Anishu Best That I've Found

I'm looking to replace Quicken with something that runs on my iPhone/iPad, and produces output I can send to my accountant at the end of the year. Though this is the best and most powerful app I found, it's not quite a full Quicken replacement.
The features that really set this app apart from the other apps, IMO, are the direct wireless OFX link to bank/credit card accounts. Many other apps support OFX, but you must download the file from your banking website and sync with iTunes. And the "family sync" is really nice. It keeps my iPhone and iPad in perfect sync, and my spouse can sync her iPhone as well so she can enter expense as she incurs them.
I've yet to determine if the output is sufficient for my accountants. As as others have mentioned, I'm not sure I can set up asset accounts (like my home and car) and associate debt accounts (like my house payment and car payment).
I too sincerely pray that this is an ongoing development and we'll see new features soon. I keep a list of feature suggestions for the apps I use daily and will be submitting my suggestions to the developers soon, so we'll see if I get a response.
Overall, I have yet to find what I believe will be a Quicken replacement, but this is by far the closest available on the iPhone,iPad.

Anishu Excellent

This app had evrything needed to successfully budget your finances on a month by month basis. You can create multiple accounts to track your checking, savings, and credit as well as any other accounts you have. Each purchase can have a receipt image saved to it. Bills can be tracked. You can also view your past history and the very important income/expendatures graph. Also, expense tracking is quick and easy.

Forthe bad reviews stating it's too long/complicated to set up, those people must be complete [censored]s or expect the app to come pre set up. Mine was completely set up in 30 minutes and that was after just downloading it and learning the interface.

Some suggestions for the developers:

1. More category icons like Gambling, concerts, video games, and that's just to name a few. I'm sure many users have some that they would really like to see, and not all of us are graphic artists.

2. A way to categorize your income a little better. If I am given a check to deposit for someone paying me back, thats not technically income.

3. A better way to track withdrawls an deposits in general, as some people like to manage that as well.

4. A return item feature linked to it's associated purchase. Currently there is no way to return an item other than deleting it from the purchase entry.

Anishu Don't bother

I've been using this App for 4 years and it has progressively gotten worse and worse. The "family user guide is 5 years old"
1. Devices won't sync with home device and very sporadic when they do
2. As to the calendar issue...you can't schedule anything after the 28th because of Feb. the app is to stupid to make exceptions for days in the month so it rolls anything over and you end up with a bunch of bills on the 1st.
3. It's not a user friendly app, recurring bill edit will cause duplicate entries and you will find yourself deleting 2 years worth of bills.
4. The infinite option doesn't work when creating a recurring bill, the bills won't show on the calendar. You have to give every bill a 2yr end date.
5. When your other IOS devices decide to sync they will send expense or bills paid to the home device but anything done on the home device won't reciprocate and your hand held won't update.
6. Don't even get me started on the PC version.
I could write 20 more issues but it's time to scrap this Java monster and start from scratch.
7. Don't bother trying to connect your bank as this company isn't associated so the banks will not let them access your accounts.
8. You can find ways to make everything work that's broken but you have to do it creatively vs using the apps features.

Keep looking, NOT AS ADVERTISED

Anishu Version 1.1 better hit SOON

intuitive except when putting in monthly entries. If you pick 1 month you don't get expense repeated. If you pick 12 months you get expense divided by 12 months instead of expense listed 12 times. Also no mass delete so I have to delete entire app to start over. Such BS really that no developer can make a good budgetting app. Do you people not test your crap before ripping customers off?--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------v1.04 reviewi of course deleted this app after it failed to do what it was supposed to do. but reinstalled it after seeing it got a version bump. somehow though, the recurring bill function STILL doesn't work. i just dont get it...i put in an expense and it only appears on the month i entered. then i put in the expense using the recurring function button and it doesn't put it in until the date i enter? how hard can it be to add the funtion of entering an expense and it just appears automatically EVERY SINGLE MONTH. how hard is that folks? the thing that gets me the most is this doesn't take a genius to figure out. why would developers who obviously have no idea about money, finance and budgetting make an app like this?

Anishu Great app - nice price too!

