AmeriCredit Bad service

My Wife has a car financed through Americredit. She called to see about refinancing or deffering a payment as I have lost my job and unemployment benefits. She is barley making enough to pay our rent and other bills. All she/we want is to get a lower payment until I can get a new job. They refuse to help, only stating they will set up payment arraingments while you continue to make your monthly payment! What a load of BS! This company is as crooked as a politician! All they want to to is take advantage of people and screw up their credit! Is there anything that can be done is does she just screw up her credit? No one will do a refi because she has only been working a couple months after having been laid off for over 2 years... Suggestions would be greatful!

AmeriCredit Worst Auto Finance Company

This company is by far the worst auto financing business you can deal with. Sure, most of them are blood suckers, but this one takes the cake! They are known for taking folks money and applying a very, very small amount towards interest and hardly anything towards the principle. You'll end up owing the same amount you purchased the car for after 3 to 5 years. Trust me, I'm speaking from experience.

No one in the organization will speak to you about re-negotiating the contract which by law you are entitled to do so. The reps are trained to play ignorant and convince you to continue doing business with them under unfair business practices. Not only will they harrass you 20-30 times a day for the "next payment due"; you'll get to a point where you're so fed up you'll want them to repossess the car!

Mind you they're famous for dragging this process out as well. Because bottom line...they want more payments from you. It's only when they really get the point and from the tone of your voice that you mean business, they'll arrange to have your car repossessed. I am willing to live with the "negative credit rating" because frankly, I refuse to give them one red cent more! I've paid $17, 000 on a $25, 000 loan and according to their records I still owe $25, 000. Take into consideration the car's been sold at auction for $8, 000 and they continually harrass me for the remaining balance of $17, 000. I'm out completely...a total loss of payments for 3 years.

For any one of you out there thinking about doing business with these crooks, or if you've been solicted...run, run...as fast as you can from these slimeballs!

This should be dropping off my credit but they keep renewing it. Id love to get on the wagon. Yeah my bad I didnt pay, but the soo ripped me off too.

AmeriCredit USURIOUS FEES

Just got off the phone with The Texas State Attorney's Office Greg Abbott [protected] extension 8825 Joanne. They are close to launching an investigation of this company but would like some more complaints to do so. You can easily file a complaint online at http://www.oag.state.tx.us/consumer/complain.shtml or send it by USPS Below is a letter which describes my complaint
I have recently made the final payment on my 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis and was amazed to find out that besides the $179.56 in late fees and $39.28 interest due there was a usurious fee of $3, 782, 31 added on. This is of course absurd as that would make the total payoff over 60 months $31, 406.32 on a $17, 264.74 loan (81.9%!) instead of the agreed on $27, 624.00.

The $3, 782.31 is a fictional fee that can’t be explained by any accounting method. This is neither an amortized amount nor straight line interest. Your term for it is “extension fee”

I have paid the $218.84 in late fees and interest and will pay the 4 installments of $1, 005.02 by the 27th of each month as agreed with your employee James. However please be advised that if the full $3, 782.31 is not forgiven by Tuesday August 10, 2010 I will notify the Attorney General Greg Abbott of Texas in regards to the usurious charges.

AmeriCredit Rewritten Contract

In April 2005, my husband and I bought a car. We made extra payments on the principle of the loan, and we were 6 payments from paying off the loan, but we were going through some hard times and fell a little behind. They kept calling us about "deferring" our loan. I refused...sooooo they rewrote the loan on deferrement, and now we have 12 payments to go.

I have contacted this company and I am going to contact the FCC. I find this to be an incredibly HORRIBLE COMPANY. They have been nothing but trouble since day one.

Man, that's horrible. I'm dealing with the same company and everytime I get even one payment behind, they ring my phone off the hook. That and I calulated my payments to find that I'm paying $24, 000 for a $14, 000 loan. It's pretty messed up how this company does business. All they care about is the bottom line, regardless of how much hardship their clients (victims) have.

AmeriCredit Customer service? Not with this company!

If anybody reads a report about AmeriCredit and it says that they provide excelent customer service, throw the bull *** flag and wipe you butt with the paper it's written on.

First off, you can't just talk to a live person. No, you have to leave a message for them to call you back. Then you have to sit around your house for a day and a half waiting for them to call. When the lazy ### do finally call, they put you right back to their voice mail and want you to do it all over again.

If you try to speak to a person in a boss related position, they won't take your call. That leaves you with no choice but to leave another message with a group of jack *** that don't give a *** about customer service, and you have to wait another unknown amount of time for them to get back to you.

