There is no way to cancel at website. I allowed my friend to search a death date which was not found. I literally searched forv3 days for a way to cancel the free trial. I was charged by PayPal and then canceled on the 4th. I was charged on the 3rd. I never used the service other than the 1 time my friend did and was basically told thanks for your $9.99, we don't care if you want it, use it or find it useless. There's a reason the cancelation process us difficult. They are profiting by forcing subscriptions people don't want. There are complaints all over the internet.
Claimed loss: $9.99
Desired outcome: REFUND
Confidential Information Hidden: This section contains confidential information visible to verified Archives.com representatives only. If you are affiliated with Archives.com, please claim your business to access these details.

it's a scam to get the $9.99 renewal
there's no where on site to cancel until after your billed. They don't care if you used the service. Scam!
Death Certificate
I requested and purchased a copy of my mother’s death certificate on August 23rd and have not received any correspondence after the payment (through PayPal) went through and as of September 14th I have not received a copy of the death certificate I had paid for. I should have just did this through county resources in the city I live in and skipped Archives.com altogether.
Desired outcome: A refund.
Obtaining 2 death certificates
I purchased 2 death certificates for genealogy reasons on aug. 9th, all the correspondence that I receive requests additionall information needs to be sent. They never say what additional info is needed! I have sent in all the requested documentation; birth certificate, passport, etc
The reason I chose archives.com was to expedite the process even though the cost was 3+x the amount that usvitals charge.
What a waste of time!
Desired outcome: Refund of 2 death certificates
Is Archives.com Legit?
Archives.com earns a trustworthiness rating of 91%
Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.
We found clear and detailed contact information for Archives.com. The company provides a physical address, phone number, and 2 emails, as well as 2 social media accounts. This demonstrates a commitment to customer service and transparency, which is a positive sign for building trust with customers.
Archives.com has a valid SSL certificate, which indicates that the website is secure and trustworthy. Look for the padlock icon in the browser and the "https" prefix in the URL to confirm that the website is using SSL.
Archives.com has been deemed safe to visit, as it is protected by a cloud-based cybersecurity solution that uses the Domain Name System (DNS) to help protect networks from online threats.
We looked up Archives.com and found that the website is receiving a high amount of traffic. This could be a sign of a popular and trustworthy website, but it is still important to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of the site before sharing any personal or financial information
However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- While Archives.com has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. As a result, only 18% of 43 complaints are resolved. The support team may have poor customer service skills, lack of training, or not be well-equipped to handle customer complaints.
- Archives.com protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.
- We conducted a search on social media and found several negative reviews related to Archives.com. These reviews may indicate issues with the company's products, services, or customer support. It is important to thoroughly research the company and its offerings before making any purchases to avoid any potential risks.

Thank you!
To date I have still not received any certificate and they fail to respond!