This app was released very recently (Feb. 27 and I am writing on Mar. 2) - and only one other person had reviewed it at the time I found it. I looked around at the screenshots and the website and decided to give it a go. I am very pleased with the result so far.The app allows you to track what you spend in as many sub-categories as you'd like. You can also set up a budget so you can see whether you're overspending or not, and you can include your income as well. This is just a daily tracker for me, so I'm not doing the income piece - and therefore, can't review it here. The navigation is user-friendly and intuitive. Using the five buttons at the bottom of the screen, you can get wherever you need to go quickly. The charts are really nice too. The developers' write-up/app description in the iTunes store was great, and I had no problem figuring out how things worked. The search looks at the expense titles and the notes (you have the ability to include notes/descriptions about each expense you enter). The only reason I'm giving it four stars and not five is that I've only been using it for one day and as such, I really haven't 'put it to the test' yet. But I'm very happy with the functionality I have now - it's as good as, and probably even better than some other budget-tracking apps that cost a bit more.

Anishu I want to give this 5 stars, but

there are a few improvements that need to be made before I could do that.

1) The ability to split transactions. This is such a basic feature of any checkbook type program that it is a huge oversight not to have it.

2) I need to be able to make sure that the amount I'm budgeting by category does not exceed the amount I actually have as income. It would be ideal to set the overall budget, and then as you set the budgets for the categories/subcategories, the amount remaining is shown.

3) The ability to add one-time income amounts into the budget. Things like birthday money, overtime, tax refunds and bonuses can be added to the accounts, but there is no way to allocate them into the budget.

4) The option to transfer money between budget categories. If at the end of the pay period, I have overspent in any category, those funds have to come from somewhere, which means they need to be taken from another category where you have extra.

There are other more minor improvements I would like to see, but these 4 are the ones that keep me from rating this app higher. This really IS the best budgeting app I have tried, and presents the information in a way that is most relevant to me, BUT these issues are ones that keep me hitting a wall as far as usability goes. I'd say this app is 90% there... these adjustments would make it nearly perfect.

Anishu Everything I needed except a more automated reconciliation process

After twelve years of marriage, I was finally thinking that perhaps I now could replace my paper ledgers for my checking and savings accounts. With HomeBudget, I found for a way to have both of us to enter expenses on my Mac or our iPhones or iPads and have them synchronize. The Family Sync feature works well, uses minimal data, and does not drain the battery in the background. For security reasons, I did not want the mobile devices connected to the bank accounts, so I wanted to import OFX files and any other transactions manually. HomeBudget provides those features with a simple interface for entering expenses. If you do not want to enter your expenses manually, then you can import an OFX file and convert them into an expenses. Also, since you need to assign a budget category for each expense, you can see where your money is being spent.

Reconciliation still requires manually checking for incorrectly entered expenses, forgotten expenses, and expenses not yet cleared. HomeBudget allows an easy entry of a detected forgotten transaction, but the other steps still seem to be manual. I manually compare unreconciled expenses on my iPad against the latest OFX import on my Mac. When processing imported OFX transactions one-by-one, I think that adding a selection to reconcile what HomeBudget proposes as an already existing expense would be very helpful.

Anishu Amazing but maybe you can incorporate these items:

I absolutely love this program! There is nothing better. The company is always upgrading and the listen. I do have a couple of suggestions for upgrades.

When you spread out a purchase over more than one month, can you show the total purchase price on the original entry. Currently I hand write the amount in the notes. The amount that goes through the actual account works great. Just want to be able to see the total purchase price on the entry so I can match to accounts when reconcile and not forget that I split it up. As it is now, I have to remember that I split the expense up over a couple of months or a year.

If I have to delete an expense, it subtracts just fine in the accounts. However, each of the split up expenses become a separate entry. To back it out of these records, I have to go back and delete it off of the expenses each month until they are gone. This is tedious and makes it difficult to be accurate. It deletes it from accounts as it should so there is absolutely no problem there.

On family sync, my 15 year old son has his first checking account. I want to have him use family sync but I don't want him to have access to my accounts, expenses, etc. I want him to only see his own account, budget, expense, and income entries. is that a possible upgrade?

I hope these suggestions are things that you could consider improving on.