I suggest that if you have an option to either get a loan thru AmeriCredit or give yourself a rectal exam using plyers and a ball bat, choose the exam. Atleast that way you know it's going to hurt.

AmeriCredit Scam Artist

First off all of these blogs are my story to a T. We was contacted yesterday by a man with a strong India accent named Justin Wright. Ok we wasn't home and he left a message telling us that my husband or his attorney needed to contacted him and if we didn't and I quote" This message is ("agenitle or attended" not really sure) ___ ___ from the second you recieve this message I need you or your region attorney of records to return the call. The issue at hand is extremly time sensitive my name is Justin Wright the hotline to my ext. is [protected] I repeat it [protected] Don't disregard this message and do return the call. If you don't return the call If I don't hear from your attorney either. The only thing I can do is wish you good luck, ( "a cheerful call from you" not sure here either the accent gets me ) Good Bye, Take care." This was straight from the answer machine. He told me I had recieved money on March 09" for a payday loan.He knew all my info just like everyone else. I was scared. I told him that there had to be a mistake and told him my wallet was stolen back in October. He told me they had sent me 80 emails in 09. And that their was no way that anyone could get my email from my wallet. He was yelling at me which made me furious I ask him how he knew what was in my wallet did he steal it. he continued to say that my Husband was in Violation with Check fraud and that we owed 700.00 and if we didn't pay today then by Monday that he would be prosecuted by his law firm. I ask him send me an email with this information where it was from and that I couldn't understand him he said and I quote" Quit acting like a baby you know exactly what I am talking about and if you don't pay today then your husband will go to jail" I ask him where is this going to be held at he said at my county code and I kept asking him what county code my zip code. he yells at me and says stop raising your voice at me. Code county code i said can you spell it he spelled court I said oh you mean court like the court house, he said yes. Your county attorney will prosecute He asked if I had an attorney and I said yes. Then asked him who is prosecuting he said your county attorney and I laughed. he said what are you laughing about do you have an attorney. I said my attorney is the county attorney he said then what is his name and I gave it. Im a hillybilly in a small town everyone knows everyone here and just so happens the county attorney lives here. and Is a family friend. So I get off the phone and my husband did a reversal phone listing. and looked up saugus, ny no place exsist. Just Saugus Mass. It came up a cell phone in Ny. My husband was like it's a scam. So to be sure we call the attorney today and the bank to see if there was a deposit made and we missed it. The attorney was laughing and advised us to tell a well known detective. So the detective calls them and we didn't get a chance to call him back with the results but I will tommorrow. So I called then this morning and asked for Justin the guy told me he was in a meeting "I HOPE". I said then let me talk to a supervisior he said they was all in a meeting. I said well then you can look this up for me he said I am just the phone operator. I said so you are telling me that there is nobody else to talk to just you no suporvisiors he told me to call back in an hour. I could hear all kinds of noise in the back ground like people laughing and them covering the phone and I could hear him yelling for him when I called back I just couldn't make the name through the accent probably sdhgkjndsvkjnv. who knows. Then at this point we knew we was gonna have some fun with these people. So when I call again a woman is on the phone she said hello can I help you I said who am I speaking with she said can I have your last name. I said not until I get your name she said bla bla bla call back when you can give me a last name. So I call back again and begin to ask alot of questions this Justin guy was furious and told me that it would be handled in court Monday and then I ask where do I need to be at this is when he gave me the Saugus Ny 92865 and tells me that if " I call again he will press harassment charges on Me" I said please do" and he hangs up on me. So all day today I have researched every detail of our conversation Saugus is in Mass., then there is the Ny where there phone number shows up then I thought ok what about the zip code. So I research it, it's in Orange County California. So we have called the number using call block and called all the numbers everyone else had posted. And so far they are all the same people. But one thing is weird one call we made and just hit mute the guy sounded like an AMERICIAN saying Hello can I help you" it was the same number I have called all day I had been hitting redial and just listening and then my husband it being on speaker said that is no cell phone its a corded landline they had slamed the phone down. So this is our story the same as everyone elses. And for the record it is 9:30pm tonight and now there line is not in service. IT IS ALL SCAM! THey will continue to recieve my phone calls and I am going to show them what harrassment is all about!

I have received two calls from this company. It is the exact same story, man with thick accent, lots of background noise, telling me a lawsuit has been filed against me. I did not confirm nor give them any of my information, however I did not even give them the time of day on this. Just informed them that I was aware of the scam, nice try and hung up. Amazing that this is still going around.