Unauthorized charges
Months after creating an account with Archives.com on January 29, 2023. I was charged $9.99 randomly and don't know why. From what I remember I closed my account and very confused by the fact that it's still active. I need a refund and confirmation of the cancellation of the subscription (that I don't know how was started) and the account closed completely.
Archives.com
I never signed up for the service, they've been charging me since July 23rd,2022. I don't even have an E-mail from them, my account has no information in it except my biological birth mother. My account history inside of Archives.com says I was only charged once in 2021, and there's no record of them charging me 6 times.
July 23rd 2022 9.99
August 23rd 2022 9.99
September 23rd 9.99
October 23rd 9.99
November 23rd 9.99
December 23rd 9.99
There is no button to cancel my membership, and there is no listed history of my account being charged.
Desired outcome: a refund for the 6 months they charged me for a service I haven't used.
“Free” 14-day trial
I signed up on Oct 18 for a free 14-day trial. I opted to also try out Newspapers.com along with my membership.
I received an email from Newspapers.com stating I signed up for a trial on Oct 18, and would be charged $49.95 on Oct 18! Thankfully this charge didn’t happen, so I thought it must be a glitch in their email system. The email only said I had a trial, not specifically how long the trial was for. My newspaper.com account information did not specify a length of my trial either, or a billing date. It said for billing information, go to my archives.com account.
I quickly checked my Archives account, where it clearly said I had a 14-day trial membership, and 14-day Newspapers.com trial.
On Oct 25 at 8:00 PM, I received an email from Newspapers.com stating I would be charged for a one year membership on Oct 26. I went to my newspaper.com account to cancel, but it said I had to cancel through Archives.com. So I signed into my archives account and cancelled my trial with them. There wasn’t even a separate place to cancel only the newspaper.com membership.
After cancelling with Archives (around 10:30 PM son Oct 25), I checked my bank account to find that I was ALREADY charged $49.95 by Archives.com for my newspaper membership.
I sent a complaint which was responded to saying they successfully cancelled my membership. But that was not what I complained about, I had complained about being charged early before the end of what was supposed to be a 14-day trial. I sent another email stating this, which was ignored.
So I called. Customer service looked at my account and “as a one time courtesy” I was told they would refund my charge. How is it a courtesy to return something they shouldn’t have taken in the first place?
There is no way to remove my card information from my account either, which is ridiculous. I don’t want this website to have access to my money anymore. I canceled my membership, why can’t I delete my card info?!
They responded to my email recently (AFTER I resolved the issue by phone) and stated the Newspaper trial was for one week only…. Yet my account page CLEARLY says 14-day trial.
Very deceptive and sneaky business practices. I imagine they’ve collected quite a lot of money from unsuspecting people.
Archives account cancellation and refund
I emailed the company last month or the month before that I can't remember i will look though, and I wanted to cancel the subscription and get a refund for any money taken because Im not going to pay for something I'm never going to use and I haven't used. If you feel the need to keep my money for nothing then your consider a thief if you ask me because if I'm not using what your selling and I haven't used it then your pretty much just stealing my money. Now once again please cancel the subscription and give me my money back please. Thank you. My name is Angela Ulmer, [protected]@gmail. com. Just give me my money back because I won't stop contacting you until you do. Better yet I might just have my lawyer contact the company.
Desired outcome: Cancel subscription and get my money back ASAP it doesn't take but a second for you to take my money but it takes 5-7 business days to give it back

Ordered copies of marriage license
Ordered copies of my parent's marriage license. A couple of weeks goes by, nothing. I contact Ancestry, they tell me i have to contact a company USAvitals. They acted like there were never involved in the transaction at all. Contacted a few times, i told they they were the ones that recieved payment, and they kept telling me to reach out to USAvitals.
Desired outcome: I reached out to my credit card company to investigate for my money back.
Records Search
Archives .com seems to be another Scam Website intent on profiting off the Public's dire intention to find the Truth.
This is a waste of $14.99 each month when it proved it couldn't provide any helpful service in 30 minutes.
Desired outcome: Refund
Unable to access site.
I have two different accounts/order numbers listed for my Archives.com site that I applied for. I have not been able to access this site at all. I just wanted it for a year to try and they gave me the two order numbers and said it was until 11/2023. Could you please look into this for me. Would it help if I give you the order numbers. I want these cancelled if I cannot access the site.
Cancel subscription
Micheala Hamm (UK) being charged £8.95 a month - I have been trying to cancel this subscription for months and months. It's not possible to cancel online as it throws you out of the system. I have now tried to log back into Archives.com and reset my password however the e-mail does not arrive. I have tried calling the phone number provided and when you select subscription it cuts off which I believe is against the law. [protected]. I have contacted my bank also . Furthermore as a result of not being able to contact Archives I am going to the Financial Ombudsman Service. It's not fair - just call the 0800 number and it's impossible to cancel - that is illegal and immoral. This has caused me no end of stress and I've spent hours trying to get through to my bank, your sites about this also waiting hours at time. My e-mail addresses used are [protected]@hotmail.com or michaela.[protected]@bbc.co.uk - the reason there are two is because I cant get in or reset either so I'm now unsure which one is against the account or even if I have one. When I was able to log in it said I had no subscription.
monthly payments.
I had a trial period with Archives.com. However I decided I did not want to subscribe. If I had wished to I would have set up a Direct Debit with my bank.
I gave it no more thought. I am 80+ years of age and my husband was in intensive care and was in hospital for a long while. However, now things had stabilised I looked at my Credit Card Statement and saw that Archives.com was taking approximately £8 each month from my Credit Account. I now discover that this has been since 5/5/2015. I am very upset.
I never signed to join Archives and have never used it since the trial period. I was not aware that I had to cancel after the trial period. I had given my Credit Card details. Certainly I never authorised the Credit Card Company to make a monthly payment.
I would appreciate hearing from you as I am 'in shock'.

