Dear Sir or Madam,
I had purchased a round trip coach ticket from Grand Rapids, MI to Chicago, IL on Amtrack for April 12 and return on April 15, 2024. I purchased the coach ticket 4/2/2024 for $62.10.
Since I have a bad back and legs and my knee will be replaced in October 2024 (I use a walker), I decided to upgrade my ticket to business class because I thought it would be a more comfortable ride. This is my first time on Amtrack. I was charged and additional $82.30 on April 4,2024 for the upgrade to business class for a total of $144.40.
My train had about 10 people on board. I was speaking to a gentleman across from me who also purchased a round trip coach ticket to Chicago, IL from Grand Rapids, MI he was also charged $62.10 for his coach ticket. He also upgraded to business and the charge for his upgrade was $20.00 for a total of $82.20.
I called customer relations and spoke Jackie employee number 2935 and she told me I would not get any refund today and that the ticket prices vary. She agreed to file a complaint for me Case #6777907. I feel I was overcharged I and I would like a refund of $62.30.
Sincerely,
Karyn Benson
Claimed loss: Overcharged for my upgrade from a coach ticket to a business class ticket.
Desired outcome: I would like a refund of $62.30 because I was charged that amount over what another passenger was charged for the same ticket under the same circumstances.