AmeriCredit Harrassment

I have been getting these phone calls from a person named Neil Johnson stating that there is a legal process against me and if I want to know more I better call him. I called the number [protected]. Before I called, I checked public records just to make sure there were no lawsuits against me. Once I called, I was transferred to David Jones. He started SCREAMING at me that I was being charged wtih check fraud, wire fraud and not paying a payday loan. I had no idea what he was talking about. He said there was a suit against me. I told him I had just looked that up and that there was no suit. I told him I needed the paperwork mailed to my home of this so called complaint. he would NOT MAIL ANYTHING. he kept screaming at me and shouting his name and his lawyer number. Finally I told him he had to email me something. What he emailed me was made to look official but was not. I checked with my bank and I have never had a bounced check or fraud of any kind on my account. What is really frightening is that they have my social security number, my bank number and the names of my sisters. I am filing a police report right away and closing my bank account. I am well aware of my rights and know that it is illegal to threated false legal action and scream and threaten someone. I don't believe this company is in the US as they don't speak English well and all and instead of refurring to my social security number...they keep saying my social security. Please beware of these people. They are SCAM artists and use threats and aggression to scare people into paying them money they are not owed. I don't know what more to do but everyone needs to beware!

AmeriCredit Asking for immediate payment of a loan

I got a call in the office 2 weeks ago regarding a loan from fastcash and it was from a Mr. Robin Jackson and the phone number is [protected]. He said that i didnot reply to several emails from a loan company and now immediate payment for $614.00 should be made or i need to go to court to settle this. A particular Mr. Michael Brown with phone number [protected] also called regarding this loan. I was so surprised receiving this call and honestly i was terrified, calling me at work and harassing me. This is such a very bad experience.

I received this same call today and yesterday (11/20/2010). I called back because a message was left stating that there were criminal allegations place on my social security number which he stated my last 4 digit. the caller name was albert walker . when I called back he put me in touched with Frank Jefferson. Frank Jefferson went on to state the same speel about how I had a payday loan from cashadvance usa that I didn't pay back. he stated that several attempts were made on bank account which was returned. I did state that I have payday loans(not with cash advance usa) but they were paid and I was not aware of any return unpaid loans. He constantly repeated to me that the call was being recorded for the purposes of being able to use in court against me. He made mention of attorney and if had one and would like to continue the case in court. I stated to him I didn't have an attorney because I was not aware of a case against and not aware of being in default of a loan. He was reading from a prepared paper because everytime interupted with questions he would tell me not to interupt and he would answer my question once he was finished. He also stated that he would have to refer to their attorney Julian Marshall which was a higher authority. He and the so called atty. ask me if I were ever arrested or had a lawsuit against me. He told me that he could not make any decision but would really like to help me becuse I seem like a good person and have good credit becuase they ran background and credit checks on me. He would talk to mr. marshall for me becuse mr. marshall was a higher authority. then he comes back and said Mr. marsall would like to speak with me so I could convince him I want to resolve this out of court. I was really scare because I thought someone had stolen my info(which they did)and was doing illegal activities against me. Because they threaten to report information to my employment, I almost paid this clown. then something hit me when he tried to make me pay him (579.63)with a debit or credit card in 45 minutes and write a letter of apology and intent through faxing it to this number [protected]. This is called OOCR-(out of court retribution). I think God alert during ending of conversation because I started asking many questions that he would keep interupting me. I ask him what law firm and address was his attorney Julian Marshall from and he gave me this information Morgan Law Associates, 19623 Lake Hollow lane, Houston, Texas 77084. After hanging up with this clown, he called me back threaten me that i better call back by monday because they were leaving the office for the day. I forgot to mention earlier the number that these scammer called from [protected] Grapevine, Texas and [protected] Fort Worth, Texas located in Tarrant County. I plan to contact the state atty general they must be stopped and I will notify as many people possible of this scam.