Anishu HomeBudget (2.5 stars)

HomeBudget as the name implied was supposed to be for managing budgets. I have combed the manuals and thought the app was great at first but the more I use it the more I am disappointed. The app is great for reminding of current/future bills (you can add recurring bills by the way), it is great for tracking expenses and also if you are using the one budget feature. The problem that I have with the app is that the budget feature has many glitches if you use it to track categories. You are supposed to be able to enter one time budget amounts but depending on when the statement date is set the override numbers change randomly, if you have quarterly, semi annual or annual bills that you pay at one time the app breaks the amount up over the months following the due date. I thought I was purchasing a budget app and this was the best that I thought was out there but I found out it has many flaws just like all the others but you don't find out until you start using the app.
Tech support was great when I initially purchased the app, now I don't get any responses when I ask them questions about issues!
If you are looking for an app to help you track expenses, give you a bill reminder or you use one set amount to budget and don't categorize HomeBudget is the app for you. If you need a solution that accurately allows you to track budget info and provides technical support then look elsewhere.

Anishu Best budget app by far!

I can't say enough about this app!

I have tried a number of different budget apps over the years, and this is the most sophisticated, comprehensive app by far. The syncing ability allows for my husband and I to update our finances in realtime across iPhone and iPad platforms. The budgeting feature is very customizable, and allows for recurring expenses and deposits to be assigned to budget categories.

The reports feature gives you some fantastic charts and graphs to help you easily visualize your financial profile and see where you are spending your money. It also quickly shows you how much you are saving. And it can export your finances (with or without your receipts) in a breeze.

The accounts feature is a virtual account center, where you can reconcile your expenses against your various accounts. We personally don't like apps that link directly to our bank accounts (security concerns) but we like having our account info all in one place. There is limited ability to link this app with your bank.

The convenience factor is the best. As soon as you incur an expense, it takes only seconds to log it into home budget through the iPhone or iPad. You can even link a picture of the receipt to the expense, and export your data to excel and other programs.

Spread the word about this app because it is an invaluable tool. I use it constantly, and it never stops impressing me! Keep up the good work developers!

Anishu All my this. <3

Seriously. This app saved my marriage. No, I'm not BSing you.
Aimee and I have always been on a crusade to save the economy by dumping all our cash into it.

But now we are trying to save up for a baby, get our credit repaired, and basically, at 35 (both of us), it is time to be responsible adults.

This app has everything. We can budget all our accounts, our credit cards, my 15 year old's allowance; we can budget for savings on the baby, save up for a new car, and have all our bills paid on time.

But that's not all. Are you in a house full of roomates? You can have multiple groups, so the household can budget as a collective, and you can budget yourself.

You and the wife wanna keep your cash separate? Make a "his", a "hers", and a household budget, for bills and repairs.

It is virtually unlimited in capability!
Seriously.
Then you can pull up charts and all that stuff to see if your spending habits change by the week, month, quarter, and year.

The learning curve wasn't too bad. My wife only had to show me how to use this thing once, and I figured out the extras on my own.

Of course, you MUST enter your purchases for it to be accurate, but if you can make it a habit, you will have much better control of your finances with this app.

Imagine quicken books for your LIFE, on your phone, which syncs with your family members.

Hell yeah. I actually have money in savings now. First time in 35 years, lol.
This app has saved me from myself!

To the maker or team behind this app, you rock!

Anishu Good but can use improvemnt

This app does 90% of what I want it to do. It is very comprehensive and does a great job of giving you a snapshot of your accounts, budget, and income making it easy to see one one screen if you’re trending to meet your budget or are are trending to be over or under. Opportunities for improvement: Add the ability to budget income in the same way as expenses (with a category) as well as expenses for zero balance budgeting (assigning every penny earned to a budget category so every penny does a job) Allow for transfers between accounts to be marked with a category. So you can budget a transfer as savings in a zero balance budget. Allow a category for “do not include in budget reports”. The interface is complicated. One has to go through three screens deep to record transaction when there should be only one. It’s counterintuitive. For a budget override, for example, you have to hit save on the third screen, go back to the second screen where “save” is now grayed out, and you have to select “cancel”. It does record the override this way, but it’s counterintuitive on inefficient. Allow a field in expenses for those admittedly rare occasions you want to record a check number. Recurring transactions automatically record immediately, not on the future dates throwing off account balances on the Home Screen, making them useless. Don’t use white text on bright yellow in a pie chart. It’s illegible. This app has A LOT of potential should they make these corrections. Without them, the app is useful, but falls short. Still, it does more than other budgeting or check register apps.

