Don't you think I took all this over the counter stuff before I came here! I have been dealing with the sickness since Thanksgiving. I have had a negative encounter with your facility and I now question the care I was given. I would like this reviewed at a corporate level. It appears you are putting society at risk if you only complete tests that are reimbursable not the medically necessary tests or providing medication that you have been told does not work.
hiring process
I recently had an interview at the Prattville, AL
clinic. The manager was 30 minutes late to the interview. I understood, things happen! Yet I did expect an apology. Did not get one. AFC has a policy that if you have any scheduling requirements at all you are only eligible for part time. People have lives and can't always work 24/7. If it is understood the manager has a life outside of work and personal responsibilities, why wouldn't it be understood other staff members do? My only requirements were that I can't work full days on Wednesday and Sunday. I told her I can work half days and I would work ever Saturday to make up for it. I was turned down because I could not make myself available for all 7 days. Disappointed.
I am making a complaint about a recent visit to your alabaster alabama facility.

I came to AFC complaining of sever nasal and chest congestion I was coughing really bad I was very nauseated I had a headache I did make them aware I had experienced chills and fever. My name is Sydney Anthony and I had a bad car accident about a year and a half ago. I was in a lot of physical pain and I came into an American Family Care for help. Not only was my doctor rude and uncaring, she also failed to tell me that my X-rays would not be covered by my insurance. So, I got a bill from AFC for about $1, 200 a few weeks later. I wa...

Office visit 10/04/18 and 10/13/18 Guarantor id # 2714217 Visit # 1118961 & [protected] I have called several times over past week only to hear a recording that you value your customers I waited over 15 mins still no one answered my call, this could of been handled painless if someone had pick up the phone !
billing department
I have never been treated so appallingly by a healthcare provider in my whole life.
I booked myself into The Mt. Juliet AFC clinic on 09/27/2018 for a 'Free Preventative Physical', covered by my insurance company. The nurse told me that my treatment would be free and covered by Cigna.
I have since received a bill for $197.16. I have been back and forth to the clinic and the billing department disputing this. I have been told that the clinic billed me for a 'New Patient' appointment, which is not what I asked for and not discussed with the nurse. As the nurse said that everything would be free in my visit, I asked for a repeat prescription that I was part of my 'Free Preventative Physical'.
I initially tried to call the billing department, and was on hold for 45 minutes, so went into the clinic, who referred me back to the billing department.
After numerous more attempts to get through to your billing department, I send two emails to them, with no response or acknowledgement of receipt of these emails.
After 40 minutes on hold today, I got through to the billing department, who told me that it was the responsibility of the clinic to sort this out. I spoke to a supervisor who did not communicate to me that she was going to transfer me to the clinic, I just got transferred. I spoke to Maddie at the clinic who told me that I needed to speak to the billing department! I explained what had just happened at that they had transferred me through to her, so without communicating it to me, she just transferred me back to the billing department!
I have a bill for $197.16 that I am expected to pay, it is a form of mis-selling and a form of theft. Your clinic knew that I had booked in for a 'Free Preventative Physical', so should have informed me that I would be charged for the writing out of any prescription, I would have discussed and costs with my husband before proceeding.
I have been treated appallingly, and it's a total injustice. I need a bill sent to my insurance company for a 'Free Preventative Physical' under reference [protected]. I need to be re-billed, but neither your clinic or billing department seems to know who is responsible for this, who I need to speak to, or how I came to be in this situation. This is fraud.

service
I was seen 10-4-18 by doctor akalonu at Bessemer al location... he was not caring and had the attitude like he was ready to go. I was complaining of foot pain . And first thing he said was tell me what's going on the put on one glove and literally touched my foot with one finger and asked me to point where it was hurting . I showed him and he immediately said he thought it was inflammation. Then said I mean we can take an X-ray just Incase but I really think it's inflammation. He was not very thorough or personable just very blan... I will not be going back to this place ever ! They made me feel like I was stupid and wasted their time .