My husband and I have had the same experience. We are told to call [protected]. The person calling has a very thick india accent and has been using the name Patrick Gibbs and Eric Matthews. They sound like the same person. They have been calling my husbands work and leaving threatening messages. Saying that we have defaulted on a payday loan. A couple of years ago out of desparation we took out a payday loan, but paid the money back. I wonder if they somehow got our information from that payday loan company. Biggest mistake we ever made. My husbands work has an employee advocate. She called the number back and recorded the conversation and told them she was turning them over to the Attorney Generals office. zoesadie

There is a scam going on right in our area and I think area viewers need to know about it, so they don't have the horrid experience. You get a call at work from different names, but sounds like same man. Mine was Robin Jackson. There is a lot of background noise and a thick accent, making it very difficult to understand. The man states that you have defaulted on a payday loan, and they have decided rather than to pursue it, to charge you with check deception, theft and several other horrid charges. he then asks you where you will be at 1030 the next morning, and says the police will be at your house to pick you up and take you to jail. When pressed for details, like who do I supposedly owe, they say it might be Fast Cash. The email address they gave me was cashadvance@USA.com. The first phone number they gave me [protected], is out of service. When they called back yesterday, demanding to speak to my boss, so I can be fired, they gave me another number [protected]. When I looked this up online, it seems as if they have been after 100's of people, all with the same story. They threaten you with jail, loss of your job, and it catches you so off guard, it is scary. They have your SSN, address, phone numbers, bank account numbers. There have been a fair number of people that have sent them money, thinking it would end the harrassment, but it does not, they want more. These people need to be stopped, and the word needs to get out, so others don't have this experience. Thank you Susan M Hoffman, Oroville, CA

AmeriCredit Car Loan

The car dealer we went to put our car loan with AmeriCredit. OMG, nothing but BS from this company. If you pay your car payment on their website, they charge a $5.00 fee which by the way it would be applied to the car. My bank deducts 1/2 my payment (bi-weekly) and sends to Americredit. When I first got my car loan, I had to call each and every month to tell Americredit to apply all payments to my car...well, I started traveling more and could not call, never heard from Americredit until Christmas vacation I get a call at work, I checked my messages at work while on vacation, bad thing to do! (-: I called AmeriCredit and they told me I owed $600.00 and something...boy was I PISSED! Anyway, they told me that my payments were not applied to my car but to the interest...WTF...I could not believe this. I had to explain how my payments are set-up and how I should not be late...they applied some of my payments to the interest and not my car. I was told it would be fixed...well I was wrong, I had to call again, and again I was told it would be fixed. I was told it had to do with my September payment, but it would be fixed. Thank God I documented on the people I spoke to at AmeriCredit. Anyway, after the phone calls and being told it would be fixed was nothing but a waste of my time becasue it was not fixed! I just got an email today telling me my car payment was due when in fact it should not be due. I emailed them...oh wait, you see the funny thing is when you email AmeriCreidt about an issue, they reply but when you want it documented, they tell you to call and if you email them again, they ingore your email. Here is the kicker, they never emailed me about my car payment being due until they got my email on my complaint, they can keep your email and email you on that...car payment, but they can't apply bi-weekly car payments to the car because they don't have a set-up for that but they do when you pay on-line through AmeriCedit. Where are the lawyers, we need to class action suite against this company! God I wish I would have known about this bank...

I bought a 2005 optima kia in 2006 for $12, 000.00 Americredit had the loan. I paid 336.00 a month for almost 2and one half years. I lost my job and got behind and they repossessed my car Dec.31, 2008. Yeh, happy new year. They then sold my car for almost 5, 000 dollars. Now I get a letter in the mail saying I owe them over 8, 000 dollars! This has to be illigal. At the very least unethical! Can someone tell me what I can do about this if anything?

I purchased a vehicle from Americredit with payments of 1000.00 per month. I was laid of and fell behind in my payments. I was running 1 payment behind and they said they would work with me. I did not realize working with me meant charging me 25 dollars per day in late fees. At 25 dollars a day 750.oo per month my balance continued to increase to the tune of 10, 000 extra in my loan balance. I ended up totaling the vehicle and my insurance company paid the vehicle off according you the documented value. Americredit took the payment from the insurance company as a single payment and began charging the 25.00 per day late fees for several months before the treating calls all times of day and night. When I contacted them about what seems to be illegal practices the said the charges were not late fees but interest payments. I still don't know the out come but I plan on seeking legal action