Anishu Going into 3rd year using and it is THE BEST app I've used

I love this app. It was instrumental in getting my finances on track a couple years ago when I wanted to buy a house. The calendar and red, green and blue circles on dates/bills due are so simple and make it so easy to see at a glance what you need to take care of and what is paid. The family sync is great. When on the go I load all purchases into my phone but usually pay bills on my iPad. The app sync's the 2 devices keeping my e-checkbook constantly up to date. Every time I have found something in the app that could have been improved on, it was usually resolved w the next update. Developers are constantly working to make this already wonderful app, work better.

One thing I've noticed is that if you enter a reoccurring bill and make it "indefinite", it does not offer the option to "enter future entries now or on due date" and therefore it does not include it into the monthly bill budget total. This is so not helpful in monthly budgeting. The only way around it is to enter all bills in w an end date but that means they will fall off the calendar before I'm done paying something off. I would like to see the option to include future entries now/due date available for indefinite bills also. From reading other reviews, I'm not the only one w a sad face about that. Maybe the next update will resolve it? :)

Also, an option to make a transfer to the "cash" account while entering an expense would be great. This would help when reconciling accounts. Right now if I take cash back at a store, I have to enter them as 2 separate transactions. Then they make no sense when reconciling as they don't match bank statements.

Otherwise, best money ever spent on an app! Strong work!

Anishu Very good for managing a home budget

I used to use two apps to manage my checkbook and budget, this app successfully replaces both, and integrates the functions so there's less work involved, and therefore less mistakes.

It's not difficult to use, but reading the entire 43 page manual is highly recommended in my view. There are good tips in the manual that make things easier as well as information about some of the less intuitive features and when to use them, such as recurring transfers and recurring bills.

I like the way this program allows you to start off as simple as you like, i.e., you can just use it as a checkbook with expense tracking to start. Later you can decide to use accounts, payees and bills for a more thorough accounting of your finances. This made it easy for me to transition from my other apps to this one.

I gave it only four stars instead of five because I don't like the sync feature. Based on what the manual says the company reserves the right to charge for this feature in the future. The app is called Home Budget with Sync, so it's not to much to ask to get the "sync" part without having to pay more.

Additionally, I don't like the idea of my financial data being on done server out there. So, as a result, I don't put account numbers in my Payee records.

Besides, I'm sure syncing could be accomplished through Dropbox. I have other apps that do that. This one only does backups and restorations through Dropbox.

The sync is thus a little dicey, but still a great app. I hope I don't have to delete it in the future if they decide to charge for this very important feature.

I've also used a couple of other apps, but this one is the most intuitive I've encountered. I haven't tried using it for my small business, but it is conceivable. This app is very flexible.

Reading the manual will pay huge dividends with this app, so if you buy it, take 30 minutes to understand it.

Anishu Very good app

I've been using the Lite version for two months now and have found that I really like this app. I use to use Pageonce before using this app, but something about having all my important information in one area didn't sit right with me. Especially after what happened with Sony. Pageonce can claim whatever they want... until it happens. If you've never tried this app I'd suggest getting the lite version before making the financial investment.

This app works great if you don't mind manually entering your accounts and bills. It also supports importing data from some files but I haven't tried that. The paid version works exactly like the free version without the restriction on the number of expenses and accounts. It supports setting up one time and reoccurring bills. Adding a list of Payees. Adding a list of accounts (bank, car loan, etc.). It also supports transfers should you want to setup a bill as a transfer from one account to another; ex, bank to car loan. You can see projections, graphs, and look at expenses for previous months in list or calendar view. You can also password protect the app such that a password is required every time the app is launched, even if it's running in the background then brought back to the foreground.

There are three things that I wish this app could do.
1. Show reoccurring bills for the next month as a minimum.
- the app does onto show a reoccurring bill for the next month until the bill is paid or past it's due date for the current month.
2. Add automatic bill pay.
- in this day and age a lot of bills are paid automatically. As a budgeting app I can't see how this was not in there.
3. Give more alerts and the user control of their alerts.
- it would be nice to know when by account balance is at a certain level, etc.

It could be that i haven't played enough with this app, so I'll update my review as I find more things.