Yes they did the same thing to me! I have a friend that is a news reported. I'm having them blasted on National Television!
cancelled my membership
I have had archives for six years. They removed my credit card number. I was paying $7.95 a month. I was told that now since they did not have my credit card number, that I would have to pay $9.95 a month. I would be treated as a new member. This is the second time this has
happen to me. It seems every time they want to increase the rate; they drop you credit card number.
My membership was under the Grandfather rule. Now they change their tale.
free trial
I signed up for the free trial and enjoyed the site. I cancelled my trial through the email, on 3 occasions. Now my account has been charged 3x and I've not found a reliable source to contact customer service. I have kept all of my emails I've sent, and I feel this is moving into illegal use of my personal information. Do NOT sign up for the free trial, not only does it not cancel for whatever false reason they use, they do not provide any customer service resource. I contacted the number listed, all I got was a recorded voice asking for the last 4 of my cc. Also, after I sent the first email, my account became inactive. I've not gone onto the site in the 3 months, not once, I've just attempted to email a cancellation. Worst app/site experience ever.
free membership
I have tried unsuccessfully to cancel my free membership for almost three months. This very frustrating, as I quit the process almost at the end but by then they had my card and have been charging my card. This is a scam. Do not use this site. You cannot even get to a real person via the real phone number without it taking 30 to 40 minutes wait. I could not get a real person until I logged on to this complaint site...
Crazy... scam... I bet I wont even get a refund...
Website - charges without notification
This website charged my credit card $129 over the course of a year (3/2016-3/2017) without any notification. Because it was done in $9.99 increments I did not notice right away. Membership is likely listed under my email address: [protected]@gmail.com. However, I never once received notification via email or otherwise that my card was being charged.
I am requesting a refund in full.
Partial refund issued
Avoid!
I have signed up for Archives service and it was supposed to be a free trial! When I signed up they said that I have to enter my credit card details and I did. Used Archives and everything was fine until they charged my card and took $10 for who knows what! I immediately contacted Archives customer care service and they were not able to explain what happened and why was I charged! Terrible customer service, they are completely useless! I asked them to cancel my account and they said sure, but they refused to refund the money they stole. I would not recommend Archives to anyone!
Continued billing after contract ended
I signed up for a 7 day free trial with a one month non-renewable membership. They have continued to bill me for three additional months. The first extra month I thought it was Ancestry.com because I had signed up for their site. I just recently signed up for a 6 month membership for Ancestry.com and paid that in full. When I checked my account, I saw the charge from Archives.com. I tried to call them but was on hold for a long time.
I went to their website and cancelled my membership. Somehow while searching for my membership information I stumbled upon a page that showed my membership was not to renew after the first month. While submitting a "support ticket" to them to request a refund for the three months that I was billed for after my contract was supposed to have been cancelled, I tried to find the same information again and could not find it.
In this whole process of cancelling my membership and submitting the support ticket, I cancelled my membership a minimum of three times, but only received one email that says they received my cancellation request.
Their website is very hard to navigate as far as finding membership information.
I would like a full refund for the months of March, April and May 2016 from them as I will not use their site ever again as well as their partner sites.
Cancelled Ancestory account 1-2 years ago. Archives.com Continued taking $6.95 from my checking account through PayPal. Contacted Archives customer service who cancelled account again with no record of first cancellation. Could only refund $6.95 which credit did not go through according to service rep. Suggested I contact them again in 5 days of I don't see the credit. Wow!
My fault for not catching this small amount.
Correction. $7.95