AmeriCredit Unethical/Unlawful Business Practices

I opened a loan with Americredit 3/19/2008 for 22, 318.90 with a monthly payment of 517.00 for 72 months on a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. I have nothing but trouble from the onset with this company. They post payments late then they charge you the late fees that never seem to come off of your account. I recently acquired a copy of my credit report and found that I have 12 months straight of late payments with Americredit a few times even showing 60 days delinquent. I am no Einstein, but I know that any other finance company would have reposessed their property by now. The truth is I have not paid my note on time every month, but I have made every payment everytime, and never -ever -ever missed 2 consecutive payments. I have paid $700, $800, $661, so on and so forth to makesure that my payments were sufficient to satisfy my debtors. These people are just evil and the consisitenly violate the laws regarding fair debt collecting. They have called my home 4 times in a day then my cell 2 times and even my job phone several times in that same day. The law allows for 2 calls if I am not mistaken. They harrass their clients ungodly. I recently checked my statement online and discovered that I owe another $158.60 late fee for my February payment. Here is the catch thought today is February 2 my payment is not due until the 15th does anyone else see a problem with this, and my account is current with no payments outstanding. I swear they are just making this stuff up, I have problem paying when I owe something but I believe they are trying to charge people for phantom occurrances to keep them in these over interest, over blown loans. I have paid over $11, 000 in payments but I still owe $19, 000 on a loan that was opened 2 years ago for 22, 000. That my friends makes no mathmatical sense. I can only deduce that I have paid $8, 000 in interest. In other words if they were to reposess my auto today they would have made their interest on the loan and retaken the auto, then sent it to auction, made some more on it at aution, and then sent me a bill for the difference of what the auto got at auction versus what was left on the loan, and this is legal, are you freaking kidding me. I believe a class action Lawsuit is in order, as individuals we do not have the power to fight these kinds of financial rapists and they know it, but as hundreds or thousands of angry well organized and well represented Americans we can hit these offenders in the only place they will feel and understand it; their wallets.

I also have the same situation, I agree that we need to have a class action suit, anyone have this started? I have since scraped up the money to pay them off, I called one day and owed them around 7500.00 and then when I went to the bank to get the cashiers check I called for the information again to get an exact figure and I was told that it would be 97?.00 I about fell over, they had no explanation on the additional charges! I couldnt buy a vehicle right now if I tried!

I experienced the same scenario but the figures are different. Nonetheless, this company is highly unethical and have gotten away with these practices for way too long. I bad mouth them every chance I get and tell people to stay as far away as possible. These ripoff artists are in it for the money and they truly deserve to have a class action law suit taken against them, if not already.

AmeriCredit No Gap Offered/will not cooperate

We paid timely on our loan, new we had an awful interest rate, but kept plugging away for 3 years. A week ago we were in a horrific accident, and the car was deemed a total loss. Americredit gave me 2 weeks to pay another payment on the loan, or to pay it off. Of course, the payoff was more than my actual loan total on our bill, and because of the severity of the accident, our paperwork was in our glove box, which we couldn't get to due to the accident being far from our home, and a few children hospitalized and top priority.

Our insurance company offered a much lower payout than I owe, so I contacted Americredit to see what we could do. They stated we have no gap insurance, and refused to mail me an original contract. I explained I needed to see this, and they continued to refuse my request. Our car dealer who was a major Chevy dealer, went out of business, so that didn't help matters.

In fighting with our insurance company on the payoff, Americredit began to harrass us for payment or payoff. I explained that I was fighting the insurance company FOR THEM AND US, in order to at the very least come out even on this loss. We had no vehicle, four small children and my husband needed back and forth to work; it wasn't in our best interest to be almost $3, 000 in the negative on this loan, and unable to get another one for another replacement vehicle. Americredit kept on arguing they needed payment now, and I explained that was fine, however, the balance due, they'd never get; they'd be bleeding a rock, so to speak, and that once I agreed on the settlement with the insurance company, I was done. Report to credit, I don't care at this point.

Americredit gave me another 10 business days to try. I also explained to them that the airbags never deployed, a failure, no doubt, and Chevy was trying to locate the vehicle to inspect the failure to settle with us, too. Our insurance company kept on pressuring me to sign the rights of the title away, get the payment to Americredit, and allow them to scrap the vehicle. Every time that Chevy went to a storage site that our insurance company sent them to, the vehicle was moved. Four times now total moved. There are a lot of things that don't add up, and I'm no expert.

My issue with Americredit is two-fold. One, they refuse me a contract copy to review the gap. Two, a month ago our balance was 11, 480. I paid $400, balance then $11.080. My payoff suddenly became $11, 494. ?!?

Americredit reps just start talking fast and in circles, which I explained made no sense. Our balance includes everything, how can a little over $400 be just...lost?! Ugh, what a mess.