follow up from blood work
On 9/18/2018 I went into the American family care on Sutton road. I signed in, paid and waited 2 hours. I watched as people in front of me went in as called which took forever since there was only 5 ahead of me. A family of 4 came in and it was obvious the staff knew them with the conversation and they were called in after 5 minutes on the waiting room. I received a refund and left. Not sure what is on my blood work to get called back. Was told they had trama in the back but based on the family going back that was BS. AFC can kiss my a--
complaining about the service.
I visited the afc urgent care on 09/08/2018, and the receptionist was very rude. She spelled my name wrong completely in the system regardless of the fact I gave her my ID, and medical card. So when the tech called me a completely different name. I was very embarrassed. she didn't apologize about it. I feel threatened at the fact she is working there and have no compassion for sick clients. she was giving me short and insincere responses while dealing with me. What if she is mad to the point she messes with my medical records? This is a danger. Not to mention the bathroom toilet was stopped up. and the bathroom wasn't closed off. I can honestly say I was discouraged, and probably won't go back to this establishment again. I would like to have a refund of my copay which was $50. my name is Tedra Collica date of birth 08/16/1980. My phone number is [protected]. By the way she put me in the system as Tracy.
billing/ insurance
I need someone/ anyone to help resolve the incorrect coding of bills at AFC. My daughter is living in AL and I am the insurance holder in TN. AFC Urgent Care in covered at 100% after $50 copay for my insurance. However, no one can seem to get the coding correct and we continue getting billed for $130 for each visit.
This is becoming like a second job to get completed before it ruins our credit. The billing department does not have a clue. I was transferred to a manager by the name of Donna who said she knew the issue and would get it resolved. She resolved 1 of the 4 bills. I have since left 2 voicemails for her over the last 2 weeks with no return call. I have filed a complaint with my insurance at this point and contacted the BBB.
This is beyond ridiculous. I am in the medical field and I feel for anyone having to do other people's job. Get it together!
I do not wish to put my daughter's information on this site. My contact # is [protected].
My bill was a big issue in 4/1/21 $200.00. It was finally resolved in 4/20/22.
Now your sending me the same bill again. Viva medicare said its paid. Your statement said it going to collections. If it goes to collections. I will sue AFC. I have worked to hard on my credit for you to mess it up...