Anishu Really well done

This sw very easy to set up, much easier than older accounting sw. We used to keep our budget on a spreadsheet, yet it required massive data entry from the pile of expense chits- gas, fast food, etc we brot home every week, this way both of us can d-enter when we spend, much easier. I bot this mostly for the family synch feature as my wife and I share the our Household account, now we can see where we are, when both of us r spending. specially as u get low in funds, it is critical that the other doesn't go out and buy something expensive-oops overdraw. Reports and charts are easy to read and clear. I asked a few questions of support and got answers back quick, mostly related to me not reading the user guide, so try to do that first, it will save u time and make startup easy and quick. I looked back and it is clear the developer is upgrading the app, good for users. Given the real cost of accounting and finance sw is the learning and set up time, this app is very good. Older reviews may be talking about problems fixd in latest sw, I had no problem setting up categories and deleting the exp items I put in as practice. I understand the free app is crippled, why would I expect a detailed accounting app like this to be free, so get the lite app, play with it to see if it works for u- with your expenses and categories, then spend $5 for the paid app, Take a look at what home accounting sw costs for your mac/pc-big bucks- and difficult to set up and use,and no way to do chit data entry out of the office, $5 is cheap given what it does, clearly pays for itself if it eliminates 1 bank overdraw fee over the next year or so.
I upgraded to the paid app for me and my wife, upgrade worked perfectly, now latest data on both iphones. Buyers have to understand the lite version is really only to play with to see if it fits what u are trying to do, so slamming it for have the restrictions isn't really smart. Having the lite gives u the ability to check it out, most other apps dont let you do that. Read the manuals first, then read all the i buttons in the software and you will be up and running in a very short time.

Anishu Good so far. Few minor gripes

I've had the app less than 24 hours but have worked with it pretty heavily so far. This is a good all-around home budgeting, personal finance tracker that has many features. I bought this primarily because of the family sync function but won't be able to test this till later and I'm hopeful it works well. My primary issues with the app are mostly UI related. The app feels kind of awkward at times. I did 3 months history to give myself a good baseline for my budgets and it took me nearly 6 hours to completely enter and reconcile expense transactions. Landscape mode would have been helpful.

The icons are pretty generic (though you can upload your own for categories) and the drop down arrows are difficult to hit especially if you have big fingers and/or a big case that wraps around the edges. You should be able to tap the entire row to expand the lists under each category. Also, if you have a long list of expenses or other items, the last entry is hidden halfway behind the bottom menu bar. While scrolling through the sub-categories the top items can be seen behind the category header.

While there are decent reports available, you need to go through 3-5 different report menus to view them all; each report should be accessible from a main menu page. The ability to change the date range from each report page would be nice too rather than going all the way back to the first report to change it, then back 4 pages to get where you were. Would be nice if forecast had the budget included in its lists and if it had more graph options like the reports rather than just a simple line graph. I also think it would be nice if there was a calendar that combines both recurring expenses and recurring bills rather than just one for recurring bills; it's nice to see everything in one spot (currently no calendar for expenses only bills.)

Once you save an expense transaction, you can not go back in and split the transaction. This would be a very useful feature: if you don't have time to enter the details at the time of the transaction, you could snap a picture of the receipt and fine tune the details later making the image feature more relevant. Last thing I would like to see would be the ability to add individual payees when splitting a transaction - useful for like credit card payments when not tracking the credit card in HomeBudget separately.

Ultimately however, this is a robust app and, assuming the family sync works as advertised, is worth the money. My wife never handles the accounts and spends blindly. This will help her stay informed and up to date so we can meet our budgetary goals. Buy with confidence!

Anishu End all of budgeting software

I don't understand why this app isn't at the very top of the list. This app is the ultimate end all of budgeting software. If you're looking for a check ledger, debt manager, bill reminder, budget developing, account tracking software that automatically and instantly syncs across multiple devices and users then you've found the right app.

I used to use several apps for my home budget. I had one app that did the actual budget and planning of expenses. I had another app that acted as a check ledger for my checking and savings accounts. And I had a third app that was a calendar with my bills listed on it and I could keep track of what was paid, what was due, etc. I got tired of using three different apps to keep track of my money- especially when my wife was using the same apps in an effort to manage our money together. This was always time consuming and frustrating. Especially when her numbers didn't add up to mine and we would have to sit down and go through each expense to find out what one of us missed. Those days are looong gone.