They did offer me to go out and find another vehicle, it had to be equal to the payoff offered by our insurance company. The payoff was $8600. So I had to find another vehicle that was $8600 or less, had less mileage than ours did, was greater in age, and in great shape. Heh...and if I did find it, I could just replace the totalled vehicle with this new one and finish the loan off. Yeah, right. So, I'd be paying in essence twice over for one vehicle, and they'd make more money. Not.

I would never recommend them to anyone, even in hardship. I've found local buy here pay here much better to deal with than these people. You miss a payment by a day, you get anywhere from 8-10 calls a day, at home, work, wherever.

Once when we were on vacation I let Americredit know that we were, and that as soon as we got home, and my husband got his paycheck, I'd call in the payment. They noted the account and agreed, it was about 2 weeks later than due. I believed this. We came home, husband went back to work, and all day long a tow truck is circling our home. I called Americredit to make the payment to be told that the car was being repo'd and I had to make 2 payments NOW. My husband pulls up to the house for lunch to end up being harrassed and threatened by the tow driver. Husband pulls into our driveway, and closes the gates, for the tow driver to begin to open the gates. I happened to have a 200 pound mastiff I let out of the kitchen and she went barrelling to the gates, and the tow driver proceeded to get into the truck, and pull out a crowbar and swing at my dog. IN my yard. The fool didn't happen to notice my husband is a police officer, and found himself being escorted in a pretty flashing car from his partner pulling up and arresting the man for trespassing and attacking the dog with a weapon. What a mess. All the while the woman on the phone with me from Americredit kept saying, 'ok, give me your checking account or credit card information'. Bah. I understand they have work to do, but when it comes to the other end of customer satisfaction as well as working with the customer on requests, it doesn't happen.

I refuse to sign anything over from the insurance company for payoff until Americredit sends me the contract. Let the car rot somewhere, if Amercredit wants to repo it, by all means they can.

AmeriCredit Uncooperative

Me and my husband have had our share of financial problems and Americredit has been one of the worst companies to deal with when we needed help with setting up different payment plans ect.

They would not let us refinance our cars and called and harrassed us consistently. Their interest rates are way out of line and the company is to big and owns to much of the car financing market.

Other consumers beware. If you do car shopping and the dealership says Americredit run fast.

I can't wait till my car is paid off, as they will never hear from me again.

I have a loan with americredit, and they are a sub-prime lender if i ever seen one, my interest rate for my 2005 ford escape was 22.95% wtf! yeah i said it 22.95% and no matter how much i pay toward the note it never goes down, i still own more on the car then it is worth, i can't let it go back (wich i have thought of doing dozens of times) because my credit is pretty decent now, i really feel ashamed for getting roped into this car loan and not doing my homework cause now i'm stuck paying for something that it seems never decreases in payment, i checked my online account and i'm just on 41 of 72 payments and i've had the car for three years now, i look at my statements and if i send in a 500 payment and the actual payment is 479.38 then 380.00 goes toward interest and the rest towards principle! where they do that at?, i'll tell you to stupid, blind people like me who don't take the time out to read and investigate, cause had i done that i would have never drove off the lot with that car and those terms, i see this is why people have others burn, steal, damage a vehicle to get out of the loan, ijs.

AmeriCredit Auto Loan Overcharge

I purchased my new car the middle of August 2003. The dealership arranged financing through AmeriCredit. The first payment invoice (which provided my account number, address for sending payment, etc.) was sent to me mid-September with a payment due date of October 5. The invoice indicated this was payment #1 of 72. At the end of my contract the final payment was 1 1/2 times the original payment amount. The company has called me numerous times at work, leaving messages on a peer's voicemail. They said they didn't want me to be surprised by the final payment amount, to which I informed them they were too late. When I eventually called them (I was NOT late in making the payment/s), they informed me that my first payment was actually due SEPTEMBER 5. At that time I informed them that it was they, not I, that had neglected to give me proper information for a September 5, 2003, payment. Had they sent me a payment coupon, I would have made a payment in September. I had no alternative but to wait for them to send me the appropriate paperwork. In the past several weeks, they have called my office 3-5 times daily, always a canned message with the first part missing, never giving a name as to whom the call is for, etc.

I consider AmeriCredit to be completely unethical, and will NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN. No one can afford to accept credit/do business with a company like this that preys on its clients.

AmeriCredit Auto Payment

I have had my loan with americredit since 2005. I baught a brand new 2005 Mazda. Since then till now I have worked hard to get my credit back to good standing as it used to not be the best (Thus why my loan got taken by Americredit and not a real lender).