completion of urgent care visit
I went to the Trussville, Al. location and when my visit was completed I stopped at front desk and asked if there was any paperwork to be signed or if I was getting a copy of my records for the visit. The two ladies at the desk both looked at me like I was interrupting them and with snotty tones said "No! Goodbye ". I was also told that my prescription was sent over to the pharmacy. When I went to my preferred pharmacy and asked for my medication, it was not available. I had to wait until the next morning to call the urgent care and ask what happened to my prescription and was it sent to the wrong pharmacy. I was then told that the doctor was supposed to have printed it out given it to me. I also saw that there are 2 charges of the visit billed to my debit card. When I asked about it, I was told that they only ran my card once and couldn't explain why I was being double charged.
tiger town urgent care in auburn alabama
my name is Amie sardinha. My email is [protected]@aol.com
I went to go see Dr. Greening today at your Tiger town branch. I came in with severe pain in my lower right abdomen. The doctor came in two times while I was trying to get blood drawn (which is always hard for me to do and takes a while). Once the blood work was drawn he came in a third time and I could tell that he was irritated. I told him about my stabbing burning pain for the last 5 days that has progessivly gotten worse and he said in a condescending way "so a cramp". I can tell you what I am experience is nothing close to a cramp. He then goes well I think its just gas. And then felt my abdomen in a hurry and goes, yeah just gas. Then walked out and the nurse came in an told me that I was suppose to eat more fiber and drink water. I drink a lot of water per day because my employer tracks it and I eat oatmeal at least once a day. So I can tell you that fiber and water will not help. They gave me a lacative if perscription written on a different doctors perscription pad because he apparently couldnt bother to get his own. The nurses said that it had been a "rough" day. And to add insult to injury all I was given was a goodie bag(im sure that will help with my pain). I still am having terrible pain in my abdomen and you have wasted my time and money today. If I get worse tomorrow I am going to another doctor because I was not treated today at all.
dr. kenny at afc
Yesterday, Dr. Kenny cost me $200! My daughter, Holly, went there after work to make sure she didn't have pneumonia, thinking it was probably costochondritis, but wanting to make sure. The doctor ended up taking 3 blood samples and said the levels of something in her blood signified a blood clot. He took an x-ray and said it was abnormal, and she must go to the ER at once. The back of the paper they gave her said, "Life threatening situation." She texted us and went to the Hoover ER, Medical West. I met her there as soon as we got to Hoover from a trip. I trusted this ER and wasn't so sure about Dr. Kenny from American Family Care, but it was scary thinking my daughter might have a blood clot. Medical West is a great ER. They took her right away. They called the clinic for the info. from the blood samples and the x-ray. They got the blood sample info. but no x-ray and no one would call them back. Even the ER nurse saw that there was absolutely no indication of any kind in the blood samples that Holly had a blood clot! They had to do another x-ray since they couldn't get it from the clinic and found that all was well. The ER nurse told me she will keep trying to call that clinic to complain and that I should too since they had wasted our time and lots of money! At the very least, I want my $40 copay back from American Family Care. I am ready to complain on every network I can find.
corporate billing office
My son received treatment for two ear infections back Dec. I provided insurance information, however my insurance declined the bill. The reason provided was that they were secondary insurance for Medicaid, my ex-wife insurance. The Local Office stated that they ran it through medicaid and received the amount due. The Corporate billing office sent me a bill for the same amount, I again went to the local office attempting to pay the amount due. Again they insisted that the amount was paid. I called the billing department and explain that I had gone up there not once but twice and the office stated that Medicaid had payed the amount due and that I owed 0. The sales representative said she could not help, so I asked to speak to a supervisor. David comes on the phone, and immediately starts telling me that AFC does not accept Medicaid and that I will need to pay the balance. Now I can understand lack of communication in a corporation, but when I ask why they don't call the local office and work out internal what the miscommunication is and then tell me what I owe, and the response I get is we aren't going to do that, that's not our job. Makes me think its either fraud, or lack of professionalism. Either way they need to get it together.
medical care
I went to American family care yesterday with severe trigeminal neuralgia pain. This was the worst pain of my life.
My neurologist is unavailable probably because it's Easter weekend. My attack has lasted 3 days with the most intense pain that i literally want to die. Doctor wstkins tried to give me a script for a drug that I've taken about 4 years ago and no longer effective. He did give me a pain shot that gave me some relief until 3am this morning.
I called this so called doctor and he said that I would either have to suffer the Easter weekend and wait till Monday to call my neurologist or go the ER. He would not give me anything to get me through the weekend just to take the edge off the pain. I've never experienced the cold hearted nature of a physician and he's absolutely unqualified and doesn't deserve any respect. This [censor] clearly forgot the hypocratic oath. Maybe if I were white I would've been taken seriously. Dr. Watkins will one day be on the other side of the table and I wish him a better doctor than he was to me. Allowing me to suffer is criminal and I have not been able to function for 3 days. But.who cares that I am literally in agony suffering the worst pain of my life, begging for any help. The only compassion I recieved was from the staff.
I would rather [censored] than see this cross eyed clown again. I don't care if I'm on the verge of death, I'll drive across town before I see him again.
Thanks for failing a person who came to you for help and you could only provide the option to suffer until Monday or pay $100 dollar copay to go to emergency. You deserve a special place in hell.
billing - getting bills for co-pay that was paid in cash
I went to the AFC Urgent Care on 9/23/17. Smyrna, TN location. Visit ID [protected]. Guarantor/Acct ID # 2651769. I was informed by the front desk that their debit/credit card system was currently down. She said that we could try running our debit card through, but it might charge us twice. She said that we would have to pay our co-pay of 25.00 with a check or preferably in cash. We don't carry the checkbook with us. My husband did have 25.00 cash on him. We paid before I even saw the doctor. My husband did not get a receipt, not even sure they offered to give him one. In October I received a bill in the mail with a due date of 11/5/2017 for a balance due of 25.00. My husband called the billing inquiry number [protected] on the statement. Whoever he spoke with said they would take care of it. Then we recieved another bill in the mail with a due date of 12/04/2017 for the same balance of 25.00. I called on 11/20/17, the person I spoke with told me that they had had problems of this same nature with the Smyrna, TN location, tht she would check with the office manager at that location and get it straightened out. I asked her if she could call me back, she asked me to call her back on Monday, 11/27/2017. I called back today, Tuesday 11/28/2017. I spoke with Constance, who did not understand my situation and wanted to know who was supposed to call where and get it straightened out. I told her what the person I spoke with had said, who I unfortunately forgot to get a name for. She told me the person I needed to talk to was on another line and would have to call me back. I told her I didn't mind holding, she insisted that I leave my name and number, that otherwise she could do nothing. She was not at all helpful, rude, and I did get upset with. I did go ahead and leave my number, and I got a return call shortly from Shelia Coleman, who apparently was the woman I spoke with previously. I gave her my info again, she asked if I remembered what time I was seen, were there many people there. I told her I wasn't sure but maybe around 1:00, and that there weren't many people there, they were leaving because they didn't have the cash to pay. She again stated that they were having problems with that location. She was able to pull up where I signed in for my appointment. Told me that she would have to make some notes and speak with her supervisor, who is out of town until Thursday. She said she will call me back on Thursday. She was nicer and more helpful. I want this resolved, no more bills, and a letter stating from American Family Care on their letterhead stating that the co-pay of $25.00 was paid in full at time of service. I have excellent credit, and I have never had anything like this happen before.
uneccessary medical tests
Visited there in Feb 2012 for insomnia and stress. They ran all kinds of tests on me before addressing my reason for coming in. I am a daily runner and have been for years. They way they do it is subtle and sneaky after they have you in a room: An LPN comes in and tells me that they need blood first and blood pressure. Okay, I can see that. Repeat scenario...

I went en last Tuesday with a bad leg wound. Came back Friday and had to pay again for the recheck that my doctor asked me to come in for. Forgot my work note. Called back on Monday and was told I would have to come back again, pay again for the recheck so he could write it. I don't think I should have to pay twice because he asked me to come back in on a...