I spent a week or so testing out various budgeting apps on the marketplace. None of them did everything I needed them to do. One was a budget, another was a ledger- only a couple actually did both. Even the ones that came close to meeting my needs didn't immediately win me over. Most of them were ugly to look at and some were flat out too confusing or not user friendly. Then I found HomeBudget.

HomeBudget does EVERYTHING I was looking for! It even looks beautiful too. The features, functions, design, and interface is second to none. I can set my monthly budget by creating different categories and assigning them values, I can keep track of my checking and savings accounts, I can see a calendar and/or a list view of my bills, the same goes for my expenses. I can keep track of my debts, lenders, and places where I spend money. Every expense gets allocated to a category set up in your budget. You can easily see your income, expenses, debt to income ratio, a pie chart of where your money is going, and the app will actually forecast future projections based on how your spending now. You can set up recurring transactions and transfers and manage every aspect of your assets. This app seriously does everything! And it's so easy to use and beautiful to look at! This is still an excellent app even if you don't use all the features to keep track of your money- but why wouldn't you use all the amazing features?!

I almost forgot the best part: IT AUTOMATICALLY SYNS BETWEEN DIFFERENT DEVICES AND DIFFERENT USERS! When I spend money and record the expense in the budget- it automatically and instantly syncs that transaction on my wife's phone without her having to do anything and vice versa! That way our information is ways accurate! No more checking to make sure were on the same page- it's all done automatically!

This is an AMAZING app! For anyone just starting out in personal finance or if your the person who loves to control every aspect of your money like me- Do yourself a favor and get this app NOW!

Anishu New update bummer

10/26-new update messed up my bills again. Way to take care of your paying customers!

10/21- was loving this program but the new update messed up my bills. Bummer, took me a long time to set them up. Why put out an update thats worse?

10/19 Have this on my wife's and my phone, incredibly useful for managing our accounts, budgeting, etc. One awesome thing that's seldom mentioned is the excellent reporting by email. I agree, would be great to be able to split expenses. Also would be nice if it were easier to add a transaction while you're reconciling your accounts. If you find something in a statement that you forgot to enter, you gotta go way back to put it in. Overall great app, very robust.

Anishu Dave Ramsey Fans this is the App for you

I was looking for something for my Iphone that I could use for my husband and I who have recently begun Dave Ramey's Total Money Makeover. I wanted something like envelopes but for my Iphone. I tried the free trial first and boy this is the App I have been searching for. I can set up a sinking funds account, keep track of what I put in baby step 1 and so much else. I love that each of our Iphones can be synced to the same account so when my husband gets gas out of his "gas for work envelope" he can mark it out and deduct it from the proper account. No more asking him to text me when he gets gas so I can write it out of the envelope. This way I can log into our account and see that he got gas. Defintely worth the money!

Anishu This app use to be useful. Now it's useless

Previously I would have given this app 5 stars. The ability to track multiple accounts, recurring bills, etc was amazing coupled with the fact that I could directly import my bank transactions and simply categorize them with a few taps of the screen. To top it off, it synced between my 3 Apple devices!

HOWEVER, sometime in the last year there was an update that basically has destroyed any ability whatsoever to link my bank account to the APP, this was probably my favorite feature, and now every time I try to relink it I receive an ERROR message. I've become more than frustrated, and wish that an update would be done to correct this issue. I emailed the developer months ago with no response. So for now, 2 stars is a stretch.

Anishu earns a trustworthiness rating of 91%

Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.

Our conclusion: After a detailed review, ComplaintsBoard finds Anishu to be a trustworthy company. • Anishu.com has relatively low traffic compared to other websites, it could be due to a niche focus, but could also indicate a potential lack of traffic and popularity. The anishu.com may offer a niche product or service that is only of interest to a smaller audience.
  • We detected that anishu.com is missing an SSL certificate, which is a cause for concern. Without an SSL certificate, the website may not be taking adequate steps to protect users' sensitive information. This can increase the risk of intercepted data being used for malicious purposes.

Anishu I want my money back

Main complaint: no way of entering individual descriptions for transactions. This app could be very useful, but it's too complex to use on the fly. I appreciate an app that is simple and clean without too many bells and whistles. I was looking for a way to maintain an electronic checkbook for my husband and I, but this app doesn't allow you to enter the name of the business/vendor you made a purchase from. When entering an expense, you have to select category/sub category and can't enter anything else. You also can't view a rolling list of expenses. I found myself too frustrated to use it and gave up. If you're looking for a simple way to keep track of your finances and share that information with a sig. other/etc., this is not it.