I have been making small extra payments on my car since 2005 no problem. have a 20k loan down to around 6-7k right now. I sent them a check for right around $2064.00. I contacted a Customer Service rep before hand and was assured. I was due for Aug payment so 421.86 woudl go towards August payment. the remaining 1642.14 would be applied to the principal.

All was good, Then I notice they applied the entire amount to principal. Which I know, in the long run really helps me and does nothing for Americredit. Gets me out of their grimey grips faster. But of that 2064, 421 was for my August payment. I thought "No big deal, I was assured it would be applied correctly and is an easy fix to have re applied either way".

Called them up after several email attempts got ignored. I was told they would not re apply the funds. I am not late for August payment that was due on Aug. 6th. I was told it is against their policy to re apply teh funds and that when you send in a large amount it always go's to principal. They also told me that no-one in their office told me it would be applied that way and that me telling them a lie like that would not get it done that way.

I'm all for paying the loan off sooner and I know all to prin. helps me in the long run. But I do not have the money to make Aug payment now because that was included with my large payment I made. I don't have 421.86 do make Aug payment.

They refuse to make the payment. I have even gone to the BBB in Forth Worth with no luck. They gave the same generic answer "we will not re apply the funds to suite you". Even if it is policy they least they can do since I was told it would be applied correctly (one month payment with extra to prin.). They can at least do it as a courtesy and next time I know to make my payment THEN send the extra after it's been applied as opposed to sending it in one lump sum together.. Nope.

They have treated me like garbage. A rep has outright called me a liar about being told it would be applied to Aug due and the rest to prin. Hell, It's my money. They refuse to even refund it back to me even.

I don't want to be a customer of Amercredit anymore then they want me as a customer apparntly. I advise NO-ONE do business with them. This company, and other lenders with the same poor buisness practises are the reason so many hard working Americans are in so much financial trouble right now.

Instead of treating me like a deadbeat customer who doesn't pay his bills. Treat me with some respect since I've done it in return with making every payment on time since 2005 and maknig small extra payments which have never had a problem being applied correctly then (even though they was done online and this incident was sent as a check).

Amercredit is a horrible horrible company. They have horrible buisness practises and they treat their good customers worse them most collection agencies treat the deadbeats they try to collect money from.

I plan on refinancing out of this bank now that my credit as improves and Just want to let everyone know.

IF YOU PAY MORE TO PRINCIPAL ALONG WITH THE MONTHLY DUE.. NO NOT DO IT ALL TOGETHER.. FIRST PAY THE MONTH DUE. THEN WAIT FOR IT TO POST AND CLEAR.. THEN SEND IN YOUR EXTRA PINCIPAL PAYMENT..

Otherwise they will do what they did to me.

The last email I got was from Cassie Neighbors in the Legal Department of Amercredit who pretty much told me that I need to contact Collections or they will submit the file to have my car repossesed since Aug payment is not made.. The payment that was due 4 days ago. The payment that was already made with a $2, 064 check of my hard earned money.

Thank you Americredit for taking food from my kids mouth. Since I have no choice but to do something to make this payment do avoid my car being taken since I need that to get to work.

People instead of going through all this, since you've paid your account on time and never failed. you always have the option to refinance with another lender and get out of this Company. Just make sure you do not bad mouth them with your new lender. Or they will say "If that's the way he or she thinks of previous bank, What will they say about us". Once the consun=mer has paid their accounts good with Americredit the consumer has the right to re-finance with whom ever they want.

Americredit! What a joke! I have been a great customer for over 5 years, payments ON TIME...NOT ONCE LATE! I am trying to get a business loan and needed them to send me a payment history. I call and ask for the documents and they tell me that it takes 10-14 days before I received them...Long story short...It has been over three weeks now and I still DO NOT HAVE MY PAPERS! I have called the so called "customer service" for the past week asking where and when did they send these documents (THAT BELONG TO ME)? They claim that they had sent them over a week ago through the postal service and they have no control over what the postman does...THEY ARE LYING! DOES IT SERIOUSLY TAKE OVER A WEEK TO GET A LETTER FROM TEXAS TO OHIO? HELL NO! I receive packages from all over the country...PACKAGES, I say and it has never taken a week to arrive! The Americredit customer service department has treated me like I'm a deadbeat and a loafer as well as talk to me as though I have never made payments. They ignore questions, constantly interrupt, are disrespectful, and could really give 2 ### about helping anyone! They are just like so many other loan company's TAKE TAKE TAKE and never give you what you ask for as well as "PLAY f*%*ING stupid" when you ask for a simple task to be done. IT's amazing how smart they are when it comes to stealing and pilfering your money. NOTE: To anyone who is desperate or otherwise...never ever go with this company because they will treat you as the common criminal and KEEP all of your money no matter how good or bad you are as a customer!