Anishu Kinda pointless

Though the app does keep track of your expenses and account balances ect, you have to go in a manually add or subtract things from each of the budgeting categories. For example just because you put $20 down for gas within expenses on your credit card, it doesn't subtract that amount from the amount you listed on your credit card under the accounts category. This app is cute and colorful however I am constantly correcting totals and what ever else I've noticed. It doesn't do a good job at keeping track of things. I wanted something more advanced than a categorizer and calculator. Where is the debt forecasts, automatic notifications of bills, reminders, saving projections and the ability to have all my accounts linKed to one app so I can manage everything in one place?

Anishu Sync ha! Be prepared to lose transactions

My husband & I got this app last summer thinking it was a good way to both see what was going on. The first couple months were good a few minor glitches, but lately I have missing transactions. I balance my checkbook at least 1 a week and put a ✔️In the notes so I know where I last balanced. Ill open the app & suddenly I'm off by 1.20 or .30. I added an over/short field & guess what 2 weeks later I'll be over 1.20 or .30! ANNOYING! Last week I was missing $140! After 4 hours I found it in NOVEMBER! Oh yes it "disappeared". Sync is terrible...my husband will add a transaction that doesn't show up for days! Then I add it n oops now it duplicates! I emailed & get told to send initial data again...how many times do I have to do this?! Weekly? What's the point...very disappointed.

Anishu Really Quirky

For the $20 I ended up paying for the PC app and the iPhone app its just not really worth it. There are different screens for recurring expense, 1 time expenses, bills, budget, income, etc, it just doesn't need to be that complicated folks. You cannot change the amount/date of a single instance of a recurring expense(IE a montly bill that can vary in amount), and they also don't show up in the expense list until the date for the recurring expense passes. All you really need is one screen showing all income and expenses together, with an option to make expenses recurring in the background, but you also have to have the option of changing each individual instance of an expense/income without affecting the entire series. I can kind of work my way around the quirks but it is annoying at best.

Anishu Useful, but be wary of Dropbox sync

Regardless of how secure the path to Dropbox is, once your data is there, only Dropbox has the encryption key, and they will decrypt and give you data to any agency with a warrant, per their privacy policy.

With Dropbox's security challenges the last year, I'd be concerned about putting any sensitive data there that had not been pre-encrypted before transmission to Dropbox.

The HomeBudget developer states that "There is no additional encryption when storing data on Dropbox. The data stored on Dropbox identical to a regular HomeBudget backup taken over email or wifi", but he declined to comment on the 'default' type/level of security applied to email or wifi backups.

I'm taking a pass on Dropbox sync. until the developer is more forthcoming about the security of my financial data when placed on what I consider to be an insecure site.

Anishu Amazingly Disappointing!

This app has incredible potential! The versatility of the application allows you to see budget reports, complete with graphs and pie charts, an exciting interface with great functionality, however, it's lacking the MOST important feature, especially for an app that is $5!

There is NO live sync to bank accounts and credit cards. I misunderstood the title of this app to mean that I could link it to my financial accounts and it would automatically load the information into my handheld, but it doesn't. Everything must be entered manually, updated, and reconciled manually. This was a HUGE disappointment when I realized that.

If I wanted accounting software I would have bought quickbooks. Even though it's limited, at least Mint has the tech savvy to sync the app to your financial accounts.

If you add that feature to this app, it would be unstoppable!

Anishu Budget feature needs more options

If you're looking for an app that allows you to set your budget based on a bi-weekly pay period DO NOT purchase this app! For all the bells and whistles it offers, especially the sync option, only allowing users to budget monthly when everything else is weekly, bi-weekly, etc., is ridiculous! My husband and I both purchased it, wasting $9.98, thinking we could set our budget to coincide with our pay checks and use the sync option. Then, after attempting to set it up and reading through it's 42 page manual we discovered that they only offer monthly budgeting at this time. In the meantime, we purchased Ace Budget for $.99 each and can customize our budget the way we want it and share our transaction thru email links. If HumeBudget makes that change I may go back to it and will change my review. It is also very confusing to set up. Download the manual and read through it before you purchase.