They did the same thing to me. I keep paying my payments but... my balance never goes down. When I call them I just get a response that is uncalled for and never answers my question. No one is every available besides the umknowledgable person on the phone.

You are right this is a horrible company. FOR ANYONE THAT IS TRYING TO BUY A CAR, DO NOT PURCHASE THE CAR IF THE LOAN IS WITH AMERICREDIT. WAIT UNTIL YOU CAN GET A REAL BANK TO FINANCE YOUR LOAN! YOU CAN NEVER GET OUT FROM UNDER THEM AND THEIR UNETHICAL WAYS.

AmeriCredit Unsolicited phone calls

I have had a car with americredit for 3 years, My husband is in the military and he will be deploying in Sept he has also been on unemployment for a year since he came back from basic training. We got way behind on our payments and eventually realized we can't pay for it. I told americredit about 2 weeks ago I couldn't pay for it and they could come and get it. and they call me about 20 times a day from different numbers. I choose not to answer the phone because I already told them my intentions of not paying anymore because we can't afford it . well now they have went through the phone book and are calling my neighbors about my bill. the neighbors have been told they were needing to get ahold of us because my kids have been sick. or my phone was diconnected. I don't even know my neighbors phone number. Is this not illegal to contact neighbors who are not listed as refrences to talk about my bill I owe them? I owe alot of bills and this is the first time I have ever had a bill collector start calling neighbors listed in the phone book. I am looking into sueing them if this is possible someone please let me know what you think I should do, doesn't this violate hippa laws?

We also had the same experience with Americredit. We acquired the car in 2007 and had been making timely payments. My boyfriend was laid off of work and we set up payment arrangements to continue having the car. They would call us AT LEAST 15 per day and sometimes more. They also harrassed our friends, realitives and neighbors trying to contact us even after we had made our payment and refused to stop. The end result has been that they came to take our car away today, doubled the purchase price and the interest rate, and have made our lives miserable since day one. In my opinion, this company is a fraud and I hope that they get what is coming to them.

AmeriCredit Scam

I got a call too, and it looks as if we all have something in common. It seems that we all applied for a payday loan at some point. I would wager a guess that someone at CashNet/Sonic got a hold of a internet marketing warm call list from one of these companies and is now going to town. I do not believe that these conpanies know that they are being used. I am lucky, I never put in my correct information when I applied, as I knew that they would call to confirm the banking information over the phone and they would never check my social security number. I have not answered the phone yet when they have called, and will not engage them if possible. They will give up when they cannot confirm the validity of any of their phone numbers.

DO NOT GIVE ANYONE YOUR CORRECT BANKING INFORMATION OR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER! Keep a log of whom you applied with a wait for the phone call to confirm the information

My wifes work has received a phone call the past 3 days but it was after she had already left work. They said they were from the Crime Monitoring Division and his name was Jonathan Davis and he called from a Los Angeles area code [protected]. He said he was representing American Credit Services.

After multiple phone calls, which we answered no questions and they he wouldn't answer any either, we became frustrated. He said my wife took out a $200 loan on May 18th, 2008 and that if we didn't pay it back, my wife and her parents were going to jail tomorrow at 11am. The sheriffs department were coming to get her!

He sounded middle eastern and talked very fast and was rude. I mocked his accent (not a great idea-but i was ticked off!) and he got mad and hung up. If this scam happens to you, don't talk. If you live in the USA, you know the judicial system takes forever and that you would get papers first!

Anyway, since he sounded fake and wouldn't answer my questions, i checked the internet to find out and luckily i found this websit where hundreds of people had been through what we had! Im not an avid internet user, but if it weren't for it, i wouldn't have known this was a scam! For all of you who read this, take a breath and relax. ITS A SCAM!

AmeriCredit Called with a threat if I did not pay

I received a call on my cell phone from a guy telling me I would be taken to court unless I settled a payday loan from December 2008 for $300.00, today. I told this gentleman that I never took out a payday loan and he told me my SS#, bank account and home address and what day it was deposited. I did the research and did not find any such deposit and called them back and told them. They told me I would be arrested the same day for fraud unless I paid them.
Can't the Attorney Generals office take care of people like this?