Anishu Interesting approach; confusing, and not very useful

Two stars for effort. The developer put a lot of "features" into the app, but didn't integrate them very well. I don't like how the budget is separated from income and expenses. A budget should be a set of prospective income and expenses. Bills are also separated from expenses, and the budget so that you have to enter your budgeted expenses into your budget and then enter them again if they're a bill, or if you want them listed as an expense once it's been paid. Frankly this app would be far more useful if it were simplified into a budget (including income and expenses) that the user could simply compare to their actual spending. In other words a prospective budget and actual spending.

It would be easy to add bill reminders within the budget, rather than creating separate area, with separate functionality, for bills.

I'm yet to find a simple, elegant, budget and forecasting app. This was yet another waste if money unfortunately.

Anishu Would be great if it worked as described

I was hoping to finally find a budgeting app that updated all my IOS devices along with my home PC with one entry. I started using this app for all my budget input only to find it doesn't quite measure up to what it says it will do. The app is cumbersome to use. It doesn't sync well with all devices in any real time. In addition, it seems to be so buggy, that the chances of your accounts and entered information being correct is virtually impossible. I have had the app show bills were not paid when they were, multiple times. Add income 3 and 4 times. Along with numerous other issues. Hopefully someday it will actually work as it is supposed to.. meanwhile I have to spend 2 days going back to my old apps and recreating all my financial info to get accurate information. After spending the money for both the app and the Windows software, very disappointed. If yiu are looking for someting to work on all platforms, I would wait. This just isn't there yet.

Anishu Too many missing features

Like another user, I also felt compelled to find another budgeting app after iOS 7 really curtailed Pocketmoney’s
features, but unlike him, I’m not so happy with my purchase of Homebudget with sysnc. Homebudget lacks many of the features found in Pocketmoney. For instance, Homebudget lacks the ability to
incorporate the funds transfer feature into a working budget (transfers lack category fields, which are an essential feature to create your budget). This alone (in my view) renders this feature completely useless. Because of this shortcoming it is practically impossible to use a transfer to deduct the principal amount from a checking account and transfer
it to a mortgage account where the amount is subtracted from a mortgage account balance. Likewise, the same applies to credit card payments (I should be able to split principal and interest transfer amounts). Lack of transaction
data auto-completion as you type, inability to remember previous date fields, and no means to duplicate identical transactions are among other app shortcomings.
On the other hand, the Homebudget’s sync feature far exceeds Pocketmoney’s sync capabilities.

Anishu Try the Light Version First!

I dont like this app. It promises everything but does nothing. I only browsed through the light version before deciding to buy the full version but i should have used it and started to plug things in first because it would have saved me $5.00. Does not give you a yearly total of your expenses. Does not allow you to plug in recurring payments with a start date earlier than when you start using the app so u have to go to each month manually and fill it in. Does not allow you to organize your expenses it depends on whatever you plug in first (so if u want to see your mortgage payments at the top of the months list you have to delete everything you have already entered in for that month and start over from the beginning with your mortgage payment being the first expense to plug in). Does not allow you to even add up your expenses for a yearly total by yourself. Very disappointed that there is no yearly total function! Dont like the way the monthly expense page is set up. If your looking at month of July but need to see your expenses for January you have to hit the back button until you reach jan. Once again very disappointed about not letting you see your yearly totals. Waste of $5 and my own fault for not truly using the light version first.

Anishu Sync is not reliable

I have to manually reconcile the accounts between my two devices. The reason I paid for this was for the syncing. So I feel ripped off.

Anishu Sync Issues

I was looking for an all in one app so I chose this budget app. I have been using this app for two months and the sync issues are bad. It duplicates entries and the last straw reverting back to a previous sync messing up my device that had things correct. Too complicated to fix. I rather use multiple programs that sync.

Anishu Doesn't Sync with iPhone 6s

My husband and I had this app with our iPhone 5s' and the sync worked really well. When we upgraded last summer the sync function didn't work. I've tried to sync is many times and it doesn't work. We continue to use the computer version as a way to balance our accounts and see how much is coming in and going out each month. We like it for this reason. However, we purchased this app with the sync so we could use it on the go to communicate our spending and use the budget.

Developers: please fix this problem with sync feature on iPhone 6s. Thank you
